No sip and cover at the Suncorp stadium Grand final. Not many masks at all. Anna P will not be happy. I fear an outbreak of you know what up there.

Plus a jump in infections in the west after all the footy parties.

Yes, it will probably happen. I reckon Anna P and Qld CHO, Dr Young are seething today.   Well they approved the game going on and now they have to cop the fallout.  Bad scenes in Penriff too streets out of control. IMO the whole NRL season should have been cancelled long ago.

I do understand your frustration, however us nurses and doctors have had to wear those "dirty nappies" for hours while doing procedures to protect our patients without complaint. You do get used to it, especially when you consider it is for the greater good.

Distance between tables is probably a good thing to keep up in a post Covid world.

Many industries have worked throughout the COVID19 period without complaint. Including many industies like distribution and truck drivers  who have to be covid tested every three days and countless other industries.

However, dirty nappies across your face should never seen as a norm going forward. Soon as we work towards getting rid of them the better. How healhty can it be for people to be wearing them long term?

And total buzz kill to wear them on cruise ship while having something to drink and eat.

Another term...'Bite and Cover' to go with 'Sip and Cover,' lol.   Not for moi thank you.

Same.  If I have to eat out less and eat at home more so be it. As for drinking out at pub. I haven't really had a drink throughout this covid period so no desperate hurry to rush out to a bar.

Our club, pubs, restaurants, cafes open up next Monday 11 October for dine in.  One will still have to wear the mask in to the place and you can take it off when you sit down, no sip and cover or bite and cover for me on land or sea or in the air.  So I shall be off to the golf club probably day after reopening for a decent feed.  I am not really in to takeaway food of any description.

Maybe cause I don't cook in my house 🙂 So I just dine at the same restuarant (where I live) everyday. Hmmm do I tell him I want to try some different food. Maybe I pick my moment.

Probably a lot healthier than the air in most cities😂. Masks are actually good for a lot of things besides COVID. I really bought my N95 masks because of the bush fires and they just happen to be handy for COVID. I think having a more Japanese attitude to mask wearing might not be such a bad thing. N95 masks can reduce the severity of high air pollution days, asthma thunderstorms and even other transmissible diseases like colds and flu. I don't think we need to wear them as often as we do during this pandemic but I don't think we should be so quick to ditch them in the future either.

Don’t think there is much wrong with the air in Aussie cities - but agree with some OS.

Making masks a thing is a bit like the “clean” thing - Continue to cover up or wash all the dirt off and our own natural immunity begins to suffer.

Personal choice of course.

Interesting future ahead for illness, following this pandemic - wonder how people felt in 1920 after the Spanish Flu 🙄

They change their policy once the bar takings start going down. That policy is beyond stupid. If that policy is still inforce when I cruise. I be having my drink on my balcony maskless.

Also the policy is stupid period "All guests are required to wear face masks while indoors". So that means in your cabin too. Right?

Maybe it should state "All guests are required to wear face masks while indoors in public areas of the ship".

I just had a look on the Princess forum and it sounds like it's only on Sky Princess so far. There are a few theories being bandied about as to why including a possibility that someone caught Covid onboard - they tested positive a few days after disembarking.

Lift and sip is silly unless you're prepared to use a lot of sanitiser each time, especially in the bars. In the theatre or Princess Live then maybe but the shows are usually short so you could just skip the drinks there. Tables at bars should be spaced with enough distance so it's not necessary.

I wonder if it is a UK govt requirement as the Sky Princess is operating from there and it was required during the summer season as well for cruises from Southampton.

Mask policy varies depending on voyage length.

Voyages less than 10 days:

Whilst we always recommend masks indoors, masks are required at the following locations: in lifts, retail shops, the casino, designated entertainment venues and prior to being seated in all dining areas. Masks are also required during embarkation, disembarkation and when going ashore, in keeping with local guidelines.

Certain entertainment venues will be designated as "Sip and Cover" venues where you must wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth except while drinking.

Voyages 10 days or longer:

All guests must wear face masks covering their nose and mouth while indoors at all times. Exceptions are made while they are eating or drinking, receiving spa treatments relating to the face, during high-intensity exercise, in pools, whirlpools or sauna, as well as in their stateroom.

As general mask guidance, we recommend guests wash their mask daily and choose a good quality, ideally medical grade, standard.

Just had a thought … maybe the sip and cover is required in some areas on some ships because either the  passengers are from a high COVID community like the UK or there is a suspected

COVID case on board in either crew or guest and this is an extra mitigation precaution.

A third thought is maybe Princess is gauging this from a practical trial sense to see if it is helpful or just OTT as we all seem to think. Agree that if everyone is complying with other mask and distancing requirements sip and cover is onerous and impractical and possibly unsafe with all the extra mask touching, masks put down on tables etc.

I hope this gets sorted by the time our first ship arrives in Oz next year (maybe).

Coral Princess arrival is not looking good in Jan and the Worldie is hard to imagine going ahead which means we wait for Sapphire ……and Spring. My money is on P&O Aus to lead the charge to OPT

We have received email from Princess regarding our cruise to NZ in February. I don't think it has a chance of happening, but here are details of the protocols that Princess will be using. I have 'cut and pasted' the relevant sections.

You'll now have the ability to identify your Travel Party ❯ before you sail. That includes your immediate family and other guests you're cruising with. No need to physically distance from these folks whether dining together, sitting at a show, going on shore excursions or even riding in an elevator. For now we ask that you avoid handshakes and hugs, and physically distance when socializing with anyone outside your travel party.

To follow public health protocols, we’ll require guests to be fully vaccinated to sail, which means it’s been a minimum of 14 days past your last dose of a currently approved COVID-19 vaccine. You’ll need to show proof of vaccination – with dates – at the terminal before you board. All guests will need a negative COVID-19 test taken two days prior to embarkation. Learn More ❯. For your convenience, we recommend several test-taking options to meet your needs on our FAQ page ❯

If you haven’t already, make sure everyone in your travel party accepts the passage contract and COVID-19 risk acceptances no later than 24 hours before your vacation. You’ll also need to answer a mandatory health questionnaire within 24 hours of boarding. These documents are required for boarding. You can find them on the Travel Checklist on the MedallionClass® app ❯

If you feel sick, Book with Confidence ❯ details our flexible rebooking options. To be clear, we will deny boarding to any guest or crew member who tests positive for COVID-19 or shows symptoms of illness.
