Don’t put it off!  Shingles is very, very debilitating. If you haven’t had the pneumonia vaccine get that too (just not together!)

No I haven't had a pneumonia vaccine. I'm not sure if I ever really heard of it. I will also add that to my list. Guess I need to make an appt with my primary care physician and add this one too. Thanks everyone. I have learned a lot from reading these posts.

Hi friends....well, I have more health news too....I will be ok but have been in the hospital since Friday night.

I am home now.  Seems 2020 keeps getting suckier and suckier....It seems I had a bleeding ulcer😲 and to make

a long story short, I fell Friday night in my kitchen and then when I stood up....I threw up blood. Other issues happened.

After seeing the blood I thought maybe I needed to call 911.  So I did and had 6 gorgeous men come in my

house LOL......(only good thing about the entire event) My hemoglobin was too low (red cells) and I had internal bleeding.

ER Doc took a cat scan and admitted me.  I had an endoscopy yesterday and the bleeding has stopped. (thankfully)

and my blood number is better.  I have 2 new meds I have to take for 90 days (basically the rest of the year)...........

It was a bit scary.......it is good to be home.

So sorry this happened to you. 👍 for the good looking men. 😀

If you don't mind me asking, but why? Did you lose that much blood? I really hope not. That had to have been scary.

You can add me to the list of pumpkin lovers. I love everything pumpkin. 🍊 Let's just pretend my orange is a pumpkin. 😀

So sorry you had to deal with all of this but sounds like you are on the mend.  Your hemoglobin must have been critically low to get two blood transfusions!  Good that you called 911.
2020 just gets better and better😳

Hi girls, thanks for the good wishes..........Renee,  the ulcer was 1 inch in size and from what I was told that is quite large and caused the internal bleeding.

I don't mind you asking at all.  I feel like this is a small family on here as I don't have

family here at home.

Lois, I am so, so sorry to hear this --you really have had a terrible year. :classic_sad:  I feel like so much has been dumped on you. I really hope this is the LAST big issue you'll face in 2020 -- or years to come.

Take care of yourself. Glad to see that you still have your good sense of humor, e.g., the six hunky guys. Love it!  {{{{hugs}}}}

Regarding the vaccinations:  Most pharmacies, especially the big ones, will do pneumonia vaccinations.  I had mine done at my NP's office because I was already there for my blood tests and such.

Lois - I think at this point we need to be wrapped in bubble wrap until January 1!!!!!!

Hi Cynthia, they were all nice too🙂

I forgot a couple of things.........they prescribed me 2 new meds to help heal the stomach area and reduce any

acidity.  But one of the pills can have a negative effect on the kidneys.  So, tomorrow I am calling my GP about all

of this and he will tell me if I should call my Kidney specialist or not. What a mess😲.....these new meds are for a

90 day time frame (so really till year end) but I don't want anything bad to happen in the kidney area again!!!!

That would be very wise to discuss this with your nephrologist before taking, I have found during my years as a nurse that most doctors only know what works in their specialty and have no idea about possible effects in other areas.  Also, just curious, any idea what might have caused this ulcer to develop?  Sounds like it was a fairly large area if it was I inch.

They took a biopsy when the did the endoscopy. Those results should be back this week.  As for the cause? He said

there can multiple causes and asked me if I take Ibuprofen (I don't)...I know when folks take a lot of that, it can

cause an ulcer.  Stress, and sometimes it can be a malignancy  but he did not think it was that........so no, I don't

have an answer about the cause.

Hi Lois, oh my gosh, that's so scary, to put it bluntly, you have had a LOT of sh*t thrown your way this year :)  I am so glad to hear that you are ok... hopefully they can work out a med that won't be hard on your kidneys.

Upside was the 6 gorgeous guys.... but definitely not worth what you had to go through...  sending cyber hugs your way, & hoping that whatever is in charge of 2020 will send something very, very good your way, because you definitely deserve it :)

Oh Lois!  I’m glad you were able to call 911!  Ahem, I used to be one of those paramedics, sorry I’m not a good looking guy 😉. Sounds like you need a good gastroenterologist. Hope you continue to heal

Kat, it feels so good when you get your hair done. Your stylist came back quickly.

My stylist was riding her bike & was hit by a Nissan Armada (she weighs about 95 lbs). Luckily the guy that hit her stayed with her until ambulance picked her up. Shoulder, clavicle, broken ribs, concussion, totally broke her helmet  she was wearing all neon colors at 10am.  She’s very lucky to be alive. Interestingly his insurance agent told her to get a good lawyer that his guy was definitely at major fault (her son recorded the conversation).

oh my gosh, that's horrible... I think this is a case where she should definitely get a lawyer...  one thing I've noticed in the last months is a big increase in people driving at really, really high speeds, & recklessly changing lanes... we still have our E-Bikes on order, but they keep getting delayed :(    after reading your post I decided to order both of us new helmets, ours are 10+ years old & I'm sure the newer technology is better.  :)

@purduemom1  thanks for the link, I had read about the MMR link last week, & it does sound very interesting & promising.  I'm going to try & find my old vaccination card & see if I had the two dose one back in the day or not...I was born in 67 so I would think I did.

Regarding people "relaxing" things,  I know I've mentioned my Mom & her church friends behavior, well, the chickens finally came home to roost, so to speak.   30 people from her church that I know of are sick with Covid right now, & there are a bunch more according to my in-laws.     They had a very big scare last week,   they had our nephew & his family  over to visit about 3 weeks ago,  & gave in, & let them come inside, sit down together & have lunch, no social distancing, no masks.    Nephew & his family are now all C-positive, & Nephew & his FIL are actually unfortunately very sick.   Luckily, since at least 2 weeks passed from the visit to the illness my in laws are probably safe.  But they are now going to be more careful.

Can't do much for my mom though, I've resigned myself to the fact that she will eventually get this, & hope she will be one of the lucky older people who are fine.

Your outdoor projects sound lovely, but yes, when the air turns, we have to head inside, right now ours is ok. :)  I'm still working on my birdhouse project & finishing my outdoor fall decor :)

stay safe :)

So sorry to hear about your family members, I hope they all recover well. And I hope your mom does not become infected.  From what you have said, your mom is still active and that seems to make a difference on how well someone does.

My oldest son and his husband were sick back in May, both said it was the sickest they have ever felt in their lives.    They did not tell me at the time they were ill,  but had antibody tests done a few weeks ago, both tested positive.  Fortunately, our 5 year old grandson never showed any symptoms and Dwayne’s mother, who  babysat grandson at her home while they were sick, did not come down with anything even though she is high risk with several preexisting conditions.

Boring, stormy  day here on the Space Coast, so OOTD was exercise capris and an old, raggedy tshirt.   I am now in jammie pants and a not raggedy tshirt. Barely combed my hair into a ponytail this morning and no makeup.  But there is a pint of ice cream in our freezer that is calling my name so maybe that will lighten my mood😂

Lois, talk to your kidney specialist (is it a nephrologist or urologist?)

Lois, OMG, I am so glad to hear that you are home from the hospital and doing ok. You have certainly had more than your share of medical issues and it’s about time that the powers that be give you a break! You certainly did the right thing calling 911 and getting care ASAP. I’m sending wishes and virtual hugs that your healing is quick and easy.

Sherri, that must have been scary learning that your son and his DH were so sick but what a relief that your grandson didn’t get it,

Kat, oh yes I bought the apple cider spread and I have the pumpkin cream cheese too. I agree, the spread would make a good glaze on pork-might give that a try-thanks for the idea  Speaking of ideas, yes, there are so many good recipe ideas on the TJ site. I like that you can just get all the ingredients from them instead of tracking things down from multiple stores. Will have to look for that salad. Nice alternative to take out.

Don’t forget to post a picture of your outdoor display once the sight comes in and you are finished.

I'm hoping I had the MMR vaccine, but I don't know. I have a vaccine card from the '60s. I was born in 1961 so it probably came out after that, but when I was in first grade we went to Europe and I remember we had to get a bunch of shots. Well, it seemed like a bunch to a first grader. I do know I had a measles and a mumps shot, but I don't know about the rubella. I also don't know if it was a series of shots or just 1 each.

For the medical people on here, I was in the er a week ago Saturday. I heard the announcement " brain attack er bed 7". It kind of freaked me out knowing this was happening to someone. I'm guessing this can mean a lot of things, but any idea what it might have been?

I bought organic lemons from WF today to make some Limoncello. 🍹

Debbie, I’m so sorry that your mom and her church family aren’t taking this seriously. I can tell it is a big concern for you. Thankfully your in laws are ok and their wake up call will hopefully help keep them safe. Hope everyone else recovers without any big problems. I keep hearing that indoor family gatherings are often the cause of an outbreak. I really worry that this will be a huge problem during/after the holidays.

I seem to recall reading that there was more than one MMR vaccine in the 60’s so it is probably a good idea to see which you had-if you can tell. I do know that the first vaccine was just for measles and later the MMR combo was introduced. I have had all three of the viruses and chicken pox too so I do have lifetime immunity. However in 2011 my doctor gave me an MMR booster because I told her that we travel internationally. I have no idea if that booster and also the immunity  would help should they discover that the vaccine can help but if that is the case, I will most likely get another depending on the recommendation. I can’t help but wonder if this could be one reason why so many children who get the virus don’t get very sick and many have no symptoms.

Your ebikes will be lots of fun when they arrive. Good outdoor activity for you and DH!

Stay well!

Sharon

Just want to add that the MMR study is in process and there are no results yet. I mentioned it with the link as an FYI and possibly something to follow up on. It can’t hurt to find out if you have been vaccinated but hopefully nobody will take it too seriously at this point. Should it prove effective and it is recommended, all of us would most likely need a booster and some might need the 2 shots. So stay safe everyone and  please don’t rely on the MMR vaccine to protect you until we know the trial results.
