Well, the carpet was soaked, but where was it coming from?  It turns out, it was from clogged sun roof drains.  I never even thought about there being drains for the sunroof, let alone them getting clogged.

Same thing happened to my brother's Ford Explorer.  The drains through the pillars must be a common thing.

Our Toyota Sienna has a sunroof but it clearly seals to the roof and doesn't need any drains.

high tide is at 3:15. that is what they’re telling us to watch out for - the water surges

Stay safe, Crystal and Nate!!

Just a saw video of someone at work that has a home in a Naples and his Wife is there (she stayed).    His boat that was raised up above his dock is just about under water and his jet skiis that were also raised up are total immersed.   Can no longer see his yard and his infinity pool is now level with the water from the canal.   His wife is going to stop filming and lower their fabric storm shutters (will have to look them up, never heard of them) but it is a $11M custom home he had built 2 or 3 years ago and he had it built to survive any storm (he hopes).

Right now they are saying the surge is over 6 feet   😔in Naples.  I was very worried about a friend of ours who said it was too late for her to leave her house.  I just read on Facebook from her DIL that my friend is now with her son and family.  At least she's no longer home alone

Several of our friends in Naples had to have their roofs replaced from their homes after the last bad hurricane we had several years ago. 😔

My niece has a house on Captiva Island. She evacuated with her family and just texted me that the only updates that she has received are from a neighbor that didn't leave. Two boats and boat lifts are gone and the walls of their house are shaking.

I'm glad your niece has safely evacuated.  This reminds me of super storm Sandy when it hit Staten Island

That's insane how the water has receded prior to the surge that's coming

Since I have not posted much lately, how about a vehicle related story?  It involves things I didn’t know about or even thought about.

We started noticing a funky smell in one of our Toyota SUVs.  At first, I thought maybe one of the grandkids spilled something, but there were no obvious signs of a spill.  In the process of cleaning, I pull out the weather tech mats, and one is wet, on the underside.  So now I am thinking, how could they make a spill and not get any IN the mat?  In the commercials everything ends up there, and not in the carpet.

Well, the carpet was soaked, but where was it coming from?  It turns out, it was from clogged sun roof drains.  I never even thought about there being drains for the sunroof, let alone them getting clogged.  I mean, we rarely even open our sunroof, unless it is to let our granddaughter climb out it to the roof to be patriotic.  How much rain or debris can find it’s way in.

When I opened the sunroof and looked in the corners, they are filled with water since it isn’t draining, and the water in the drains was finding its way to the floor and soaking the carpet.  In the Toyotas they route these drains through the “A” pillars and “B” pillars.

I can’t believe how much junk I got out of the drain and where it outlets. Another problem solved, but I would have to question why Toyota would route their drains where they do.

So a word to the wise, check your drains.  It took me a couple days lifting carpet, running fans and dehumidifier to dry it out.

I assume all makes have some kind of drain.  Now I know.

Of course, in Florida today, I think a lot of cars will end up with soaked carpet, and this will probably not be the cause.

Your beautiful granddaughter reminds me so much of mine:  I'm trying to post a recent photo of her but as usual, I'm having difficulty.

I find that humor is helpful in difficult situations. That’s obviously not true for everyone. Since we are still fairly new Floridians, my friend sent me this:

Thats the famous Weather Channel weatherman Jim Cantore?

I saw a clip on CBS news of him hanging on to a street sign for dear life after a tree branch hit him & almost sent him tumbling down the street.

We left Orlando yesterday to go back to NJ. I wanted to stay and wait it out, but it did not make sense. Work project was shelved till end Oct. Will be going back then and after that on a cruise.

Family over FL is staying put with all preparation. Many have pets and will not leave.

I have to stop watching Jim Cantore!!!!! 👀

Darwin award contenders!

I don't think these kids have any idea how strong waves like this can get when all they may have every swam in is the Gulf of Mexico.....................These kind of waves are like some you can get on the East Coast in the Atlantic Ocean........Probably those kids have never seen anything like that before in their life.

I also  think they went in right by that pier because they knew they would be on the restaurants webcam. Showing off !!
