kalos Posted December 29, 2020 #11928 Share Posted December 29, 2020 Mrs Kalos is feeling a little down with all this staying in and all that Christmas cooking . So as a nice surprise I went in the kitchen and placed a large photo of her with the words "Employee of The Month " as a moral booster. I hope it works 3
majortom10 Posted December 29, 2020 #11929 Share Posted December 29, 2020 Whether experienced driver or not 85 miles just to go shopping in these current times is IMO irresponsible. I have no doubt if god forbid you were involved in an accident, even experienced drivers can have them, or breakdown or have a puncture then you would call for help in either emergency service or AA/RAC etc. and be putting other people at risk unnecessarily. I know these things can happen locally but the more miles done increases the risk. Since March the furthest we have travelled is Stafford or Trentham Gardens which is about 5-6 miles and I intend to travel no further in the future.
yorkshirephil Posted December 29, 2020 #11930 Share Posted December 29, 2020 We had a couple of inches of snow but it has virtually gone now. We nipped into Barnsley market this morning for bread and veggies and to swap our books at Mike's book exchange to find it closed, hoping to stock up before the lockdown or tier 5 or whatever we are in after tomorrows announcement.

A few months ago she said she needed a new ironing board cover. That's Christmas sorted then. It's her birthday in February and last night she mentioned the batteries in the remote may need changing. As she commandeers that, another present sorted.

That is just the sort of story the Sentinel would run on their front page. For those of you have never encountered the Sentinel, their online edition yesterday ran a story of a man who was very angry that Asda home delivery service had substituted his packs of bread rolls for a different type of bread roll. Presto - you are more likely to encounter people who recognise Charlie more than they recognise me.

I haven't seen them, close up for months and months. He works indirectly for Border Force, so had to drive , often with a Police Escort, around where the Dover 'lorry stack' was. Its a shame when they were so careful indoors, even their teenage daughter took herself up into the loft extension for 7 days when someone in another part of her sixth form got it. Luckily he isn't too bad. They followed every rule they could but having to work is probably what got him. So sorry to hear about your Son-in-law. He’s doing such an important job. And I echo what Kalos said - his teenage daughter is a shining example of how to be careful and be mindful of those around.

Thank you Tom for your comments but as we are in tier 3 we can still travel where we want. During last lockdown we strictly adhered to all the rules and on Christmas day it was just the 2 of us and some furry friends. Pauline loved the shops by the way and bought lots of thing's.😇
