Are they still letting folks punch holes in the S&S cards on Carnival?

I'm totally the stretchy bracelet keychain, punch a hole in my card girl.  It so works for me.  Our most recent cruise, on Princess, they were not allowing folks to punch holes in cards anymore due to new tech in the cards.  Anyone know what is the latest on that front?

Two sister in laws are going on a Carnival cruise and got each of them my beloved card transport device and hate to set them up incorrectly.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

I don’t know if it depends on ports or what but I’ve been on 7 cruises from New Orleans since 2014 and 2 from Galveston since 2017...and all of my cruises the card has been prepunched.

I have not cruised Carnival since 2007, so I have not had any S&S card punched. Does Carnival automatically do this for you, or do I have to ask? Currently, my lanyard has a plastic sleeve for card, but it’s a pain trying to get it out of sleeve. I’d much rather have my card punched and just hook it on the lanyard. I leave on the Breeze in 7 days!

Fairly sure cards come pre-punched from the card factory, these days.

Which is absolute sacrilege to a card-collector like myself
but I guess it's better than them micro-chipping you.................

Other than that, I keep mine in my wallet.

Mine have just been like that. I’ve never seen anyone punch a card. The hole is just there.

Yep, they didn't have a hole already in them on our earlier cruises, but they did on our last 2 cruises. Before you had to have someone punch a hole in them at the casino so you could put it on one of the lanyards they gave out. A lot more convenient the new way.

I put mine on a lanyard but keep it in my cross body purse I carry around everywhere that has chapstick, phone, small bottle of sunscreen, etc in it. The lanyard makes it easy to pull out quickly and when we're in the room I hang it up on a hook. I wore the lanyard all the time on my first cruise and had weird tan lines. I only wear my purse when walking and the rest of the time it's under my lounger so no more weird tan lines.

For what it’s worth, 66% of passengers wear lanyards according to a current poll on John Heald’s page.

66% of people who actively follow John Heald's page*

Not really a representative sample

I have several of those name badge pouches left from conferences I have attended. They have a pocket for your S &S  card, and a zipper pocket for some extra cash and  and most even will hold your cell phone so you can easily check the HUB whenever you need to, Dh and I use those. In the exening I usually use a small wristlet to hold the aforementioned things as well as a lipstick
