Did you know that those Aurea Duplex Suites on Meraviglia are now part of the Yacht Club?

Yes. 😃 I do agree that these type of accommodations are worthy of the YC moniker, but with the new classification, their price also went up substantially. I’m glad that we got to experience them when they cost a fraction of what they cost now!

Carnival ship cancellations released today.

  • All San Francisco sailings through 2020
  • All Carnival Sunrise sailings through and including October 19, 2020
  • All Carnival Legend sailings through and including October 30, 2020
  • All Carnival Radiance sailings through and including November 1, 2020
  • All Carnival Spirit Alaska, Hawaii, & Trans-Pacific sailings through and including October 6, 2020
  • All Other Ships sailings through and including September 30, 2020

Not familiar with Carnival ships/sailings.

Are the cancellations through Oct aimed at specific itineraries and/or destinations? Just curious why they got a longer timeframe?

I would assume the San Francisco "through 2020" is a similar reasoning?

Someone tweeted them yesterday about their September sailing and they responded that they will make their announcement on June 23rd, which is tomorrow.

Can't wait until tomorrow's announcements

I think anyone who continues to book new cruises is nuts. (Not talking about Lift and Shift or rebooking cancelled cruises.)

I have a November Oasis cruise that I booked last November with a NRD so I'm on the hook for that, but for the life of me I don't understand why people are trying to second guess what is going to happen and are actually putting money down for a cruise that has a high probability of not sailing.

Carnival cancels until oct 1... I’m so over rebooking I think I will wait until next year . I actually tested positive for covid yesterday feels like the flu Royal should pick a date they know for sure they can resume instead of this month by month crap it’s annoying dirty planes and casinos are open I don’t see one worker cleaning slots but cruise lines are closed makes. NO sense if I had a comp cruise with Royal from caisno booked for aug can I switch it to next year? They should go honor that!!!

Here's my take on all this. People are becoming way too lax on masking and distancing in the wake of the grand 'reopening' of society. I understand the need for it for business and economy - and even from a societal standpoint since we are social creatures by nature; however, it CAN be done in such a way as to continue the goal to 'flatten the curve' (anyone remember that?). I'm totally ticked off about what I'm hearing and reading - that of people in stores unmasked - including employees. (A local employee - let alone a friend as well - of a store I've been frequenting for 40 years just told me it's "back to business as usual - no masking or distancing". I was dumbfounded. So, as a loyal, longtime customer, I was simply told to "order online and do curbside pick-up". Seriously? For one thing, the store's website is primarily an advertising one. There is no merchandise to be ordered.) I will not shop there anymore anytime soon.

You want to start cruising again? I wouldn't hold your breath. Globally, new cases are at an all-time high the past few days. Several US states are now apparently hot spots with Florida's numbers in particular zooming like a jet. As the vacation season unfolds during the summer and more businesses keep reopening, watch the "curve" turn into more of a vertical line. UNLESS all this changes and people get back to the idea of doing all they can to stop the spread, I can't see cruising resuming ANY time within the near future - even going into next year or beyond. This is not rocket science, but rather common sense that is being thrown to the wind. I wouldn't be surprised if many cruise lines don't even survive this.

Travel agents just notified.  Cancelled until Sept 15.

Sure...and then watch it change to October 15, then November.....etc. unless things improve drastically. All the 'herd immunity' supporters should be happy, since that's what it seems to heading towards anyway. Social darwinism.

The cruise lines can't pick a date.  CDC is the controlling factor.  The cruise lines have plans when they do sail but can't even get the CDC to review them.

I've asked Jimbo this same question, Do you personally know someone in Carnival hierarchy or CDC that has divulged that info to you?

Unless one sits in on those meetings , WE don't know what goes on.

Gatour...makes sense. I really haven't seen much news regarding any of this other than most of what people post here, which is largely conjecture. I anticipate hearing something from Viking (we have a B2B booked in January) by fall, I would think anyway, so as to help people know how to plan - or cancel.

Bahama Paradise apparently can.

I’ve wondered about them. Are they a member of CLIA? Their ship Grand Celebration is the only one so far to get a green status from the CDC, they’ve had their plan of action posted on their website for weeks now, and so far they haven’t canceled their July 25th start date.

Unless they get a direct mandate from the CDC not to sail on that date, I actually think that they may pull it off.

No, and that's why they may not cancel any more sailings unless CDC tells them to.

Very interesting. Definitely keeping an eye on them. Quick 2 night cruises may be the way to get the ball rolling again in the cruise industry. If they are successful, It will definitely entice others to get their ducks in a row.

Today Royal announced they are following the CDCs guide.

I think it may be a bit more accurate to say they are following CLIA agreement (perhaps helped by some unannounced CDC suggestions).
