Starting on March 3rd, 2023, the new wine and champagne allowance for Royal Caribbean will be one (1) 750 mL bottle, per adult of drinking age, per sailing. The bottles should still be brought via hand luggage/carry on and not in checked luggage. We recommend each guest bring their bottle in their respective carry-on bag for security purposes.

Can you provide a link to this information?    We cruise on March 26.

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/onboard-alcohol-guest-policy

Guests are not allowed to bring beer or hard liquor onboard for consumption or any other use.

Alcoholic beverages (beer, seltzer or hard liquor) seized on embarkation day will not be returned. Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under the legal drinking age, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them. Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids.

On embarkation day, each guest of drinking age may bring one (1) sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne. Boxed wine and other containers are prohibited. Guests who purchase alcohol bottles onboard, in a port-of-call, or bring more than the one permitted bottle on boarding day, will have their items safely stored by the ship. These bottles will be returned on the last day onboard for enjoyment once home.

For consecutive sailings, guests of drinking age are allowed to bring one (1) 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne for each individual sailing. Additional bottles will be stored by the ship and delivered, one bottle at a time, to the stateroom on the first day of each new voyage. Guests bringing more than one bottle at the start of the first sailing should have documentation for any consecutive sailings available to share with security.

Good info.  Can only help with more than a couple adults in a room.

Thank you.  I had previously heard that it was 2 bottles per cabin.  So had planned to take 2 bottles even though we had one adult and one child.   I wonder how closely this is enforced sailing out of Bayonne on Anthem.  We are D+, so it isn't a problem for us, but no one else in our family group has "status".

Hurts the solo cruiser though.

Though too many took advantage.  Lots of couples were doing 2 each and saying it was their 2 per cabin allotment.

Had to come since so many cant follow rules and push the cruiselines to tighten rules.

This change has a lot to do with Spring Break coming up.  They are also not going to allow open bottles and those with liquid in their yeti cups on boarding will be asked to dump the liquid....

I disagree.  It's straightening out the argument about "how many per cabin".  Now it's more straightforward:  one per person.

And they have always disallowed open bottles and cups of any kind.  I witnessed this in Cape Liberty four days ago.  They made my grandson throw out his partially consumed bottle of chocolate milk.  (and several other people in line)

Well, bummer.  I was planning on four bottles.   Two cabins, two adults and two children.
We have some friends that decided to join us and they aren't big drinkers so I can probably have them carry a couple through security.   Or we make sure and go through security at the same time.

The old policy has been around for years and spring break is nothing new.  Imo this change has zero to due with spring break coming up.

This is penalizing solo travellers who are paying double the cruise fare.

You can probably thank all the folks abusing the old system.  Regardless, it is much more simple to allow one per person.

If you are paying double, a few glasses of wine is not much relative to the cost of the entire trip, so not really that big of a deal.  And not all solo travelers pay double.  So there is that issue as well.  And by bring up price, one could argue those who pay more should get

to bring more bottles.  But it has never worked that way.

Lots of arguments on all sides could make sense.  I can’t blame them for simplifying it for security.

But we are now getting a nice discount on bottles of wine on board.  A discount that used to only be part of the UDP.

True, but the onboard prices for a bottle of wine even with a discount are much higher than the price for a bottle in a retail store that can be carried on.
