Mild so far, but who knows when she first got it on this trip.  She had a fever last night, but thought it may have been from the Lyme disease, since she is still on meds from that.

I hope that it stays mild for her.  My second time was no worse than my seasonal allergies, my fingers are crossed.

Well, we got back home, from our week at Myrtle Beach, last night.  I will have to write a few updates on food, flights, and hotel, but things are busy at home today.

Meanwhile, Susan brought home this souvenir.

She is no longer a Covid virgin.

Boooooo.  She has the double whammy of Covid and Lyme disease.  I hope she has a mild case and recovers quickly.

Oh poor Susan.  Hope she gets better fast.

OK UPDATE from Columbia……They are pretty sure the pressure and heart rate problem are a part of transplant problems.  A good percentage of them get this but usually much earlier after the transplant.  Twenty years later is rare but Charlie never does anything normal😳. It has something to do with what gets done during the actual transplant operation.  Things get snipped etc.  they are hoping increasing meds will solve this🤞

I’m glad you’re getting some answers and hope the increase in meds does the trick.

@sgmn

+ 1 S & G, DH likes your wheels and hats off for driving on the "wrong side of the road" 😉.... Enjoy !!

To be fair Gary's doing all the driving.  He's perfectly comfortable driving on 'the wrong side'.

I'm the (annoying) human reminder every time we change direction .

So talking about what sites to use, or not use, when booking trips, add Southwest Vacations to one we will not use again.

Susan had booked our Myrtle Beach trip with them, because we had a lot of Southwest gift cards, and she thought it would be easier to book the flights and hotel for the six of us, as a package.

Problem #1, we kept getting an error trying to enter our SW gift card numbers.   So a call to SW, and they say you can’t use SW gift cards, only SW Vacation gift cards (never heard of those)

Problem #2, Then, as we are staying at a Hilton property, I find out they do not credit the night stays, nor the points, and they tack on a resort fee.

I don’t think we actually saved anything over what it would have been to book them separately.

Sue, sorry about the air conditioning and hotel change. Geneva is beautiful.

It is a pain Andrew, but trying not to let it bother us. Only really bad when we're stuck in traffic. After leaving lovely Chamonix we queued in 30+c for an hour to get through Mont Blanc tunnel (and paid €50 for the privilege).  We were both dripping in sweat.

But now in a great hotel in Aosta in Italy for the night.

I'll post some photos of the mountains later

Going out for a very cold beer now 😋

@DaniDanielle Goid that the Drs have determined your Charlie’s situation and that it can be addressed with medication. Wishing him continued improvement.

@h20skibum Not good that your Susan tested positive. I do hope it is a mild case for her.

I also avoided getting the virus until this June.

My symptoms were intestinal, so I didn’t even think of testing until I felt miserable+.
Too late to begin Paxlovid, so Dr said to

ride it out , rest, fluids especially Pedialite or Gatorade to keep the electrolytes going. It has been about a month and I still get fatigued late in the day.

Working on getting exercise and doing things to get my strength back. It is no joke.

I think, in time, there will be no “C” virgins-everyone will get it.

@Sea Dog Hoping your Linda can get some pain relief today.

Wishing all who post here a pleasant day!

MJ🙋🏻‍♀️

Speaking from a lot of experience, I'm always booking directly, and even pay less. Usually you have to sign up free for their club, and.... presto ... better rates.

And also look for AAA deals/rates.

The only hiccup is after having the air con almost rebuilt by our jag specialist, it broke down the first day. Yesterday (friday) it got very hot. OK on the motorways with the top down, but almost impossible hot in heavy traffic once we got to Geneva.

The drive had beautiful scenery,  getting more mountainous and with lots of tunnels through the hills and mountains

Also our hotel, confirmed on Booking.com was overbooked and the hotel had moved us to a sister hotel further from the centre. We refused, got refunded and rebooked another hotel. Annoyed because we didn't find out till we got to the first hotel and they had our contact details.

Anyway once settled in we went out and enjoyed the sights of Geneva and the lake. If you zoom in you can just make out snow on the furthest mountains

Plan today is to get to Chamonix for lunch and to Aosta in Italy for the night. Weather still around 30c but storms expected this afternoon

Beautiful photos.    Thank you for sharing while on your fun adventure.    I love the convertible Jag but sorry the aircon gave out.     I'm looking forward to more about your road trip.     Have Fun!

Happened to us too on Priceline once in NY city. We now book direct.

Same here.    We got burned by booking.com once for a hotel stay in Baltimore.    Then once again by hotels.com, now we book direct w/hotel or book thru amextravel which has always worked for us.

@arzeena    We did it!    We have booked our first flights with Frontier out of Trenton Airport for one way to Tampa for our Sept repo cruise on Serenade.     Tickets were only $59 pp and we did their bundle pkg (the works) for luggage, priority boarding and their premium economy seats as Eric needs the extra leg room being 6'2".

I keep hearing how easy it is to fly from Trenton airport, cannot believe we have never tried it especially since it is approx. 15 to 20 min. drive from our home.

Shame they don't have any flights for our return from Boston so we booked first class with American airlines using our amex points.     First class was only $110 more than economy and FC includes our luggage so worked out well.

We did book the Embassy Suites downtown Tampa for 2 nights pre-cruise (also used our amex points).   I like that they have the breakfast buffet and happy hour for 2 hours every evening.   Plus it is close to the cruise port, riverwalk and trolley stop.

We plan on meeting up with good friends that retired and moved to clearwater area last Fall.

Sorry to hear she brought home an unwelcome souvenir.    Rest and lots of fluids.    Guess she couldn't remain a virgin forever😁

Sounds great! TTN is very convenient.

Embassy Suites is a nice choice for Tampa....but avoid the one in Fort Lauderdale if you ever cruise from there. Clearwater is beautiful. Tampa Chuihily museum, Aquarium are good.Riverwalk is a great place. Enjoy the Serenade. I love it!

We used to really like embassy suites in Ft Lauderdale but after last stay we will not return. I complained about one in Denver that we used to book often and they comped us our entire stay .
