We decided to go for a drive-thru breakfast, and we noticed a dark cloud to the west when we left.  Less than 15 minutes after we returned home, it began raining.  It was hard at first, but now is a steady rain which will do our grass good.  So I guess, I'll be working on the computer today instead of working outside.

@dfish  Debbie, that is good news that you are not as sore today.  I'm glad you got a good report from the doctor, and a better understanding of the adrenal mass.  It's always good to have a plan in place.  A good caring doctor is a treasure.

@Cruising-along  Carolyn, thank you for the pictures from Yellowstone.  It has been too long since we spent time there.  Looks like you are wearing the DGS out, not the other way around.

@kochleffel  I'm sorry your are feeling mildly ill, and I hope tomorrow's test is also negative.   Normally, I would not say this, but I hope it is only allergies.

@Horizon chaser 1957  When I saw the picture of the blouse, my first thought was wow.  It is the prettiest and most colorful print yet.  Good to know you are getting a head start on preparing for the World Cruise.

By the time I finished typing, our rain had stopped.  We'll take any rain we can get.  I hope the western US can get much needed rain soon, but in slow, steady rains that don't cause mudslides.

I take it you're going ashore today.

Roy

Yes I did but didn’t stay long. Later in the afternoon it turned into a beautiful day.

Annie @marshhawk — I didn’t make it to the church. I wonder, did your father have to pay for the new window?  That’s quite a memory to have from a beautiful place.

Sailing away:

I went to the CC M&G and they took a group picture, I think I’m the only one wearing a mask. I don’t know where it gets posted though. The organizer said CC requests a picture. I never knew that. I met a lovely couple from Calgary and we are on the same tour in Naples.

Roy ( @rafinmd ) asked if my Alaska trip 3 years ago was the first time I posted from a ship. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure I did even for that trip.

Prior to the 'pause', the fleet report was automatically generated each morning at 6am from files I prepare in advance. I know that @kazu did a copy and paste for at least one of my cruises, and a friend locally used my account to post during my trans Pacific cruise in late '19. From the Caribbean I'm pretty sure I posted myself, but not as sure about Alaska but I seem to remember mentioning that the report would be a little later because I was in the Pacific time zone.

I wish we could share some of ours in the Pacific Northwest. We had over 100 inches last year and already have over 60 inches this year. It was sunny this morning when I got up, but after a walk and a little work at the church, we got a squall that came with thunder and lightning. It is a rare day here that it doesn't rain this year.

While we can always use rain in Texas, I think your neighbors to the south and southeast of you could use it even more than we can.  It's too bad the rain can't be "shipped" where it is needed and allow others places to dry out a little.

When we came home from the Zuiderdam with Covid, DH was feeling mildly ill and we both tested negative. The next day I felt off too, and we both tested positive. The body seems to react to the virus sooner than the home tests do.

Get  well soon.

Good morning. We certainly could use some of that rain. None in our forecast for the next 10 days. Highs are in the low 80's and nights into the mid-40's. I love my early morning walks with the little Bandit.

I will be spending this afternoon at the shelter since this is our annual Adopt-a-thon, plus it is also the beginning of our 50 year celebrations. Right now I am waiting for a package of frozen stuff to be delivered so that it does not sit outside in the sun. Usually Fed-X gets packages to me between 10 and noon. We shall see.

We are having increasing covid cases. Fortunately most are mild allergy like. I have tested myself a couple of times as I get to feeling a bit off, but so far so good. Probably age. Because of the winds most of us prone to allergy folks have really suffered this season. Guess mild cases are the best we hope for if we are unlucky enough to meet the virus face on. I would love a doughnut right now but will refrain as I am watching carbs, blood sugar and my weight. Honestly it sometime takes the fun out of eating.

Take care all. My best wishes to those who need a change of luck and the rest of you, stay safe.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

A salute to all 3 days. No donuts here today, as I've finally been eating better. I have a bicycle but haven't ridden in a long time. Interesting quote.

I'll pass on the meal (fish) and the drink. I'll take the wine.

I haven't been to today's destination. Thanks for all pictures.

It's partly sunny and still in the 60's. I'm chilly with the window open! Our weekly county Covid numbers are up, with 159 hospitalizations and 15 deaths. It's definitely not over, as some think. I again had itching and a welt at my injection site, so I sent pics off to the doctor's office; it seems to lessen as the day goes on, then recurs. It's tolerable, but I worry the next one may cause a worse reaction.

@kazu Wishing you peace and strength.

@dfish Good that your doctor's visit went well and you're more informed now. I hope your post-op pain is minimal soon.

@travelingbums Bon Voyage!

@aliaschief I hope the foot feels better soon; good to give it a rest.

@Heartgrove Good to hear your brother is out of the hospital; hopefully rehab is beneficial. Interesting sounding travel plans.

@rafinmd Sorry to hear the cubmaster has Covid and the necessitated changes for the Cub Pack.

@Cruising-along Thanks for the Yellowstone pics. I loved the colorful geysers when I was there.

@kochleffel I hope your testing remains negative! And feel better.

@Horizon chaser 1957 Love the shirt!

Praying all the FL Dailyites stay safe from wind and flooding.

Prayers for the Care List, especially Ukraine. Cheers to the Celebration List.

Try to stay safe everyone.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, that is strange about the itch and swelling in the mornings.  Hope the doctor can give you some answers and that it is not something to worry about every time you have an injection.

@Heartgrove  That is good news that your brother is out of the hospital.  Sorry you had to change your summer plans, but if it makes you feel easier with the family situation, then it's for the best.

@rafinmd  Roy, that is not good news about the scout master, but glad he only has mild symptoms.  I know everyone must be unhappy about the change of plans, but the new plan sounds like a good solution.

I was on board NSDM and NADM in February of '19 so I would have done the report from them. I'm pretty sure I was already doing the report at that time.

Thank you for using the correct acronyms!

Baltimore hosts dragon boat races in the Inner Harbor. The Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge started as a local scrimmage in 2009, but now draws teams from across the Midwest and East Coast. The Under Armour waterfront becomes a tent city as teams rally for 500-meter and 2000-meter races. The race is covered by local TV news, and in 2018 the mayor declared the BDBC Challenge to be the official Dragon Boat Day in Baltimore.

Good Afternoon All, thanks for the daily report.  This afternoon was supposed to be a quiet work afternoon. That fell apart quickly.  Yesterday the hospital where DH works held a pride flag raising and he was in the group photo that’s on the web  site.  He’s happy about that.  @dfish I’m glad that you are on the mend.  Please take it easy.  When DH had that procedure he was out of work for a week.  I’ll pass on today’s meal suggestion, we are having leftover port roast.

I just got a survey from HAL.  After work is done I’ll open it.  They say it will take 20 to 30 minutes.  I’ll have some wine while I’m working on it.

@Sharon in AZYes, my father did have to pay for that window, the priest came out of the church, asked who had thrown the rock, the two French boys pointed at me, and the priest asked where I was staying and followed me back to the hotel. Either way you look at it, Mon pere nes pas joyeau (excuse my spelling please).

@HeartgroveI'm sorry you had to rearrange your plans, but happy you'll be sailing with some of us on the Oosterdam!

@dfishI'm glad you had a good appointment with your doctor that resulted in clarification for you.

@marshhawkI can only imagine how un-joyeaux your pere was with you!  LOL

Thank you to everyone for this family thread!

I'm just checking in to say the DH is feeling much better. Naturally, I am now testing positive for COVID but that happened after we got home from Vancouver. Thanks to @Cruzin Terri for thinking of us yesterday. I have a mild sniffles, an itchy throat, and a weeeee bit of a headache. The first two are normal for this time of year, so if DH hadn't tested positive, I wouldn't think to have done the same.

I've mentioned that one of the most disappointing parts of this whole thing is not being a a BHB when my sisters are getting their first taste of HAL. Today, I got a message about a 'free cruise' (basically a casino deal) that one sister got. I reassured her that the offer was a good and legit and both are now booked for next summer. I, again, won't be with them because it overlaps my Voyage of the Vikings, but I was soooooo excited that she got the deal!

Prayers for those who need them, cheers to those celebrating, and Blessings to All.

Well, today went downhill fast. After having had to reschedule my pre-surgery appointment from a couple of weeks ago because DGD tested positive, today was the day-not quite what the hospital wanted but the 1st available appointment. At 8:29 am I receive a call from the clinic that they've canceled my appointment because the doctor isn't available. And no, they aren't able to reschedule me with anyone. 😬 Our local clinic contracts with Kaiser but isn't officially Kaiser facility. I was close to a Kaiser office by then (in Seattle) so stopped in and after searching the entire Puget Sound area finally found an opening for Monday afternoon. I certainly didn't want the Wednesday surgery postponed! I think my blood pressure is finally back to normal. Hope everyone is having a better day than this. (Rant over-thanks)

They say 5-7 days, so I am taking it easy.  Haven't done much today.  My biggest problem is boredom.

I really liked this doctor.  Friendly, personable, and informative.  He didn't expect me to just accept his word and showed me.  He even showed me how they take measurements on those images.  It is pretty hard to mess that up.  You draw a line from point A to point B and the software computes the length.  The expertise comes in knowing where to draw the line.

My blood pressure would be sky high, too.  Sit back and put your feet up.  Have a glass of wine if you can.

Well, our rains came back today after two dry days.  Still preferable to drought.  Today we also had zongzi for lunch to celebrate Dragon Boat Day.  I remember watching the dragon boat races on the Tamsui River in Taipei when stationed there.  Taiwan has a lot of National Holidays and so does the U.S.A., and while stationed there we got to celebrate all of them.  A good deal for us as I don't remember any special Philippine holidays while stationed there.

We have three bicycles that have been hanging in the garage for about the last 15 years.  Not sure what to do with them.

Got an email today from HAL congratulating us on our next cruise and listing a lot of pertinent information including covid rules.  Our two other cruises were booked in April and we received nothing from HAL.  Perhaps their headquarters is finally getting caught up in its paperwork.
