The prime rib is either steamed or cooked from a frozen state. It turns into a strange meat-like product. If you want to risk it, prepare your waiter with the fact that you might be ordering an additional main course.

I think it's cooked sous vide ie vacuum packed then cooked at a very low temperature for a long time in a water bath. That usually results in very tender meat but it has a strange texture. Personally I don't like it.

If this was true - it would be the same color through out. It is not.

Anyone who has had good prime rib would recognize this is the worst version of it.

Someone really needs to ask when they do a kitchen tour.

I don't think I can do just one:

Black and Blue Soup at CG

Love all the pizzas, but the white pizza from the lido deck is my favorite.

Chicken Salad from IC

Scones with Jam/Cream at Afternoon Tea

All the souffles

Breakfast sandwich from IC

The donuts in the morning from IC

Ok, I'm making myself super hungry now.  6 more months and then I have 14 days to enjoy all these treats.  :classic_biggrin:

Yea - I would describe it as boiled taste. It probably isn't but it is the weirdest piece of meat I have ever seen.

You probably have a more accurate description of how it is cooked.  It isn't horrid but it isn't decent either. I suspect Golden Corral does a better job. I don't know that for a fact though. Pictures on tv look better!

I have had the prime rib at Golden Corral.  Sadly... not much better.

Maybe it's me but I thought it used to be much better.

I love prime rib but not the kind I've had on my last two cruises.

Wholeheartedly agree with your assessment.

Good idea about asking on the kitchen tour.

I've only had it once but from memory it was the same colour throughout apart from around the edges where they had browned off the surface prior to serving - which is quite commonly done with sous vide cooked food.

Please the question was, what is your FAVORITE food on Princess?  Let’s get back to the subject.

What exactly is this and why did you like it?

It is the Norman Love chocolate pistachio dome.  It’s a chocolate mousse on the outside with pistachio mousse on the Inside.  I like it because it’s some chocolate goodness with a nice hint of pistachio and it’s so creamy.
