The”show” is spilling out of Eden

I guess the only  difference is that they aren’t trying to sell you a bev pack, bev upgrade or specialty restaurant and that may be next.

I think if they came up to our to our table I would place a drink order just to see their reaction.

With the cuts in the service staff that is paid mostly by tips and others entertainers  to save expenses it seems rather foolish to have a fully paid staff like that on board to just move around annoying the passengers.

Another thougth is that they may be like other street performers and are looking for tips.   Wonder what their reaction would be if they were given a dollar or so.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

The descriptions remind me of the kind of stuff that happens at a renaissance fair. Some people prefer to maintain a social barrier between themselves and the event. Others like to participate and interact with the paid performers and their fellow revelers. Things can get weird sometimes but I have a lot more fun playing along.

I am very concerned about the dinner booking we made for Eden.  The last thing that I want is for a spaced-out edenist to be in my face while eating an EXPENSIVE up charge dinner.   Can someone tell me when all the strange performances begin in Eden?  We have 6:30 reservations so I am hoping that it won't be too bad.  I also noticed a few posts regarding the strobe lights and loud music in the main martini bar area.  Is this constant or just later in the evening?  We don't sail until the end of March so hopefully X will get this under control before then.  We love the S class ships and are hoping for the same high level of service and modern luxury.

I  have not been there yet.... but we won't book the restaurant.Just not our style and it was pricey..  It appears the show is mostly in the gen part of EDEN..I only recently became aware of that. But I also saw posts about a big  loud finale  around midnight.  It is difficult to  piece it all together from the posts and videos.  We will not visit Eden when the Edenist show is on....but sounds like it is nice during the day. Hope someone sorts it all out here.

Our concern is that in Nov we have a Sunset Veranda.,deck 7 over EDEN,  and due to an outside speaker, some have complained about noise on their balcs and inside the  aft  cabins. Hope that gets resolved!

I can't comment on dinner in Eden but what is your specific concern about the Martini bar? On S-class ships during the Elite Cocktail hours they are never whisper quiet and actually they are the center of activity. No different on the Edge. We happen to be there a couple of nights around 6:40 and the Martini bar along with the whole Grand Plaza was abuzz with activity. In my opinion it was a nice kind of crowded,in other words it provided a nice atmosphere. And that's exactly the atmosphere the designers of the bar had in mind. The sound levels were no different then the Martini bars on S-class ships at the same hour. The chandelier does flicker but it's not distracting like a Times Square Billboard. It only took a few minutes for us to get our drinks at the bar. The attached photo is from the time period I just described.  I wasn't looking to capture the crowd but if you look carefully you can see the groups of people congregating around the bar.

That sounds great - we love the Martini Bar on the S class due to the good energy and friendliness.  I had read some other posts regarding that the Grand Plaza was too over the top and the very large chandelier was very distracting and music was overpowering so much that you could not carry on a conversation.

think celebrity has to look at the age groups on the edge and decide whether this sort of head fumbling is appropriate and if indeed merited...........I mean we are in our 50's and like a bit of fun but I personally couldn't be arsed with what I am reading about and the pictures I am seeing from the edge. We will stick with what we are used to and what we really like and if this changes in the future then we try another cruise line. I don't know what Celebrity are trying to achieve with the Edge but time will tell.

Completely agree. As loyal Celebrity cruisers we'll be sticking with the brand and their S class ships until they go through their respective 'Revolution' makeover and then make a decision. If they apply this concept and segregation across all their ships then we'll be looking elsewhere.

I would say give it time. Celebrity  has been very innovative in the past. Some of their  big ideas have been excellent and some have not panned out... ex. loud .DJ music in place of live music,  various events with slithery beings engaging guests,  draping the upstairs lounge in rags...etc.

Hopefully,  it will all work out. EDGE  looks beautiful, has very  good dining reviews. Maybe we will adjust to the Enclosed Infinite Verandas or they can be improved somehow..curtains, better furniture on the Veranda section..

Not giving up yet

Dividing the ship and segregating what currently are public areas of the ship that everyone has access to (the front viewing area and solstice deck) and making access to these areas (after the Revolution) for suite-only passengers.

Doing this topic again? Nahhhhh

There is no segregation on any of X's vessels, only areas we want to pay to enter.

Segregation insinuates that those who are considered lesser has NO rights to enter places where others are freely welcomed without any barrier. In this case anyone can enter if they choose to pay to go there.

Nice try.

bon voyage

Sadly, the ship does have areas wheelchairs can’t get to, and it lacks entry-assist setups in the pools, too.

Now THAT is a huge problem!  I didn't think X was willing to alienate those needing assistive devices, but I guess they just don't care.  That is very sad.

Folks....PLEASE do not copy photos/videos, etc from other websites and paste/embed them into our boards.  It's a copyright violation.  Please post only links.

Seeing photos of the Eden Characters for tomorrow would be AWESOME! I'd be happy with even a website link and hopefully it will bring some magic to those who couldn’t get there this Christmas! If they go outside of Eden you could just think of them as holiday wood elves.

We can wait to see them on our cruise..hopefully confined to EDEN!

Segregation: the act of segregating; a setting apart or separation of people or things from others or from the main body or group.

So yes, I would say that is a very good definition of what Cruise Prolific described.

So segregation based on money or means rather than other characteristics then.
