That's for sure!  I found it a bit hard to read the captions on the map but it's Rotterdam and Zaandam.

Rich Thank you for the report.  Thanks be to God that the Rotterdam and Zaandam got through the Panama Canal and are now headed to Ft. Lauderdale.  I hope Port Everglades and the Big Wheels in FT. Lauderdale show some class and let both ships dock.

God Bless the Doctors and all medical people who are on the front lines of dealing with the pandemic.

From Holland America this morning

Zaandam and Rotterdam sailed from the Panama Canal into the Caribbean Sea this morning. We greatly appreciate the humanitarian consideration and the compassion shown for our guests and crew by the government of Panama and the Panama Maritime Authority. And we thank the various embassies for their support in our efforts to help get their citizens home as quickly as possible.

From Holland America, copied from another Cruise Critic Thread.

Seattle, Wash., Mar. 30, 2020 (7:15 AM PDT) — Due to the continued port closures and travel restrictions surrounding global health concerns, Holland America Line has made the decision to extend its pause of global cruise operations for an additional 30 days, cancelling sailings scheduled to depart through May 14, 2020.

Guests currently booked on cruises from April 14 through May 14 and their travel advisors will receive notification from Holland America Line in the coming days regarding options for selecting either a Future Cruise Credit for 125% of their booking value plus an additional $250 shipboard credit or a full refund.

“As the world addresses global health concerns, travel has come to a temporary standstill as communities take necessary precautions to protect themselves,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “All of us at Holland America Line are wishing everyone the best during this unprecedented time. ”

All bookings will automatically be cancelled through May 14. Guests do not need to call to cancel; however, they may use the online Cancellation Form to indicate their preference for a 125% Future Cruise Credit with a bonus $250 shipboard credit or 100% refund.  Holland America Line will reimburse cancellation fees for air and other arrangements for travel to and from the cancelled cruise. (This does not apply to chartered sailings.)

Holland America Line kindly requests that all those booked on cruises from April 14 through May 14 to not call reservations for assistance as hold times are expected to be very long, and their booking will automatically cancelled over the coming week. Guests do not need to call to cancel their bookings, but can indicate their preferences using the online Cancellation Form by June 1, 2020.  We sincerely thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

This email just popped up concerning my April 19th TransAtlantic on Nieuw Statendam

Dear Valued Guest,

Due to continued global public health circumstances, Holland America Line has made the difficult decision to extend the suspension of global operations of its fleet for another 30 days, impacting sailings scheduled to depart through May 14, 2020.

We know that you were looking forward to your cruise, and we are very sorry to be bringing you this disappointing news. At the same time, we know that you support our strong commitment to the health and safety of our guests, our crew, and the communities that we visit. For more information, please visit our News page.

In light of this extension, we are offering two forms of compensation for you to choose from for your cancelled voyage:

Option #1 — We would love to welcome you on board a future Holland America Line cruise. As an incentive to plan another voyage, you can choose to defer a refund and instead receive a future cruise credit for 125% of the base cruise fare paid plus an onboard credit of US$250 per person, which can be applied toward any future cruise(s) that are booked through December 31, 2021. Non-cruise fare purchases from Holland America Line will be refunded to the method of payment used for the original purchase. The terms and conditions of the Future Cruise Credit appear below.

Option #2 — If you do not choose the 125% future cruise credit plus US$250 onboard credit per person, a 100% refund of all monies paid to Holland America Line will be reimbursed to the original form of payment. This includes Holland America Line’s FlightEase air, Cancellation Protection Plan, Holland America Line pre- or post-cruise hotel packages or transfers, prepaid shore excursions and amenities purchased through Holland America Line, and taxes, fees, and port expenses.

We suggest that you contact your trusted travel advisor to discuss these options. If you do not respond by June 1st, you will be deemed to have elected a 125% future cruise credit plus US$250 onboard credit per person as outlined in Option #1 above. Please note, you may choose to cancel the future cruise credit at any time and the value, less the 25% bonus amount and US$250 onboard credit per person, will be refunded.

Please note: The above programs are not applicable to guests booked on a charter sailing.

The internet portal for selecting the option you prefer is now active at
https://book2.hollandamerica.com/cp/.

If any portion of your travel was not booked through Holland America Line, other booking and cancellation conditions and policies may apply. Most airlines and other travel-related services such as hotels, transportation, and tours are allowing refunds or waiving change fees due to the COVID-19 pandemic; please work directly with those operators regarding their charges.

Please note that due to the unprecedented volume of bookings impacted by cancellations, processing your election of Option 1 or 2 may take up to 60 days as our team works through each booking.

Should you have any questions, please contact us at the appropriate office:

Seattle Office (USD/CAD currency):
Contact us at 1-800-577-1729 or 206-626-7385. We are available Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 5:00pm PST.

Sincerely,
Orlando Ashford
Holland America Line

Good morning and thank you for the Daily!

YAY Doctors ! ! !   Although that doesn't help with what I'm making for dinner tonight, we're especially glad they are trained to help when it's needed most.  There are angels among us.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Thank you, Rich, and all the doctors, and other health-related personnel!

Sad to hear that more cruises are being cancelled.  I wonder how long this is going to go on.  Not good.  I should be packing to leave on Saturday, to join Rotterdam on April 6, but instead I'm sitting around posting on Cruise Critic!
