Linda looks great after going through her hand surgery..  I hope she doesn't hurt too very much.

She feels great now because she can’t even feel her arm. We will see later on tonight how she feels when the nerve block wears off. She’s kinda a chatty Cathy now. The drugs must have worked good.

We are home. Linda is doing good and the dogs are already wanting to live on her.  She will take it very easy today. I’m sure the pain will come later after the nerve block wears off.

Thank you for all the prayers, well wishes and concern. I read her a lot of your replies and it made her smile with happiness. My family is the best here!!

Nice photo Greg.

I'm pleased to hear Linda is home and the op was successful.

Prayers 🙏 that you both have little or no pain.

Graham.

Me & Little Miss HBE4 are getting away for a very long weekend. Upstate NY, waaayyyyy upstate NY, deep in the Adirondacks mountains.  About as far as you can go in NY before being in Canada.St Regis Falls, NY which is about 35 miles from Cornwall, Ontario.

Do I need to practice my French-Canadian? 😉

An old college friend of mine has a cabin up there & there are a bunch of us getting together. Like the movie The Big Chill, without the funeral.  Should be a fun 5 days.  While the cabin is fully functional with electricity & running water, but it does not have technology! No internet, Cell service or TV! It does have a landline phone so we are not totally cut off from civilization.

So I'll be off-the-grid for a few days but I just wanted to say good luck to all those facing medical issues - Mrs. Seadog, Mr. DaniDanielle & Jagfan. Sorry if I forgot anybody.  Seems like there was a rash of medical issues in a very short time.

I hope you both have a fantastic time @HBE4.

She looks great and has such good nurses.  Hopefully once the nerve block wears off the pain won't be much.

@Sea DogVery happy to hear Linda's surgery went well.

I know all too well the struggles she will go thru with no use of right hand for a couple of months.

Bathroom tasks were the most difficult for me.

Not easy but she will eventually find a way to make it work.  Then be all better before you know it.

Here's hoping everyone gets a good nights rest with no pain.🍹💐

I think you are exactly right. Now she says it feels really weird as she has no feeling in her arm or hand. I’m sure that will change in a he next couple of hours. Thanks for your advice.

@Sea Dog Lovely photo of Linda and your gorgeous pups. So pleased the op went well.

Agree that  bathroom tasks will be the hardest & putting on her bra.
Ideas:

baby wet wipes

Use bath instead of shower

home visits by hairdresser for shampooing or weekly visits to hairdresser for shampoo etc

Keep Linda away from cooking initially until she becomes adapt at using her left hand.  Not being able to chop or lift saucepans is frustrating.

If driving causes your knee pain to flare, maybe reach out to friends and neighbours, to assist with the driving if Linda needs to be driven somewhere.  My fav part of having a cast on my hand was being chauffeured everywhere.

All the best to you both as Linda recovers.

That lovely October cruise will be here before you know it.

Thank you for the great advice. The next 24 hours will be interesting. She has a great attitude. I hope she we be able to maintain it. After all having limited mobility gets old real fast.

Our road trip is going well. We made good time on Thursday and got to Dijon by 7.30pm. So about 12 hours on the road altogether. Loved Dijon, old but full of life. Great hotel five min walk from the centre. Found a lively square with lots of restaurants and music for dinner.

Next day we had a quick look around the town and on the road again

The only hiccup is after having the air con almost rebuilt by our jag specialist, it broke down the first day. Yesterday (friday) it got very hot. OK on the motorways with the top down, but almost impossible hot in heavy traffic once we got to Geneva.

The drive had beautiful scenery,  getting more mountainous and with lots of tunnels through the hills and mountains

Also our hotel, confirmed on Booking.com was overbooked and the hotel had moved us to a sister hotel further from the centre. We refused, got refunded and rebooked another hotel. Annoyed because we didn't find out till we got to the first hotel and they had our contact details.

Anyway once settled in we went out and enjoyed the sights of Geneva and the lake. If you zoom in you can just make out snow on the furthest mountains

Plan today is to get to Chamonix for lunch and to Aosta in Italy for the night. Weather still around 30c but storms expected this afternoon
