RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)

We have stayed in both the ocean view and aft view SLS and I love them both, equally.  Even if you get the aft view version you can still stare at the ocean all day and night as the view is a full 90 degrees.  We are not overly obsessed with privacy so the fact that folks below could have looked up and seen us staring down at them didn't particularly concern us.  I know some don't care for that aspect. We did not find the aft-facing suite any noisier than the ocean view one.

I certainly prefer the balcony space on the aft-facing SLS although the balcony is plenty big on the ocean-facing, too.

If the upgrade cost was tolerable I wouldn't let the fact that you might get the aft-facing SLS be of concern...but that's just me.

We removed bids on Allure because of that reason. I like ocean, not sports court view!

We never book a rear cls.  But the suite is wonderful and the doors make the interior soundproof.  I cannot understand why people book anything on the boardwalk. The merry go round would make me crazy

i bid 820 on a star loft. the added perks would make sense financially and id love the genie to deliver meals in the room a few times.

the royal for 3K just isnt worth it. for 2 people really seems excessive.

Was your bid $20 total, or was it per person?

Another Royalup happy customer!!  Got our upgrade confirmation last night for our 9/19 Oasis cruise.

Went from a Ocean View/large balcony to the Crown loft suite.  Could'nt be more happier than to be up on deck 17.  It was a Casino cruise that we paid to upgrade so we really did well with this one.

This is our second Royalup success story as we also upgraded to a sky loft suite on Anthem a couple years ago for a 12 day cruise.  Cant wait to give it a try.

Well played, congrats!

Just out of curiosity, approx how long before sailing did your RoyalUp bid change from "Modify/Cancel" to "Pending"?

Had Bid for Junior, grand1 bedroom, grand 2 bedroom, owners, and crown loft. 4 days ago all showed expired while crown showed pending. Email came about 7:30 last night confirming the bid acceptance.

Question:

I was able to upgrade our suite for the same as my max bid on Royal Up due to price drop.

Went from GS to OS. For kicks I have some bids still remaining for STAR class suites.

As I just paid more for the new suite, should I expect to see a decrease in the minimum allowed bid on Royal Up?
I don't know if the bid-range is based on what we paid for the original booking and will be adjusted for our new fare.

Thank you!

Hmmm, it’s a good question. I imagine that the minimum bid is the same regardless of what they paid. To be fair everyone should be bidding on the same product at the same price point.

I know minimum bids tend to fluctuate for the same cabin but it fluctuates for everyone I would assume

Congratulations! That’s wonderful. I’m on the same cruise but haven’t heard yet about my bid. It still shows as pending so I hope that means there is still a chance, however slim. Frankly I’m just happy to be cruising and I am already in a nice room, so its all good

Thanks very much.  If it says pending without the option to cancel or modify that could be a good sign.  GOOD LUCK!!

It would be interesting to find out - do let us know if your minimum allowed RoyalUp bid changes...

Thank you . It says pending at the top of the box showing my bid, but in the lower right hand corner it does have the modify/cancel tabs so I don’t think there has been a determination as yet. Well, Ill know in a few days one way or the other. It’s like buying a lottery ticket and then waiting for the drawing. You don’t expect to win but it sure would be a nice surprise!

We are hoping to get invited to submit a Royal Up... We're on the Oct 8 Ovation Alaska cruise and haven't had invite via email or on the royal up page yet.

Currently in a balcony room and hoping to bid on some suites. Has anyone been invited in close to their cruise date or are we out of luck?

Check with others in your Roll Call to see if anyone has been able to bid. If they can, then you are likely out of luck. If you booked with a TA which doesn’t participate in Royal Up, you can’t bid.

Nope, the minimums are not the same. Right before Covid we had gramma and the young adult kids in a 2 BR GS and we had a GS. When Royal UP came out ,the minimum bid for the 2 BR was much lower as it was more expensive.

the entire little dial thing was different for the 2 suites.

it's a non issue pretty much because the only suite I would want in place of ours now is a STAR class and I don't think my puny bids will cut it this time!

Good input. It makes sense as they can also upsell folks into the cabins that are vacated due to royalup.

Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked and answered already--I searched the thread and couldn't find it!

I put in two offers and now both are showing pending, and I can only modify one offer and not the other. I know pending is usually a sign that we might have gotten the upgrade, so will one or the other show expired in the coming days?

(If it helps, the lower stateroom category is the one that's showing pending and can't be modified.)

You may have caught this in between them updating your bids.  I would think that either one will show you have gotten the upgrade, or the other will free up to be modified.  Not any help, right?

I suggest checking back again later.  Or checking your credit card to see if it was dinged for one of the upgrade prices.
