Vacaforever Posted December 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2017 i read it as a suggestion from a seasoned traveler for when you stop at ports. I'm going on a carribean cruise. What are your thoughts? Is it practical? There are small folding ones but u still need to find 2 trees
paul929207 Posted December 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2017 I would think that the person or organization controlling the beach would not like you taking up space.

What are your thoughts? Is it practical? There are small folding ones but u still need to find 2 trees I have found that the areas around the few trees on Caribbean beaches are in high demand for the shade offered. In the back country you probably could rig a hammock, but why?
sanger727 Posted December 16, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2017 Nay. Too much work to lug around with too little chance you’d be able to use it Sent from my iPhone using Forums
ger_77 Posted December 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2017 In my opinion, it would take up too much valuable luggage space and weight. Do you really think you're going to need a hammock? Often there are beach umbrellas and lounge chairs that can be rented for reasonable rates at beaches in the Caribbean, so you don't have to drag yours around with you. Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

leaveitallbehind Posted December 16, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2017 Well not for on the beach but for on the balcony on the ship, there is one particular poster on CC (who will remain nameless) who brings one frequently on board with them and manages to hang it for their enjoyment on their balcony. Pictures exist. ;)
YoHoHo Posted December 16, 2017 #15 Share Posted December 16, 2017 I am amazed at the number of "why?" posts. Clearly not many hammock aficionados here. I agree too much hassle to pack (space is an issue though mine weighs little ) and finding a place to tie up on shore would be hard. but... sigh
Vacaforever Posted December 16, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted December 16, 2017 Space isn't really a thing because they are so small now it's like packing a sweater, was just wondering if anyone's done it before because it does seem like a hassle. Thanks for all your comments so far

Bonnie J. Posted December 16, 2017 #22 Share Posted December 16, 2017 A lot of Carnival ships have hammocks on their Serenity decks. Enjoy them on days at sea!

Nebr.cruiser Posted December 16, 2017 #25 Share Posted December 16, 2017 I wouldn't bring one but after having one of those teensy balconies recently, I might like it for the balcony. This balcony (NCL Getaway) was so small there was no way to comfortably lounge and read. Or really even sit. We used the balcony only for light and entering/leaving ports. I have no idea how you would attach it though.
