For vaccinated folks, do we HAVE to join the curated tours in order to get off the ship and go walk around Costa Maya?

Thanks!

Thanks. Good to know. We just want to walk around the pier shops. Good to know that we can simply poke around.

Curious your take on the MX pharmacies since you are a local now...

That was NOT me who spoke about the pharmacies.  I use Mexican pharmacies for all my medication needs.  I only spoke about the laws in certain Mexican states regarding mandatory mask-wearing.  I believe it was the OP who distrusted the Mexican pharmacies.  We like being able to get many of our formerly prescription meds without a prescription in our chosen locale.  And I pay less for them than the co-pays I had to pay in the US.

Couple foodie questions:

- Is it easy to make specialty restaurant dining when you board? Can you make it on phone or physically go to one of the restaurants?

- Does Raw on Five still have the Seafood Tower? Like the service?

- I heard Eden stopped the dinner show part, and just have a band during dinner. Is that still true?

Thanks again!!

No.  You can secure an “official” taxi (approved by Costa Maya) to take you where you want to go!

Awesome!  If I wanted to go on a scuba dive shop, would I need an official taxi to pick me back up to bring me back to the port?

When you board, there will be staff making reservations for these restaurants.  You can often get a good deal for the first night.  To get the time and day you want, I advise booking before you cruise.

Reportedly, these deals have not been offered in 2021.  I do have some 10% deals in my cruise planner, Eden, Fine Cut and Rooftop garden appear at the discount.

Edit to add: Generally Prime rib is offered on the first night then on the second Chic night, Lobster and beef wellington

Unsure if one of the "porn stars" was at the Retreat Bar yesterday, but she was definitely out of control with the actions and language

Thought she was quite loud and obnoxious, dropping F bombs and other words.  I guess her tong bikini was appropriate but not one normally seen in the Retreat Lounge area.  To each their own, I imagine?

Service in Raw on Five was top notch, quite outstanding.  The seafood tower was disappointing.  The lobster tail appeared to have been frozen and thawed before boiling.  We each took a bite and decided to not eat the rest of it. Did not want to take the chance of having it just pass straight through us later in the night or today while on a tour.  The crab claws and shrimp lacked any flavor.  Our other items ordered were good and no complaints.

Oh…..this is sad to hear. The seafood tower was the one thing on the menu I was really looking forward to. DH is a total sashimi, sushi , oyster lover however I still prefer my food to be somewhat cooked.

So sad to hear. We were looking forward to it, and had made a reservation....thinking twice now. Thanks.

Thanks for taking time to do a review. I must have missed if you posted this, can you tell me what the requirement of wearing masks on the ship is for indoor areas and outside.

Vaccinated adults (16+) have no restrictions.  The only masks I’ve seen have been on children.  There was talk that all adults on this cruise are 100% vaccinated.  Unvaccinated adults, from my understanding, have to wear masks indoors (except for cabins) and be subjected to additional testing.  I don’t know of anyone I’ve been in contact with that have had to do any of that, as they’ve all been vaccinated.

Outside, you must social distance.  I understand that they did away with the wrist ribbons since adults are fully vaccinated.  So, not sure what the stipulations are if you aren’t and outside.

Didn’t have the seafood tower, but my sashimi and shrimp tempura were quite good.  Will have pics to come.

Just returned from dinner at EDEN.  All I can say is WOW!  Will have more reviews and pics later and talk about them both more.

Don’t know.  That’s something to ask the excursion desk when you sail.  Sorry!

I have yet to see either of them again, since my first encounter with both of them during SAILAWAY.

I’ve heard of others that have sighted them hanging by different pools around the ship.  All have said the same of their encounters with them.  Glad I’ve been able to steer clear.  Still, would like to get pics so there can be faces to descriptions.

I’m pretty liberal with those I don’t have much in common with.  To each their own, as you say.  But, they were both quite vocal about their profession and about their view of….well….everything.   Plus, they were both really quite drunk (and getting drunker) when I ran into them.  So, I chalked it up to tequila.  I haven’t seen them in the Retreat Lounge or the Retreat Bar, though.  Maybe I’m lucky?

I can only imagine the response from the patrons of the Retreat Lounge.  That would be a hoot to witness.

I’m lucky to be in the Retreat.  The Concierges have made all my reservations for me.  So, I don’t have an answer for you.

Speaking of the concierges, I asked one tonight if they could have someone pick up some laundry for me and just charge my account.  I put it in the cloth bag Celebrity put into my cabin.  Came back from dinner and found this and the bag was taken to the laundry.  These people are amazing!

God bless their room steward. 😬 And yes, I would pay for a day pass up there to just observe this setting.

Could always ask the concierge what they heard about the two passengers leaving the ship at St Maarten on the previous sailing.

My guess is the Retreat Concierges aren’t into gossip or I certainly hope they are not.😉

Can’t wait to hear about WOW. We sailed on the Edge and had dinner at Eden in late January 2020 and our reaction was WOW also.
