Horrible job on those eggs. Even the scrambled eggs looked gross. She definitely needs to learn about breakfast foods. Rare bobmacliberty Posted April 15, 2021 #13062 Share Posted April 15, 2021 Catching up with some pictures from yesterday. We did our morning beach walk before people starting showing up. Mostly empty beach. This walking route goes by our neighborhood pool. We finally stopped in to check it out. It's shared by 2 related neighborhoods and is centrally located between them, so it's about a 20+ minute walk from our house. We wouldn't walk that far carrying pool stuff and if we are going to drive, we'll drive to our beach club instead...just a couple minutes further away. Might be a good option though if we ever start swimming laps for exercise.

Does that mean when I arrive on the Odyssey that I can go shopping, have a glass of wine, a nice meal, visit fascinating places, and enjoy a country that I have admired my entire lifetime? Or are you saying if we arrived earlier everything would be shut down? JC Independence Day here, a long WE ahead of us. Time for a crash course in Israeli holidays... Every time one of my friends in CC books a cruise to the Holy Land, I try to help, among other things, by pointing out if it's a good time holidays wise to visit (@singinalot lately...). Usually mid-Sept to mid-Oct (~3 weeks). No public transportation on holidays and Saturdays (Shabbat). Jewish New Year (2.5 days) -- all our holidays start at sunset until sunset, so, actually, by mid afternoon-early evening, every thing closes down. In the eve of, traffic at standstill (same like the Passover pic I've posted). Everyone travelling with pots and pans. The 1st full day -- nothing is open. 2nd day - only some of the restaurants. Yom Kippur (the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, 10 days after the New Year) -- a day of reckoning and fasting, for those who observe. Fasting starts at sunset until the day after. The poor tourists who didn't know it are stuck in hotels and food is brought to their rooms by non-Jewish workers. The whole country is at standstill (airport closes at 2am until 10pm the day after). No traffic at all, except emergency vehicles/ambulances, etc. Kids take advantage and ride bicycles in the middle of the roads 😁 For a tourist, 2 whole days lost. Sukkot (4 days after Yom Kippur) -- 8 days. 2 days at the start and 2 days at the end. In between - most of the work places are closed, the schools are out (of course, for the above holidays too), every one is on the road, especially on the touristy places you, JC, would like to visit. Absolutely not recommended. The poor lambs who booked the cruise before you, will arrive smack in the middle of Sukkot (Oct. 10-12). Don't envy them... 3

I hope your grill dinner with 2.5 couples went well. 🙄 Thank you, Bonnie, it went very well. I was a bit worried, since more than an year we didn't host anyone to a sit down dinner INSIDE the house, except the kids and grandkids. I feared I've lost "my touch".... Surprisingly, they arrived on time (that is to say: "only" 15-20 mins late...). They claimed that the parking was non existent, and that was true -- many parties going in the neighborhood. Luckily, we got 2 parking places with the apart., and when the builder got stuck with a less than standard size parking, he offered to sell it to us for a mere 250$... So, 2 of the couples found "refuge" in our parking lot, and the 0.5 "couple", who was a past neighbor of us, knew the "hidden" places to park. DH was grilling outside, and beside, he prepared tahini, hummus, cauliflower with tahini, egg plant salads in different "shapes", and one couple brought a tasty carrot salad, and the 0.5 an "Arabic" salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, cut very thin, with olive oil). Pita bread and road kill potatoes. The other couple brought a very good wine from the Latrun (trappists) monastery. My share was my [by now] famous chocolate cake, with everybody asking for second (and even third) servings. A small step towards return to normalcy, and as Jim/Trainman2 used to say: "a good time was had by all" 😁

As it stands all elective surgeries in hospitals are cancelled in Ontario as of this Monday past. This procedure will be done in the Dr’s clinic, unless provincial regulations change due to the pandemic. Hopefully it goes on as planned. I was hoping to have surgery this year but my retina specialist recommended that I hold off for a while due to the high risk. I have incredibly bad eyes (severe astigmatism) with a fast growing cataract in one eye (typical slow growing one in the other). So, I will be wearing my super thick glasses until then. Luckily I can wear contracts but can't see as well as with the glasses. Contact manufacturers don't make lenses for the small number of people like myself.

erinsmom03 Posted April 15, 2021 #13073 Share Posted April 15, 2021 I haven't been on this thread much. I think I need to stay on here and get to know more of you guys, and stay off the rest of the threads... all people are doing on them is fighting. So tired of all of that nonsense. Love the apes pictures! Sweet baby with its mama! Here in Michigan, just found out my school district is virtual next week, it will be our 3rd virtual week since spring break. Ugh! But, on another note, I get to work from home with these sweet pups and my teenage daughter, who is hybrid in person/online. I've enjoyed spending so much time with her in the past year! It's been a blessing to see so much of her before she heads off to college next year.E554368E-DCBF-4CBD-B6AC-5AC83CC2AFC0.heic 3898F8A0-D346-4AB2-991E-3518CE255C8F.heic 1

I knew Yom Kippur timing, never heard of the Jewish NY, and definitely never heard of Sukkot. So, my timing is apparently good. Now, I just need to have all of the details like, cruises to happen... planes to let me fly to Italy, hopefully no labor strikes in Italy... and the CDC let me take a cruise longer than 7 days, because this trip is like 27 days of cruising.
