Hello,

I think RCI is missing a trick here.

(Very) Many years ago there was a children's TV programme on a Saturday mornings called 'The Multi-coloured Swap Shop' (children could seek to swap posters of former pre-pubescent boy-bands for currently pre-pubescent boy-bands etc) - perhaps RCI, or we on CC, could set-up a swap facility along the same lines as the M&M or Roll Call.

Regards,

Cublet

Tony Hart drew me a picture of a dray horse on Swap Shop. I still have it in the loft

This will certainly mess up some people’s Crystal Block collection strategy.

I don't have a strategy, but (if Wonder comes out in November/December), I would have received three crystal blocks from the three newest ships, Spectrum, Odyssey and Wonder - I imagine that would be oddly unique

Do people here ever see a 'Seniors' Discount' on their bookings?

Yes!  I've seen the 55+ actually do something recently.  Same with residents discounts which rarely ever were in play for me since I'm not in Florida.

However like all discounts it depends.  It must not always be combinable because it doesn't appear on all bookings, just like resident rates do not apply to all bookings, just like C&A discounts are not always combinable.  YMMV.

If our cruises all sail In 2021 we will end up getting 5 blocks on 4 sailings.  Each of the four of us is at a different point level.  Only one duplicate block.

All of our blocks have been delivered “per household”. I have 20 points more than my husband, but we only receive blocks per my account.

Is this incorrect?  Should we each receive blocks for the actual point levels?

Thanks.

Seniors, resident and military are all what Royal classifies as tactical discounts.  Applied only to ships and or categories that need a boost in sales which is why they appear randomly.  I’ve seen ships where the discount was only offered on specific categories.

Definitely elusive at times.

Used to like the website several versions ago where you could pull up all the sailings that had these discounts applied to.

It depends on whether you are linked.  If you are linked it is per household if unlinked then it should be by individual. With us it also helps that all 4 are at different point levels so we achieve the milestones on different cruises or in the one case where we receive 2 blocks on one cruise the 2 people getting the blocks are in different cabins.

I'm in Ontario and recently have noticed that the resident discount often pops up...and is a nice savings too.  Don't remember when it started...maybe since covid.

Used to like the website where you didn't have to enter you C&A number 5,000 times a day.

Ontario sees its fair share of resident discount.  A huge market for Royal to offer discounted fares to without reducing the price across all North America allowing everyone to get price drops.  Back several years ago when you could sort by discount type it was not uncommon to see more sailings from Ontario with a resident discount applied than any other province or state, including Florida.

Does anyone still have a valid Crystal Block strategy???    Mine's been in the garbage since April.     I'll revisit it once we start sailing again.

My last crystal block we gave to our excellent head waiter on our Vision B2B2B cruise last January.  He teared up on that..he was so happy and grateful to get it.  His cabin mate had one, told us he always wanted one.  So cute.  I already had one, and didn't need a duplicate.  Have actually given away at least 5 of them, not wanting duplicates.

Interesting how some of us really like the blocks and others get nothing out of them.

Clutter. Last year when I read people were selling on eBay I thought why not. They were in original boxes, never displayed & eventually when our son inherits them they would go directly in garbage. Did the same with all my Hummels, they would have ended up in garbage. I don’t like throwing things in garbage I bring to Goodwill, Purple Heart etc.

On Anthem I gave mine to a newly minted Diamond.  It was her first cruise since her husband passed unexpectedly and her first solo cruise.  I already had a block from Anthem and my bag was already quite heavy with the camera gear and lenses I typically bring so there was that too.   (Who needs another 5lbs in their bag).

I have no idea how many times that word came out if my mother's mouth.😄

I do plan to arrange to cruise on Wonder in 2020 when I am due to get a block.  Hopefully cruising will be back to order by the time Wonder starts sailing.

Speaking of Cyrstal Blocks - Did any of you see the "The Lowdown...A Trip Down Memory Lane" video put out by C&A recently with Ken Rush and Michael Bayley? When they showed and talked about Crystal Blocks neither knew that they were given as C&A milestones and thought they were for Pinnacles. It was on the book with a face social media page for C&A

Yes just booked one and was told double points.

So curious - did you book comp cruise directly with Club Royale?

I would prefer to book a cruise before Dec. 30th with our regular TA & then later on change it to a comp cruise.  Will our TA contct C.R. for us to change it to comp cruise?

Thanks,

NJ

Your TA can now book comp cruises directly for you through Casino Royal.

The only issue is that Casino bookings are direct through Roysl and not through the TA side of the business so there could be issues transferring a TA made regular booking to a casino booking.

Wow - thanks.   That is great news.  Do you recommend that I let our TA know in advance that the plan is to later convert cruise to a comp?  Does it make any difference?

See my post above as Im not sure a TA made booking can be converted.

if you are just trying to hold the room then book the room with a refundable deposit then cancel it as you (Or your TA) are on the phone making the computer reservation.

TA’s now get a flat rate commission on the comp cruises.
