dfish Posted September 30, 2023 #26 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning, everyone! It is going to be a nice day here in mid-Michigan with abundant sunshine and temps in the mid 70s. Who could ask for more? Safe travels to all our cruising Dailyites. We have nothing planned here except for trying to change out the light fixture on the post out front. The current one is really ugly, but the problem is we can't get the screws out. I bought some WD 40 yesterday and hope that will help. Once we get the old one off it should be an easy job. I also bought paint for the post to spruce it up a bit. We've been on a bit of a lasagna streak with spinach lasagna, vegetarian lasagna, classic lasagna, and others. So, since we're at the start of soup and stew season, why not Lasagna Soup? Let's give it a try! The one thing to remember is to store it without the cheese in it. Add that when served. https://tastesbetterfromscratch.com/lasagna-soup/ This one has a video tutorial for those who like to use them. https://carlsbadcravings.com/easy-one-pot-lasagna-soup/ Here's one for the slow cooker. https://cafedelites.com/easy-slow-cooker-lasagna-soup-recipe/ And just to provide variety, here's a white chicken lasagna soup. https://carlsbadcravings.com/white-chicken-lasagna-soup-recipe/ I hope these recipes give you ideas for your kitchen! Wishing everyone a wonderful day. 21

Seasick Sailor Posted September 30, 2023 #28 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning Daily-ites I woke thinking of white rabbit but that's tomorrow. Looks like another 4 days forecast in the 90's. If we get the rain expected on the 4th thru 7th it should cool down to 80's. What a long hot summer. Lenda hoping Steve is feeling less pain today. Hoping for a wonderful aide for Tana. Prayers for baby Murphy. And to all who need extra thoughts and prayers today. Bon Voyage @cruzn single @Ichiban Nekko and @WannaSea 🍾 My girlfriend is vegan as well as a translater for the deaf. When she gets excited her hands go flying.. Our friends got back last night from their Viking cruise. Having friends over tonight for drinks to hear about their trip. Have a great Saturday. Blessings to you. 23 1
marshhawk Posted September 30, 2023 #29 Share Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Happy Saturday Morning Dailyites! I have to admit that except for watching MidSomer Murders on Roku and Formula 1 I have not watched TV or listened to much news in the past 3 weeks. I know it is flooding in NY, and in the tri state area, so for all of you there, I hope you are well and safe. I caught up with reading the end of yesterday. If there is a meet and greet on my next Carnival cruise, I will never know about it. All participants these days seem to be on the book of face, where i do not go. I found out years ago that our bosses would base their hiring and promoting on what people posted. As you all know I sometimes rant about things, and God forbid they should read that and decide what my future would be based on a single moment in life. Now I dont work for that company any more, but several of my bosses now came from there, so I remain quiet. DH says that's ok, we always make friends on cruises, and most folks we meet dont even know about Cruise Critic! (silly people). The tree man showed up, cut up the tree, threw all the wood in a chipper and left, all for 400 bucks. Not bad, but he didn't take any of the trees that the pine took down. When questioned he said that the quote was for the pine. So I still have to deal with the squashed camillia , the totaled crepe myrtle and the 60 year old muscadine vine. I have not been back to the mosquito infested backyard to see if any of it was cut off from the fence. I think DH said the quote was from the wall to the house. I wish there was a breakfast fairy, that would just place some bacon and eggs in front of me. Oh wait! I'm the breakfast fairy! I think I'm on strike. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted September 30, 2023 #30 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning from a sunny and cool central Texas. It is 71F and feels like 71F. While the humidity is 87%, the dew point is 67F so it shouldn't bee too bad for my walk. Our high will be 94F, but by then we'll be inside watching the Texas 🤘 v Kansas game. You know who we will be cheering on this afternoon. We both slept well last night. DH said it's the best nights sleep he's had in more than a year. The pain in his neck where the line from the shunt was placed is bone this morning, but then he is taking some heave duty pain meds for a while longer, and is staying ahead of the worst of the pain He said just getting to sleep well at night made the last two painful days worth it. I could see an improvement in his walking and his alertness. Three interesting days to celebrate. I think I'll substitute Canada's National Day of Truth and Reconciliation for Mud Pack day. I wish the US would have such a day as our record with the Native Americans is not good either. If younger DD and her SO were here, I'd get to hug our two vegetarians. I'll salute translators, and I sometimes need help translating English. 🤣 An interesting quote from C. S. Lewis. I've met some people did not seem to be from this world. Lasagna soup looks interesting, but it is still not soup weather here yet. We'll pass on the drink and the wine. We have not been to Suva. Maybe someday. Another three good days in history to honor. Without the ethernet and the beginnings of the internet, DH would not have been able to run his company. Our first adventures on the World Wide Web were on Prodigy. @kazu Jacqui, I hope you can get all the bulbs ready for winter today. @rafinmd Roy, have a great time, and check in whenever it is convenient. @aliaschief Bruce, the front door looks wonderful. @cruising sister Lorraine, I hope you get some great news about Murphy this weekend. The fact that she is still with us is good news. @lindaler Linda, safe travels to San Diego tomorrow. @dfish Debbie, I hope the WD-40 works. It can work miracles. @Seasick Sailor Joy, you gave me a scare when you mentioned white rabbit. I'm glad it's tomorrow, since DH and I had a long conversation first thing this morning. We still need good luck for his recovery. @marshhawk Annie, just getting the big pine out of there should make getting rid of the other tress easier. If possible, they could wait for cooler weather when the mosquitoes are gone. Lenda 15 1
marshhawk Posted September 30, 2023 #31 Share Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) @smitty34877 I hope that you are closer to getting a new aide for Tana. @Quartzsite CruiserI am hoping that you got a good night's sleep, and your DH is dealing well with his pain. To me, the darkest hours are right before dawn. (I turn on soothing enya music) And the pain is always worse, the day after you get home. If you are not sleeping well, maybe ask a neighbor to watch over your hubby, for a few hours, so that you can get a nap. @Quartzsite Cruiser Oh, you posted while I was posting. I am so glad your hubby got a good nights sleep, and that he is staying ahead of the pain! @HAL Sailer I hope that you are finding some calm in the midst of this current storm in life. You are in my thoughts and prayers. @JazzyVI hope that you had less pain, and that each day gets better. please note that none of these pictures were taken by me. I'm more this speed with a camera.- Edited September 30, 2023 by marshhawk 27
ger_77 Posted September 30, 2023 #32 Share Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I haven't had a mud pack in ages, send virtual hugs to all vegetarian Daily-ites, and am grateful for those who translate for others. Today is also a day in Canada to learn the history of residential schools, their victims, and survivors; it's called National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. I'll be wearing my orange shirt today and already have our "Every Child Matters" flag on the lawn. There was a danger of frost overnight, although this morning when I got up it was still +2, but we made sure to bring the succulents and curly figs onto the deck and closed all the windows. At some point (I think around 5) DH got up and turned on the little space heater, so when I got up a couple of hours later it was still +4 on the deck, so all is well. We want to keep them outdoors as long as we can because they're inside for such a long time and don't do nearly as well. @smitty34877prayers for you, your family, and for a new aide for Tana. I've been watching the news and the horrible flooding in New York; I hope you don't have too much damage to your property, inside and out. @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm happy both you and DH got some rest last night - hopefully it will continue and DH won't have to be on the strong painkillers too long. @cruzn single, @Ichiban Nekko, and @WannaSea Bon Voyage to you! @JazzyVI do hope you can fine a solution to your pain - you need to rest. @kazuI'm sure your friend appreciated being with you yesterday, having gone through just what she is now. I wish both of you better days ahead. Not much happening here today - we have to run out and get more bird seed for the pigs with wings. The northern pigs have been coming through and totally emptying the feeders, so there's nothing left for the little chickadees that normally hang around the yard. Oh, and kitty litter - that's as important as having toilet paper in the house! I'll take a pass on the drink of the day, will let others enjoy the white, and while I've made lasagna soup in the past, we found it quite acidic. I think the next time I would put some cream or half & half in just before serving so it calms it down somewhat. I like the white chicken lasagna recipe, and will definitely tuck it away for a colder day. DH has asked for meatloaf - how easy is that? I'll put that together this afternoon and we can enjoy it along with mashed potatoes and air fried asparagus on the deck tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry Edited September 30, 2023 by ger_77 25
sailingdutchy Posted September 30, 2023 #33 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Hello Daily Friends hope you are all having a nice fall day like we are having in SW Ontario , waking up with 13 C and temps going up to 25 C . Trees are turning and hundreds and hundreds of birds are coming through our woods on their way South to warmer climates. We are slowly getting our suitcases out for the Spanish Farewell cruise on the ms Oosterdam which is our way to look for warmer climates . I notice on the Daily that a lot of our Daily friends have similar desires and are getting on board soon , that is great to see! I found some pictures of Suva that I would like to share with you since I did not see many today . These are from our Pacific crossing in April 2013 , it was a very , very hot day so we did not stay out too long He scared me for a minute when we left the ship , headhunters in Fiji ……! The police band gave us a nice welcome . Have a great weekend everybody , Take Care and Stay Safe ! Tony 😄😁 28
dobiemom Posted September 30, 2023 #34 Share Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Good morning. Work was busy yesterday getting ready for the potential (probably gonna happen) shutdown. 😳😡 Then a nail appt and babysitting the grands. I tried reading when I could but I just got done reading yesterday’s Fleet Report and Daily. Today’s agenda is much quieter. Just a phone call with sis to discuss our Dec cruise, and I volunteer at church again this weekend. Thank you for the HAL fleet report and all the daily information. Thank you all for caring and sharing. Prayers 🙏 for everyone who needs them. Cheers 🎉 for all the celebrations. Now back to the top. 😉 Edited September 30, 2023 by dobiemom

Rare Crazy For Cats Posted September 30, 2023 #36 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good Morning, thanks for today’s report. After waking me up at 2:30 Mona let me sleep until 5:30. I made a quick trip to Aldi this morning since they have boneless chicken thighs on sale and that will be dinner tonight. @dfish the lasagna soup recipes look good. DH keeps going back and forth on whether or not he wants to go to PA next weekend. I realized that I could go to Green Dragon on Friday so that’s on my agenda. I hope everyone has a good day today.

durangoscots Posted September 30, 2023 #38 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning!!!! Cool here with high predicted up to 71 this afternoon then then temps are due to drop and the next 10 days highs will be in the low to mid-60's and it looks like a hard freeze is on the way. What we need is some rain. Will probably come mid-October (see below). @sailingdutchyThanks for the pictures of Fiji. Hopefully I will get there on the Grand Australia. The big thing on my agenda in the immediate future falls mid-October when Sepp Kuss will be coming home and the town is planning to throw a really big party. @Quartzsite CruiserGlad you were both able to get more rest last night. Being home really makes a difference. I hope things begin to improve for those with health and weather issues.... and happy sailing to those who are lucky enough to be cruising. So far my preparations for January are pretty limited. I have got to get my lists compiled and then, even more importantly, some things crossed off of them. I am just not organized. Cruising-along Posted September 30, 2023 #39 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning all! Another beautiful day in the PNW, sun and low 60's. I hear we'll get up to the mid 70's next week (!) No mud pack for me, and I don't know any vegetarians to hug. We travelers especially will appreciate translators. I'll pass on the drink but know I would love the wine from NZ. Also would like the meal if someone makes it for me -- DH isn't crazy about soups for a meal so I most likely wouldn't make it at home. We will be in Suva on the Grand Australia, thank you Tony @sailingdutchy for the photos! Today will be another day of garden cleanup and trip planning. DH is working again today. Bon Voyage Mary Kay @cruzn single, Cat and Dave @Ichiban Nekko, and Sue @WannaSea! Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm so glad you and Steve had a good, restful night last night. Annie @marshhawk That's terrible about how the supervisors at work use FB to hire/promote people. Not good! But if a person doesn't post everything publicly they shouldn't be able to see those posts. For instance, someone looking for a job wouldn't usually be friends with that supervisor so his or her posts wouldn't be visible to the supervisor. The same for those whose insurance won't cover them if they post their trips on FB --- the insurance company wouldn't see those posts unless you post them publicly. I never, ever post publicly, it opens yourself up to scammers etc. My posts are visible only to my friends. 24
luvteaching Posted September 30, 2023 #40 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning, We have a beautiful sunny day today but on the cooler side which is fine. I've been busy taking care of things. I still have a few loose ends to wrap up on DH's bills and it's hard to do that when people don't call back! I did order a new dryer yesterday and it will be delivered in a week. My old one isn't drying well and often takes two cycles for heavier items. DS checked the vent and it was clear so I think it's just age. I'm at the point I'd rather replace it before it goes. The old one is a Kenmore and the new one is a basic LG. I don't need wifi! I'd get it if the washer would take the clothes out of the hamper, wash them, move them to the dryer, dry them and fold them. Talk to me about it then! hee.... This afternoon I'm having dinner with DH's sister and her husband at their place so that will be a nice treat. They're hoping for crab but we'll see if it happens. Have a good weekend. JazzyV Posted September 30, 2023 #45 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I've never tried a mud pack and don't know any vegetarians to hug. Translation is important for communications. Interesting quote. I like the meal. Pass on the drink and wine. I've never been to Fiji. 3 good days in history. I'll also recognize the important Canadian National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Today will be sunny and it's warming up. 71F now, with a high of 77. The next week will be nice and warm, but not hot. I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to do some yard work later. Last night wasn't quite as bad, as I only had pain when I woke up, and managed to sleep through the night. Thank you to those you have kept me in your thoughts and prayers regarding this pain issue. I was up too late watching "Call the Midwife" on Netflix; I just found it, really like it and there are 12 seasons! I'm only up to season 4. I hope all in or around NY State who got inundated with rain are ok. @cruzn single @Ichiban Nekko @WannaSea Bon Voyage! @HAL Sailer Praying that your DH is showing some improvement. @smitty34877 I hope you weren't affected too much by the flooding. I'm hoping there's a good aide found for Tana in the immediate future. @rafinmd I'm glad you made it safely onboard QM2 with that horrible weather in NY. @aliaschief Your door and entryway are beautiful. @cruising sister Continued prayers for Murphy. @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm glad you both slept well and that Steve is having less pain today. Wonderful that he's walking better and feels more alert already! @marshhawk Good that the pine tree is gone, but it sounds like there's still a lot to do with the other trees and vine. @sailingdutchy Thanks for the wonderful Suva photos. Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those with something to Celebrate. 20

Rare Vict0riann Posted September 30, 2023 #47 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Good morning, Dailyites, many thanks to Rich and all the Dailyites who post with interesting items of news. Prayers for those that need them and cheers to those celebrating. I hope @smitty34877 is faring okay in all the rain. DS and his partner are vegans, one step up from Vegetarians, I'll give him a hug when next I see him, but it won't be today. I am recording the Ryder Cup and we will probably be watching that, off and on, all day! Yesterday I got my Prolia shot, I was feeling weird all day, but I think it was because I took some Robax for a sore back. I will try to remember to just take Tylenol from now on. We've been to Fiji, but it was to the port of Lautoka, not Suva, so I won't bore you with my pictures! Chief, that is a beautiful and very welcoming door. We'll all come and knock on it! We won't have lasagna soup today, but DD is making her own modification of a tom yum (?sp...) soup for this evening. If she makes it really spicy I won't be happy, but Pat will! I feel the need of cornbread muffins, so perhaps I will make some of those to go with the soup. We have been collecting things for the church bazaar and I think the muffin pan went to them, Oh well.... I'm planning to start cutting back the dahlias in the courtyard today, it may take me a few days to get it all cleared away. But it must be done! I'd better go and get on with it, and stop socializing. 22
