Good morning, everyone!

It is currently a chilly 33F but we are supposed to have mostly sunny skies today and a high of 51F.  River is protesting having to go home today.  She says she wants to stay here for a year.  We will have her back for Thanksgiving.

Thanks @StLouisCruisers and @GTVCRUISER for your pictures of Kona.  That is one of the stops on our Hawaii cruise next February and Sue and I are so excited.

Today's meal is a good one for watching football.  I might try one of these recipes this week.  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/patrick-and-gina-neely/white-chicken-chili-recipe-1922199

I like the looks of this one because of the lime on top.  https://www.cookingclassy.com/white-chicken-chili/

Here is a crock pot (slow cooker) version.  Put it on in the morning and it is ready at dinner time.  https://www.thechunkychef.com/slow-cooker-creamy-white-chicken-chili/

Good morning from central Texas where it is 58F and feels like 57F.  It is partly cloudy with a 6 mph breeze.  We must have fog again this morning since the humidity is 100% with a dew point of of 58F.  It will be a bit windier today with an 11 mph wind this afternoon, along with a high of 78F.  Today, I'll be getting more of our stuff out of the motorhome, and hopefully weeding some of the accumulated stuff out.  Tomorrow, we need to get it inspected and registered so it will be legal to drive it to the dealer when the new motorhome is ready in a week or so.

We don't watch very many NFL games, but we celebrated American Football Day yesterday with a win by Texas.  We like Chinese food, but there is no place nearby for take out today, and the Chinese restaurant that was here was not very good.  My mother was the red head in our family.  She had naturally red/auburn hair and the fair, easily sunburned skin to go with it.

There is a ring of truth in the Kurt Vonnegut quote, but I don't think I pretend to be anyone but myself.  That makes life a bit easier.

White chicken chili sounds good for a cooler day.  The drink might be worth a try, and I would definitely give the wine a try.

We have been to Kailua-Kona several times, but I don't remember how many.

In 1492 Columbus learned a valuable lessen that changed our diets.  In this area of Texas, farmer grow a lot of corn, but it is mainly for feed for cattle.

@grapau27  Graham, thanks for the explanation of Guy Fawkes day.  It's been several years since I learned the story, and a fresher was good.

@smitty34877  Terry, I'm very happy that Lou's gathering was good if emotional.  It's always nice to hear how much a loved one meant to others.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, thanks for the pictures.  I think the new color on the palace looks better.

@rafinmd  Roy, I hope your packing goes smoothly today.

@kazu  Jacqui, I  hope your weather cooperates today.  It's nice that your guy is helping you rehome some of your things.

@aliaschief  Bruce, I'm happy your Seabourn cruise is going so well.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, I hope you had a better night last night, with more sleep and much less pain.

@Crazy For Cats Jake, as difficult as the time change is for humans, it is much harder for our furry family members.

My pictures below are from our three BHB stops in Kona,  We were there in 2014 on Veendam, and in 2017 and 2018 on Westerdam.  We rented cars those days and drove north to Kapaau.  I have a few pictures of the area near the tender dock that were taken in 2017.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!   We don't often watch American football, but for all you fans, cheer loudly for your favourite team!  Our usual Chinese take-out restaurant closed during the pandemic and we haven't found one as good to replace it.  No red hair in our family.

I hope everyone enjoyed their extra hour of sleep last night - as I mentioned yesterday, we stay on the same time year 'round.  @bennybear we are on Central Standard Time all year, which means we have luxuriously long days in the summer, but really long nights in the winter.  You get used to it and just go with the flow.

Last year on this date we boarded the Oosterdam at Barcelona for our 5th trans-Atlantic cruise - DH was surprised because we'd received an offer for an upsell to a Signature Suite and I didn't tell him until he opened the door.  It was nice having the extra space, but not as much as the Neptune, which we felt was too big for just the 2 of us.

@Lady HudsonBon Voyage; enjoy your cruise!

@smitty34877I'm happy you had such a nice send off for Lou; although it brings tears, they are a necessary part of grieving.  I'm sure there were lots of good memories brought out for you.

@Quartzsite Cruiser you bought a new motorhome?  I must have missed that on another post!  What kind?  When do we get to see it?

It's a busy day for me today because we're having what I'm calling "Ukrainian Thanksgiving" because it's 2 weeks after the regular one, just like Christmas.  Our new family will be coming over, as well as another couple of friends of ours - she made them a lovely quilt as a welcome gift, and they really didn't have a chance to get to know them, so we've invited them to spend the time together.

As much as I'd like to try today's menu suggestion, I'm going to tuck it away for another day.  It's looking like a traditional meal for us - roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a myriad of vegetables, cranberry sauce and tossed salad, with peach pie for dessert - we heard they love peach pie.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, especially those in pain, and those innocents involved in wars.  Cheers to all with celebrations.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Thank you all for the good wishes.  On the road now and then nothing planned until February.  Good thing with the holidays coming up and Thanksgiving at my house.  Thank goodness for Wegmans catering!  Have a great day.  (Eagles playing and I am wearing my Eagles green!). Katherine

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

I like football (Go Steelers!). I don't do Chinese takeout, but eat at Chinese restaurants with BFF sometimes. No red hair here. Good quote. I like the meal and wine. Pass on the drink. I have been to Kona.

it's going to be a nice day. Unfortunately too early to get leaves to the curb, and the next 2 days are supposed to be windy. Well, another bad night. I woke up after about 2.5 hours of sleep, with pain. I sat up in bed to try to ease it. Still awake, about 3:30AM the power went out. I looked on an emergency services app I have and saw that a nearby transformer had blown. So I had to get up and put my CPAP on the backup battery. Power was restored about 5AM, so I didn't have to go downstairs to put the fridge on battery backup; the freezer and alarm system stay on backup all the time. Later, standing up to brush my teeth started the intense leg numbness and pain, causing me to hobble around. It's settled down a bit now. I'm going to attempt to go to the big box store, and will take a cane for some support, although the shopping cart will help hold me up. I really dislike not being able to do much.

@Lady Hudson Bon Voyage!

@grapau27 Thanks for the info on Guy Fawkes.

@StLouisCruisers Congrats to Ren and his team for the win. Lovely Kona photos.

@smitty34877 I was thinking about you all day yesterday. I'm sure all the kind remembrances by those who knew Lou was very touching and of some comfort. Hugs.

@GTVCRUISER Thanks for the photos.

@rafinmd Your meal is something I'd enjoy.

@kazu Good job on getting all of the clothes together for donation. That is very kind of your guy to help out with getting rid of some things. I'm in the same situation with trying to get rid of heavier things, although luckily my haircut guy is interested in a lot of my woodworking tools.

@aliaschief It sounds like a wonderful cruise.

@dfish Aww, it sounds like River loves spending time with you and Sue.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos as usual. Are you trading in your old motorhome?

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

I visited Kona in 1992 on a trip to Hawaii. I used to shoot slides back then, but scanned some into the PC. I was at the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park.

This  ‘place of refuge’  was a safe haven for those that broke the Kapu laws, which in old Hawaii were punishable by death. If you reached the Puʻuhonua, you would be pardoned by Kahuna and given a second chance at life.

Good Morning from a sunny and bright day at the beach

No wind at present. Hope it stays away for awhile.

Not a football fan. I do like Chinese food but there are no Chinese restaurants here.

We were in Kona in 2022 on the Noordam. We have been there a few times. We walked to Walmart and then just meandered around the town. Waded in the water next to the tender port. It is a great little town.

Driving my nephew and his GF to the port today. They are taking a 5 day on MSC. They really like that line.

@smitty34877  Was thinking of you yesterday. Glad the Memorial went well.

Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday.

2 things to report on the upcoming cruise.  I checked the Port Everglades schedule today and we will be at Pier 26 with Celebrity Reflection as a blocker.  What is odd is that Reflection is due to arrive at 6 and Rotterdam at 7.  I don't think that is possible, and I hope the 2 ships don't collide on the way to the terminal.

The good news is that the big bag is not just packed but sitting inside the car.

Good morning everyone.  Thank-you for the daily report.  Three great days to enjoy today, football, Chinese take out and red hair!  I like the quote.  The meal suggestion sounds nice but we’re going with yesterday’s chicken pot pie for dinner.  Think I’ll pass on the drink.  I haven’t been to today’s port.  Prayers for those on our prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today.

Good morning,

It is a sunny bright morning. I prefer the fall back time change for sleep. It was good it happened last night as the Chiefs game was at 8:30 AM. They are playing in Germany.

I plan on a lazy day. I am trying one of the pot pie recipes for dinner. I hope everyone has a great day. I’m

Happy Sunday to All and thanks for the daily and fleet reports.  I do love football and used to figure out a way to watch (for free!!) games like the Super Bowl or national playoffs when I live overseas.  Don't watch much now as I "cut the cord".  I admire people who have natural red hair. I do have to pretend sometimes who I project to be even when I am not.  I might save the recipes for the meal, the drink and wine sound good, and I will be in Kona on Dec 2nd so the pics were great to see!  Did't realize the Cubans grew corn!

I can't do Chinese takeout; I have yet to find any Chinese restaurant that is even close to the real thing.   So I make my own.  My first Christmas back in 2017 I cooked a combination of Chinese and American food (Peking Duck, Chinese veggies and turkey!)

image.thumb.jpeg.91b92743754e1bd18b5971e7c07e685b.jpeg

I fell in love with Lanzhou Beef Noodle soup so I decided to try and make it.  Entire day of cooking but it was worth it.

image.thumb.jpeg.f9f0768e8576dbc1d2a4b1b73fa8f53f.jpeg

Went up to Phx to the HAL exhibition for Alaska.  Wasn't going to book anything as I swore my 2nd and 3rd cruise ever was enough of AK as there are so many other places to go and see.  BUT.......... I got a good deal with a non-refundable $25 deposit for next June.  The cost was as much as one of my week cruise last year and this one is 14 days.  Decisions, decisions!!  There were a lot of people there.

Since I decided to sleep in today, it was coolish when I finally got up - 63F.  But it is heading to the low 90s.  I do like it.

Thoughts for the world and those on the care list.  Cheers to those celebrating and getting on ships soon

Have a great day everyone!!

Finally our fog is beginning to lift, so I should be able to get some outside work done in a bit.  I think I'll wait until it warms up a bit more.

Gerry, I posted fairly late last night that we had put a deposit down on a new motorhome.  We are getting a 2024 Bounder with a gas engine.  I took some pictures when we were looking at it yesterday, but I have to switch to my phone to be able to share a couple of pictures.  Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds nice, and I know everyone will enjoy it.

Vanessa, I was hoping you'd have a better night last night.  We are going to trade the motorhome in, not that a 25 year old motorhome is worth as much as we hoped.  After getting the engine batteries changed, DH began to think about what else needed to be done to the 1999 motorhome and how much it would cost.  Besides, it is getting where it is more difficult for us to tackle some of the maintenance and repairs.   Between the price difference between gas and diesel, plus the higher maintenance costs of diesel engines, it  just seemed like the right time to trade it in.  It will be a week to ten days before we finalize the deal.

Good morning all!

Not a fan of football, but DH is.  We have a great Chinese restaurant near us and just had take-out last week.  I just can't have it often because of the sodium content.  But it sure is good.  I was a "strawberry blonde" in the past, now the red is all gone.  Will pass on the meal, drink and wine, we went to Kona on our Hawaii cruise in 2010 -- but it isn't on the GA itinerary.  As I recall we had a beach day that day.

Not sure what's going on, I'm feeling a little under the weather. Nothing bad, but headache and stomach is a bit "off".  I would think it was side effects from my flu shot, but that was a week ago.  So today will be a quiet day of cruise planning and trying to work on Christmas gifts.

Terry @smitty34877 The gathering for your DD DH sounds lovely.  Sending hugs.

Bon Voyage @Lady Hudson!

Vanessa @JazzyV We all wish we could take away the pain you're experiencing.  It's amazing how much you do!

I'm sorry you lost power last night but glad it wasn't off longer.

Good morning. Another sunny day. Temp was 36F when dogs and I walked at what is now 6:30 in the morning. The high today will be in the 60's. When we came back from our walk, the back lawn area of our units looked like a pajama party. Evidently all the neighborhood dogs got their families up early. It was pretty funny with dogs scampering everywhere and sleepy looking people standing around. I was only fully clothed individual there. Evidently everyone else intended to sleep in.

Little else now. I just plod along. Yesterday's meetings really ate into the day and I got little done. Hopefully better working today.

Take care all.

Good morning, all! Well, DH is, or was, a redhead. I always envied the fact that his red hair turned blond instead of grey, and then went white after seventy. We aren’t getting Chinese take out, but I’m making Char Sui later today for company that’s coming tomorrow. Yesterday I made pupusas, the traditional dish of El Salvador. We had some from a little family kitchen in a village there last month and they were delicious. I was happy with how mine turned out, and how easy they were to make. (Thanks to YouTube videos.)

Yesterday I felt awful, courtesy of a cold and the vaccines the day before. This morning, well, ‘It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, and I’m feeling’ good.’
Unlike DH, you don’t have to listen to me sing that. Count your blessings!

Happy Sunday, everyone, and remember to set your clocks back an hour!

Thanks @StLouisCruisers and @GTVCRUISER for your pictures of Kona.  That is one of the stops on our Hawaii cruise next February and Sue and I are so excited.

I'm sorry we'll miss you in Kona. The family (9 of us) will be there for a week in March. Should be interesting??? 😮

Good morning, everyone!

It is currently a chilly 33F but we are supposed to have mostly sunny skies today and a high of 51F.  River is protesting having to go home today.  She says she wants to stay here for a year.  We will have her back for Thanksgiving.

Today's meal is a good one for watching football.  I might try one of these recipes this week.  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/patrick-and-gina-neely/white-chicken-chili-recipe-1922199

I like the looks of this one because of the lime on top.  https://www.cookingclassy.com/white-chicken-chili/

Here is a crock pot (slow cooker) version.  Put it on in the morning and it is ready at dinner time.  https://www.thechunkychef.com/slow-cooker-creamy-white-chicken-chili/

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Thanks for the white chicken chili recipes today  They look great!

Do you like to shop for fabrics for your quilts while you're on cruises?  I seem to recall on the Maasdam several ladies who attended the knitting and stitching get togethers went shopping at the ports in Hawaii and the South Pacific.  Seems like there was one in Kona very close to the tender pier.  I looked up one called Quilt Passions very near the MoKuaiKaua Church shown in the photos, right behind it in fact.  Closed on Sundays though.

What a shame, but you'll have a blast with the family.

I think we're having white chicken chili this week sometime.  I made the cider braised chicken Friday night and it got rave reviews.  My DSIL declared it the best dish I have made.

I don't usually look for fabric unless I have a specific project in mind.  It is a dangerous, slippery slope when you collect fabric from every shop you encounter!   I know people who have entire rooms dedicated to their fabric stash and then some.  Someday, someone will have to clean all that out.

Time for lunch.  I just finished the leaves for today.  They'll need to be done again tomorrow.
