Hello from Allure 1-5-2020 to 1-12-2020

This cruise was affected pre cruise by the propulsion issue as we lost St Kitts.  Last night the captain announced due to weather that we will not be going to Coco Cay Saturday but Labadee instead due to a weather pattern.

The diamond lounge is not crowded at all.  Literally walk in when it opens or 20 minutes later or an hour and there are plenty of seats.  It is still just like Oasis was the last time I sailed it last 5 years ago. Which is a great venue, but it is not conducive to mingling, maybe because it is not crowded.

The flowrider wave at least on the port side is very weird.  It feels when you get on it from the gutter that it is a balloon.  Which is not to say I don’t like it.  It seems like a very easy wave to surf on.  The top past the wave is much harder on the body when you hit compared to the newer ships I have been sailing. Anthem, Ovation and Symphony.  So, I have collected a few colorful lower body parts in 2 days of surfing.  The other weird thing is I literally hear my board squeaking when I am carving at the top of the wave.  Don’t remember hearing that before.  First day had a session at 12:15 to 3 and another 5-7.  I attended the first and not the second it has been way cooler than I expected.

We have the UDP, and they had our first night in Sabor.  I went to Giovannis by 11:30 and had all of our reservations changed In about 15 minutes with Raul.  The rest of my group had lunch there, I at in the Solarium before flow riding.  The Key has been sold so much that they now eat the Chops lunch in the Main Dining room.

I would hope.

Has anyone noticed the balloon nature of the flow rider on this ship?  BTW, despite having my board with me at check in at the sports desk, I did have to ride the stupid boogie board.  loaded on the side washed over the top loaded at the top slid down back to the side walked over to sports desk they cut the white band off, and replaced it with a blue.  what a waste.

The lines have been good.  During Advanced never more than 5 and yesterday the most in line was a bit over 10.  That remained most of the day between 5 and 12.  I was on it from 9-noon, and then 1-2:30.  Which means I missed the meet and mingle.

It was about 3 sec ride on and off right there by the staff member and he had the blue bands right there. Got off the boogie board, put on the blue band, grabbed the stand up board and went riding.

My wife boogie boards while my son does stand up.  By the end of the week on Oasis the lines at the boogie board side were insane with people who had to do the test in order to try stand up.

Just off Allure (Dec 29-Jan 5). We too were affected by the propulsion issue unable to go to Honduras.  Then we were suppose to go to Costa Maya but a MSC cruise ship was in our berth and couldn't leave due to winds.  So we were stuck out at sea missing a port (at least you were able to go to another port, but Labadee is not Coco Cay).   Usually I don't mind sea days.  But this NYE cruise was so crowded.  The first time on a cruise that I felt crowded.  Needless to say, we made the best of it. We chose this cruise for NYE and the ports of Costa Maya and Honduras (which got changed to Nassau)….didn't work out that way...cursed cruise!

It was the same January 2019.  That also includes the squeaky wave.  As for the boogie board test... hate it.  The whole process literally adds 3 minutes to the riders time, for their 5 second boogie ride.  Meanwhile everyone in line has to wait for this simple😉 process.  It does nothing to make them safe on the wave.

Hopefully the staff learned to speak English for this cruise.

Are you serious that the staff didn't speak English well? I'm sailing on her next November 29th on a western  route, and I certainly would have a problem with the crew not being able to understand me. Or, are you just kidding?

It was a joking reference to a rant/thread that was posted here yesterday.

I saw on weather forecast that it will be very windy in Bahamas end of this week.   Is this why they cancelled CocoCay?

I am hoping on board on 1/12 and sure hope they don't make anymore changes to our itinerary.   I was really wanting to get to Honduras since I have never been there, I am sure we will have fun.   This week we received emails that they have pushed back the aqua shows to middle of week instead of nights 1 and 2.   Maybe because of windy weather?

Enjoy your cruise!

Hopefully we will be getting on the Allure when you are leaving.  Flying in from Chicago, weather for Friday and Saturday in Chicago is a wintry mix.  Scheduled for first flight out Saturday 7:00am, so crossing our fingers.

we’re on as well. Really enjoying the cruise. disappointed the 11th turned i to a sea day but mainly because it’s hubby’s birthday.

pretty sure I saw you on the flow rider! killin it!

Don’t be shy.  Come say hello.  When I am in line, I am always wearing my tan and red floppy hat.  Speaking of Bdays, mine was Monday, our steward caught my wife taping a picture from when we were dating on the door circa 1979/80, and asked if he could decorate the cabin.  This is back when I was skinny with longer hair and a bit of a Jeff Foxworthy porn mustache.  So we have all kinds of crap on the door and in the room.  Our Anniversary is the 10th.

You guys are killing me, when MM posts something that you have to google, please share.  I don’t have a lot of time to look up Yiddish words!  In fact, we are in St Thomas, and I am about to head to the DL for coffee before 1 hour on the wave prior to to the obligatory shopping day in St Thomas.

Yes, we are skipping Coco Cay due to storm coming from the ocean, per the captain.  He is a rather large human being by the way.  Sounds on the speaker, like he might sell me a used car.  (Please try not to be offended I do not know the man, nor am I likely too, he probably is the greatest captain of all time in real life.)😅

So, on the Allure the sports deck office faces the starboard flowrider which is boogie board and that is where they sent me.  So, up and down there, and then to the desk, where they cut off the old put on the blue.

According to Gemma (from UK sports staff) they will be replacing both flowriders after the TA during dry dock.  Things on the ship such as our balcony furniture, the cabin furniture, the diamond lounge furniture, all looks like it could use replacing, Hopefully they will.

Comedy club last night, one we have seen before.  Very funny
