Rare 0106 Posted August 21, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Cooking meals on a sheet pan is clearly trending. I frequently combine a protein and the vegetables I have in my refrigerator with some herbs and olive oil and roast everything together in the oven. With its vast real estate and baking vessel, it also works as a rustic serving dish. It’s a win-win for all parties involved, particularly the clean-up crew. Sheet Pan Nachos from Damn Delicious Brown ground beef and garlic; stir in taco seasoning. Place tortilla chips in a single layer onto the baking sheet. Top with ground beef mixture, black beans, corn and cheeses. Bake. Top with tomato, onion, jalapeno, sour cream and cilantro. How easy is that? Chicken and Black Bean Sheet Pan Nachos This recipe contains instructions for making home-baked tortilla chips but you can always just open a bag. It uses canned refried black beans and whole black beans, mexi-corn , monterey jack & cheddar cheese blend, pico de gallo, chopped cooked chicken and jalapenos. It is topped with guacamole, sour cream, salsa and hot sauce. Sheet Pan Nachos with Homemade Cheese Sauce The homemade cheese sauce in this recipe looks delicious. Of course you could always melt some Velveeta. Sending you peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good 24
Rare puppycanducruise Posted August 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good morning. Thanks for the Report. It's a lovely morning here, I hope it's a good week. A nice collection of days, I enjoy spumoni ice cream and I like some poetry. I don't feel like a senior but I guess I am one. I like the quote. The meal sounds good, thanks for the recipe. I hope the drink and wine are tasty too. I've never been to California, maybe someday. Prayers for everyone. I hope there are lots of celebrations. Not much on the agenda for today, I may go shopping, I need a wedding gift. Have a good day everyone. 32

Rare ottahand7 Posted August 21, 2023 #10 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily each morning for us @richwmn. Glad us old timers have a day, I am sure there could be some big celebrations on BHBs. My Dad's dairy made Spumoni ice cream, it was never a favorite. Poets should have their day. Good quote by John Lennon. Adding machines sure made running a business easier. @0106 thanks for the sheet pan nacho recipes. That is the only way I know how to make them and I bet they would go great with today's cocktail. I don't have any idea about today's vino. I look forward to photos of Catalina Island. Prayers for all dealing with all the wildfires and their aftermath. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. I hope the rain from Hilary can help prevent more fires. Have a nice Monday. Nancy 32
Rare kazu Posted August 21, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Thanks for our Monday Daily, Rich. And thanks, Tina, Vanessa, Dixie & Ann. Nice collection of days. Since I am one (although I don’t think of myself that way) I guess I am celebrating Senior Citizen’s day. I’m grateful for all of our poets and the joy their words and bring and will gladly celebrate them. that quote of John Lennon’s is quite true. The meal and drink of the day are certainly in sync with the Mexican theme. DD DH would have been a happy camper with any of Tina’s suggestions. The house was cool this morning - there’s a chill in the air. So, it makes the dark, damp, rainy morning cooler. Wish it was on the other coast of Canada where they need it. Watching the reports on the weather that there were so many warnings of and hoping all our Daily-ites & those that were affected are safe 🙏 Hoping things dry up a bit (or at least stop raining) to try to catch up with some weeds in the back gardens. I got a bit done out front yesterday despite the rain but it was challenging. Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses, health problems and worries & for those that need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising 🥂 Have a good Monday everyone. 34 1

StLouisCruisers Posted August 21, 2023 #15 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good morning friends! We are in Halifax as Rich has mentioned already today. Temps will be in the 60's with cloudy skies for the most part and hopefully no rain until the ship sails. Thanks Rich @richwmn for posting our Fleet Report and Daily once again today. I've never tried spumoni before as far back as I can recall, but who knows if my memory is correct. I'm definitely a senior citizen and appreciate anyone who can write poetry. The Lennon quote seems true to me. The sheet pan nachos sound very good. No thanks to the cocktail or wine today. What a nifty invention Mr. Burroughs thought up! Thank you Tina @0106, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for your F&B reports! Prayers for the Care list folks. We hope you are all feeling better soon.🙏 Congrats to the Celebration people. Enjoy your happy event, cruise or any other good thing happening in your life.🥂 Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for taking care of our lists each day. The FC Dallas group were taken to a ruin near Mexico City yesterday on their day off and I saw a picture of them all in front of it. Today is back to work playing soccer. I wish them luck! The competition is getting tougher every day. No idea what we are doing here today. I really have nothing planned so we will wing it. Tomorrow is Bar Harbor, Maine. This morning's port is Avalon, on Catalina Island, California. We had the port of Avalaon, Catalina Island on July 21, 2022. I haven't been there so have no photos. DH says he remembers taking a boat ride to Catalina Island as a boy because his family traveled to L.A. every summer to visit close family members. I hope you have some photos to share today of Catalina Island! Hope you all have a great day. Stay safe and well! 35

Rare rafinmd Posted August 21, 2023 #17 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Tina, Dixie, and Ann for the Monday reports. I used adding machines for the first several years of my time at work. I'll take most any ice cream including Spumoni. Funny how related days seem to group together with Poet's day so close to Bad Poetry day. Senior Citizens Day is definitely for many of us including me. Been to Catalina just once, Carnival Inspiration in 2017. I love the Lennon quote but will pass on the Nachos. My alternative is Strawberry Bisque and Grilled Strip Loin as served on MS Veendam August 21, 2013. I expect a very busy day today but so far no real plan for it. cat shepard Posted August 21, 2023 #18 Share Posted August 21, 2023 (edited) Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! A humid morning even before sunrise - with just a hint of a breeze. Two days with no rain, I suspect more torrential downpours when Mother Nature does let loose. It is an unusual weather pattern this year. Perhaps unusual is the new norm. Vanessa, thank you for keeping our lists. Dixie & Tina, thank you for taking such great care of the drinks & food departments. And to all the countless Dailyites who make this such a great place to visit - thank you. In honor of our Pumpkin Spice discussion of a few days ago… Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. @DeniseT Denise, best of luck today! Get well & stay well everyone! *********** Generation 1905 - Grenache 2019 One never knows when a good wine will cross your path. It is one of the main reasons to taste as many as possible. And price does not always dictate enjoyment. My favorite Pinot Noir still costs $17.99. This wine is definitely one I would like to try, though I usually prefer my Grenache in a GSM partnership. Quite a few online distributors with prices starting at $10.99. WineandFriends.com - 89 I bought this wine because the Best Buy classification by WE but I could not help some skepticism since it had no appellation. As soon as I smelled I understood. The varietal in this wine presents its milder side with some sweet hints in the palate from red fruits, vanilla and chocolate. Whoever in WE evaluated this wine really hit the spot and showed the courage to rate highly a wine with such low-profile pedigree. Here is their review: “The nose delivers red cherry and cranberry alongside a white pepper accent. Juicy red fruit is echoed on the palate that's loaded with bouncy acidity and gentle tannins. A blanket of vanilla and white pepper marks the close.” 90 pts and “Best Buy” WE Edited August 21, 2023 by cat shepard 23 13
Mr. Boston Posted August 21, 2023 #19 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good Monday morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report, recipes and lists. It’s always so nice to check in here to find out what’s what. Spumoni, senior citizens and poets, not a bad collection to start the week! Isn’t today’s quote just the truth? You couldn’t plan some of the things that happen to you. The meal and drink suggestions sound very nice but we ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant yesterday with DBIL so I’ll have to reluctantly pass. I haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for all on our prayer list. Happy ______ to those of you who are celebrating fun events today!
marshhawk Posted August 21, 2023 #20 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good Monday Morning Dailyites! I did exactly what I wanted to do yesterday....I made two necklaces, slept late, ate junk food, and watched as much as I could take, of Season 9 of Alone. And then it was time to go to bed. And today, it's hit the road running! PT, walk the neighbors dog, work for 8 hours, and somewhere is that time, I need to make and bake a meatloaf for dinner. 24
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted August 21, 2023 #21 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good morning from central Texas where it is 81F and feels like 84F already. It shouldn't be too bad for my walk in a few minutes with a 6 mph breeze, 64% humidity and a dewpoint of 67F. However, it will be 105F to 107F this afternoon, and the triple digits will continue for at least the next two weeks. I plan to get my errands run as early as possible. DH has eaten spumoni before and liked it. I don't feel like a senior citizen although I am definitely one, and I do enjoy the senior discounts. 😉 I'll honor all poets even though it is not my favorite form of literature. The John Lennon quote is very true. I think I'd like the second recipe today since I could adapt it for both the vegetarians and carnivores in the family. We'll pass on the drink, but the wine might be nice. It's been a lot of years since we've had a Grenache. We were in Avalon in March 2022 on Koningsdam. The adding machine was a game changer until the calculator came along. @kazu Jacqui, I hope your rain lets up for a while. @GTVCRUISER Thanks for the great pictures of Avalon. I hope you are safe during the storm. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, whatever you do in Halifax, I hope you have a great day. A walk along the boardwalk is always nice. Glad Ren and the team got to see some of Mexico City. I hope all the Dailyites and their families in the path of Hilary and of the wildfires are safe. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted August 21, 2023 #22 Share Posted August 21, 2023 We were in Avalon in 2022 on March 25 and again on March 28. It was a sunny, pleasant day on the first stop and windy, rainy with rough seas on March 28. We only went in on the first visit, and we rented a golf cart for a quick tour of the island. The walk from the tender dock and their Veterans memorial. Starting our golf cart ride. Looking down at Avalon from the hilltop viewpoint. We passed the pet cemetery The Casino, which we did not have time to visit since we only had the golf cart for an hour. DH dropped me off at one end of the pedestrian street while he took the golf cart to the other end. The Wrigley house on the hill top. We drove by it on our golf cart ride, but this is a better picture. Lenda 34

1ANGELCAT Posted August 21, 2023 #24 Share Posted August 21, 2023 Good sunny and very humid morning. It’s supposed to get up to about 90 today then cooler tomorrow. Yesterday was a lazy day, church then grocery shopping and then home for a nap and then grilled steak for dinner along with corn on the cob. We watched the baseball game from Williamsport, so cool to see the big leaguers interacting with the kids. Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.
