SteelMagnolia9 Posted July 12, 2018 #16 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Yes, if I’d been on the Allure previously (which I have). No, if you’ve not been on the Allure.
Ken at the beach Posted July 12, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 12, 2018 to sail on Symphony, as opposed to Allure? Same exact stateroom (OV balcony), same dates, similar ports. Would you personally do it? When are you finding the same dates. Symphony sails on a Saturday and Allure sails on Sundays. It is for this reason that we paid about $500 more to sail on Symphony. Sailing on the Saturday allowed us to use 1 less day of vacation which. Ore than covered the extra cost. For others flight costs could also be a factor. We’ve also sailed Allure twice so even without the other savings that we had o still would have paid the extra $500 as there are enough new experiences and restaurants on the Symphony to make it worthwhile for us. CruisingNole Posted July 12, 2018 #19 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Are you flying or driving? If you're flying, the price difference in airfare could affect the overall cost and tip the scale one way or the other.
Host Jacquelyn Posted July 12, 2018 #20 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I say Yes! We are paying a similar amount more to sail Harmony vs Allure the same week. We have been on Oasis a couple of times, and want to see the changes on Harmony. If you have never been on either, then I would probably save the $500. But if you have been on Allure / Oasis, then for me it is worth the extra $$$ to sail Symphony. Also, monitor for price drops.
Ocean Boy Posted July 12, 2018 #21 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I don't think so. I like Allure just fine.

If you've never been on Oasis/Allure, save the $500 and go on Allure. But if you've already done the others, why do another repeat? In that situation, I'd definitely go Symphony. yuvraj Posted July 12, 2018 #23 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I would spend the extra just to check out a newer ship but that would be a one off. I would then go back to sailing on Allure or Oasis if it was cheaper.
CruisingNole Posted July 12, 2018 #24 Share Posted July 12, 2018 OP - Just looked at your signature, you've been on both Allure and Oasis in the past 2 years. Virtually identical ships. Why do Allure again if Symphony is an option? If you can afford it, of course.
Ocean Boy Posted July 12, 2018 #25 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I would agree with this. If you've never been on Oasis/Allure, save the $500 and go on Allure. But if you've already done the others, why do another repeat? In that situation, I'd definitely go Symphony. The other way to look at it is that Symphony will be around for a long time and eventually won't be $500 more than Oasis/Allure. If someone doesn't plan to cruise much in the future maybe I'd say go for it but I have never felt the need to sail the latest ship at a premium. I've gone through it with the roll out of V/F/and now O class ships. I wait a bit for the newest. Eventually the price comes down and I make it aboard. While I'm waiting I just enjoy which ever ship I have booked.
