Southern Caribean Early December 2020

My friend and I are thinking of going on a southern Caribbean cruise next December.  I have not been on a Caribbean cruise in many years.  What are the negatives of going in December and positive?   Any incites would be appreciated.

Positives: Getting to a warm place during winter  

Negatives: None 

 

Most do summer cruises mainly due to family / kids out of school vacations

December is a great month for a Caribbean cruise.  Weather is great - hot but not too humid.  Early December you will not have too many kids as opposed to late December.

We always do sailings late November/early December.  Doing our 2nd b2b going southern Caribbean (ABCs) in two weeks.  Weather is perfect and if you go earlier in the month it feels calmer to me but that may just be my perception.

We’ve cruised from San Juan on a couple of occasions in December and were blessed with excellent weather both times.

 

I can honestly think of no negatives.

I use to only cruise the first Two week of December and it was alway nice weather wise as well as price. After Thanksgivings  but before Christmas

We did early December Southern Caribbean on Adventure of Seas a few years ago. Great weather and enjoyable cruise. Ship will be decorated for the Christmas holiday also. Departed from San Juan as most of RC’s Southern itineraries do. 
 

We got a great deal on a 2 bedroom family suite for the three of us about 45 days prior to sailing ($3,000 all in for the 3 of us). They had a few of these unsold 45 days out.  After booking, keep an eye on ability to upgrade as you get closer to your sailing date.

Early december is a wonderful time to cruise the caribbean especially southern caribbean.   You can do some holiday shoppjng at the ports too.  I bought some cute ornaments for various family members on my last december cruise.

Fewer children onboard if you avoid the holiday period.

We always cruise first week in December.  Price is great and it is my daughter's bday.  We did Freedom Southern last year and i it was great.  We are doing Adventure Western this year....can't beat the price and the weather the first week of December!

We always do a cruise in May/June and December. 

 

Positives of December- Generally great weather, few kids, cheap before Christmas and NYE

Negatives of December- It gets dark early, generally a geriatric crowd, cold/flu/noro season

It gets dark early. To some, this might be a negative. To me, it's a plus, as being on a ship at night is one of my favorite things in life.

No downside to early December Caribbean cruising.  Book it.🌴🌞

Just make sure to leave a day before to try to avoid weather delays and plane cancellations.

This is our "sweet spot" of booking!

The Southern's out of Miami have been around first week Dec stretching 9 days which seems to have very good pricing prior to the Xmas sailing price jumps.

The only "negative" is making sure you allow for weather delays - depending on where you are travelling from.

We did the ABC's out of Miami last year. There were no issues whatsoever with ocean temps. We were in the water at all 3 locations.

 

We loved it so much we're booked on the first week Dec 4(?) Explorer sailing to the ABC's again in 2020. Possibly the itinerary you're looking at.....

That is the itinerary I was looking at! It's over my granddaughter's birthday and wasn't sure about the price, but will keep early Dec. in mind.
