Lastdance Posted February 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2018 My favorite place to cruise is Europe. I haven’t been to Istanbul yet, but hope to when things settle down a bit. All of my cruises here have been full of history and absolutely gorgeous scenery. It seems that I just can’t get enough, so I am doing some twice on different ships. I have been to many places all over the world and feel very blessed to be able to travel... Sent from my iPhone using Forums
SMSACE6 Posted February 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2018 My favorite place to cruise is the Caribbean, and is the only place that I have cruised. Wish I would have discovered cruising sooner in my life, but am glad that I finally did do so in my early 40's. I would really love to cruise to Bermuda some day, since I have done two land (island)s vacation there many years ago, so Bermuda cruise is on my Bucket list. Also, have visited Hawaii three times, by air, and would love to cruise there some day. Mediterranean cruise would be nice too, but at my point and situation in life only so much that I can consider, and do have some limitations. Still, I love the Caribbean, and have been to many islands there, both on cruises, and long before I started cruising, on other vacations. Got to still love my Caribbean. Never tire of it.:)
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted February 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Probably Europe. Going back again in May. Although my Canada/New England cruise last fall would be a close second.

RetiredCruiser2015 Posted February 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2018 I think of a cruise as a floating hotel (with great amenities) to see places in the world that I might want to visit for more than one day on a non cruise vacation. Silkroad Posted February 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) Europe, though our Transatlantic and New England & Canada cruises were also wonderful. Part of the joy for us is simply being on a ship at sea. We’re both interested in the history of human migration and exploration on land and sea. We may be the only people who are excited about traversing a new body of water via ship lol. We can’t wait for the time when we can bookend a b2b with land travels as our retired friends do. We began cruising a bit later than many on these boards, and headed straight to the Mediterranean. We’re excited to finally sail to both the Baltic and the Caribbean this year. Our wish list is endless, for both sea and land, especially since we’d like to return to certain areas for further exploration (Greece, Spain and Sicily for example). One of the unexpected pleasures of cruising has been the lovely people we’ve met, such as the OP:), some of whom have become close friends.:cool: Edited February 3, 2018 by Silkroad

OCruisers Posted February 3, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Since we've been lucky enough to go to many parts of the world, now we most love going to the Caribbean because it's close and easy for us.
Ky Lady Posted February 3, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2018 I love Europe and we’ve been lucky and did get to see Istanbul in 2013. It ended up being one of our favorite cities. We leave in 2 days for our first cruise to South America. Bucket list is Iceland, New Zealand and Bora Bora. crzndeb Posted February 3, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Bora Bora is my fave. Cruised a TP twice and it was my favorite of the South Pacific Islands. The water, the people, so amazing. This year, I am cruising to the Baltics, and a TA that’s includes Iceland and Greenland. In 2020, I will be sailing from Buenos Aires, around the Horn to San Diego. This will pretty much complete all the places I have wanted to visit. I also really enjoyed the Med. The history and architecture is beyond amazing. MCazer Posted February 3, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Absolutely love Europe. Have been to the Caribbean so many times that they all seem to meld into one another. Don't get me wrong, love the blue water, and scuba diving, but after a Baltic cruise in 2014, the call was huge to return, in 2016, but this time from Barcelona, (LOVE SPAIN, LOVE LOVE LOVE SPAIN), and now, having thrown that coin in the Trevi fountain, we sail this time from Rome this coming October! And we will scuba dive in Corsica!
Rare mom says Posted February 3, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 3, 2018 So far, it's the Caribbean. But who knows, maybe our next trip to the Polynesian islands will become our new favorite. Whichever, cruising amongst islands is what we like best. For the continents we much prefer land travel. DH described it thusly: travel is like wine drinking. Port visits on a cruise is like being limited to only a sip or two. A land bus tour may allow you a small glass. But independent land travel gives you a chance to savour the whole bottle. Rare chemmo Posted February 3, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 3, 2018 What a great post! For the history and food Europe wins but being ‘local’ we have been lucky enough to enjoy land holidays where you do get the opportunity to really soak up the culture which is simply impossible on a cruise....Also you can leave a Med cruise exhausted...it just seems criminal to stop at a town or city full of history and not try to fit all sights in! For rest and relaxation the Caribbean remains a favourite... For natural beauty Norway and Alaska... For variety, the TP remains my favourite cruise of all times....A week in Hawaii first, time in Sydney after and in between Bora, Bora, The Bay of Islands and the magic of ‘Hobiton’ what more could you want? Also with a cruise of this length you have the opportunity to get to know fellow guests better and you have the luxury of many sea days...
portofrome Posted February 3, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Europe! Lot of monuments, history and beautiful spots! Then good food and wine, beaches and sun.
PROCRUISE Posted February 3, 2018 #18 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Hard Decision: On Celebrity (since this is the Celebrity site) probably S.E. Asia on the Millennium out of Singapore. On a completely different scale: The Society Islands out of Tahiti, on Windstar Spirit. :)
Rare Cruise Junky Posted February 3, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Europe. It’s a great way to discover new places to explore by land. Caribbean holds no desire to us, if I want sun, it’s quicker to get to Hawaii. Although I will add that spending some time in Greece on a land trip leaves cruises in the dust. No comparison to spending evenings on land vs a ship but cruises are still good for discovering new places.
bigbenboys Posted February 3, 2018 #20 Share Posted February 3, 2018 My most favorite area of the world to cruise is Eastern Mediterranean. We love Greece and Turkey. Then next would be Asia.

When we cruise the Caribbean it is for the ship. Some stops we dont even get off the ship. Maybe it is a west coast thing.

Rare Keith1010 Posted February 3, 2018 #24 Share Posted February 3, 2018 I know this might seem silly but I often think that our most favorite area of the world to sail is where we are sailing at the current time. There are so many beautiful areas of the world and what is special is the diversity of the areas in terms of their look and their feel.
