Dog living on Anthem and peeing everywhere ...

I will tell you here what I write every time this comes up.

Because of these things and this behavior, this person has been BANNED from the Grandeur.

Royal Caribbean will not let them back on the Grandeur, but lets them on the Anthem.

Let that sink in.

But if they banned him from one ship, why do they allow him on another ship, if the behaviors that caused problems on one ship, continue on another ship? That is not very logical?

Service dogs are TRAINED.  They don't ride in wagons, they don't wear "cute outfits". they don't eat table food...they don't pee or poop everywhere...they are TRAINED.  They have a job to do, and dogs LOVE to do a job.

People are too afraid to confront someone nowadays.  If they say it's for "emotional support", they are afraid of being sued or of discrimination...and they shouldn't be.  Our world has gotten out of hand.  Where is COMMON SENSE anymore?

What jurisdiction does the NJ Health Dept have over a foreign flagged cruise ship?

Lol I was thinking the same thing!

A cruise ship is the only place I've found which I don't get any allergies.

Hayfever, dog and cat hair. Just wish I had found cruising sooner in life.

However, if this continues, might have to rethink. Especially with Royal.

Might have to bring a couple of bottles of bleach instead of wine.

I'm booked on Anthem Ta Nov 2020.

Most likely the captain of the Grandeur put their foot down and said they'd had enough.... since Royal doesn't have the cojones to tell this guy no, he moved on to another ship.

Does anyone know his cabin number so people can avoid booking it after he has disembarked?

The fact his dog peed on someone and he walked away shows what a type of individual he is.

Knowing my luck Graham, I'll get it

If it is the same man and little dog, he was on the Anthem in January 2018 with us.  His table was across from ours and he put the dog up on his lap!!!!  He also had both kinds of accidents and didn't stop to clean any thing up.  We reported it to an Officer and he just called for a #2 clean up. I though I had some pictures but can't find them. Basically told us the same thing. He was needed for blood pressure.

OMG accidents in the dining room?  That is disgusting not to mention unsanitary.  Captain of Anthem needs to grow a pair, put his foot down and put an end to this.

I think bleach is one of the prohibited items that will land you in the naughty room. But please feel free to bring the emotional support animal of your choice.

I bet I can find some wine that would do better than bleach

As excerpted from U.S. Code of Federal Regulations § 36.202, there are two instances cited in federal law where a business may exclude a Service Dog:

  1. The Service Dog is out of control and the handler isn’t doing anything about it
  2. The Service Dog isn’t housebroken and urinates or defecates inappropriately

Someone needs to show this to Royal.

And that doesn't cover a foreign flagged ship. Good luck enforcing that. I hate any person who MISUSES the service/emotional support rules. It makes those with legitimate needs feel defensive when it's the last thing they need, puts the poor animal in a horrible spot (they have no clue what their owner is doing is wrong) and sets a bad precedence for how businesses start treating people that actually need these animals. But trying to site US laws will get you nowhere fast in the ship world.

Emotional support animals (ESA)  are not allowed on cruise ships and other public places! Only true service dogs are allowed. ESAs are only allowed on airplanes and in housing. A true service dog will not be carried around in a wagon because they are working. If you see this, then complain to corporate. I am allergic to dogs, so the kind of thing your talking about is a big problem for me. I'm fine with service dogs though.

So, you're not alergic to service dogs. 🤔

This pair was on our Anthem B2B in Feb.  it was ridiculous the way he pulled the dog around in a cart.  I was surprised as I thought Royal had ruled against emotional support animals.  I saw no “incidents” during our 2 weeks.

No incidents because his "baby" was in the wagon.  I wonder if he transports them in the wagon to reduce the potential for accidents???

Totally unacceptable situation.  Yes please follow up with Royal and if no acceptable resolution bring it to social media.

Perhaps he meant that he was willing to put up with allergy symptoms if it meant a person who truly needed their service animal could cruise - but not will to get sick for some yahoo who is too cheap to pay to board fido.

I dare anyone to allow their dog - intentionally or by accident - to urinate on my child.  DARE.  That is simply unfathomably ridiculous!

I thought if you were banned you were banned.

His shocking behaviour deserves a ban and the excuse the dog is to detect HBP is rediculous.

There ARE dogs that can detect a plummeting blood pressure ( due to a variety of conditions) that leads the patient owner to faint. The owner knows to sit on the floor or lie down and the dog, many times a lab, guide them to the floor. The dogs used in this way also must be big enough to shield/protect their owner from being stepped on if they do lose consciousness. Little Twinkle Peesalot does not fit the bill. The dog also has to be at attention all the time, not riding around in a pram.

HOWEVER- this detecting an elevated BP is a load of poo. Even if the owner had critically elevated BP the only treatment is medication; usually IV. Medications administered during hypertensive crisis are given in a critical care setting- ER prior to admission to ICU.  There is no action that this owner jerk can make in the moment that will prevent a rise in BP or hypertensive crisis. Additionally; as the risk for heart attack and stroke is such a real threat in someone with unregulated hypertension he should not be allowed to cruise much as woman past 24 weeks pregnant  are not allowed to cruise.

What a disgusting lie. This really p---me off.

Posted (edited)

To OP and anyone who has experience with this sociopath- TWITTER @RoyalCaribbean . That is their Twitter handle . Post comments, pictures- I have used Twitter twice when I had an issue with a company ignoring me. Amazing how fast the problem was solved. One was with British Airways and on with Enterprise Car Rental.

I posted pictures and BAM! Issues resolved.

Shouldn't be allowed in a venue that serves food....if the man thinks he can't get through a meal...eat in his cabin. This man needs to be on medication....but more than likely is using the fact that there's no way to check as an excuse to get away with this.

I just hope he has traditional dining, so we won’t have to sit with them or even near them during our MTD.

Maybe if enough of us complain...

I've been reading past comments about this but I didnt believe them until I saw it myself
Just off the Anthem today ... there is a man who i've been told by crew members has been on the ship for around 3 months with a little emotional support dog

The first time I saw the dog it seemed to be in a wagon of shorts being strolled around

the last time i saw it it was on a leash going into an elevator as my family was walking out

as they walked in the dog peed everwhere right outside of the elevator including my daughter's leg and shoe

the gentleman didnt care and ignored it and went on his way

Royal staff didnt care and told me this has never happened before.

They refused any attention to my child

yet the clean the pee up in Hazmat suits. HAZMAT SUITS! They don't clean bathroom with piss all over the place like this

I Have photots

I requested copies of Vet papers showing dog was healthy and up to date with shots

I was denied

I spent the last night of our cruise unpacking - and re bathing a 4 year old

we didnt have a tub so we have to bring a blow up pool to put in the shower - this isnt an easy task but it can be done

eexcept that it was all dried out and packed away - and now with everyone upset quite the challenge

My first thought was accidents happen

My final thought is pure anger and disgust that not only do they allow it ... I was lied to ... the treated the floor better then they treated my child ... Guest services told me to go to medical and file a report .. medical refused to see us and file a report. I was lied to when they said the dog has not had any accidents anywhere and this was a first ... the lying steams me up more than anything. Even after I called them on it they continued to lie.

This was just icing on the cake of several other minor problems on the Anthem this week. We were on her in Oct and fell in love. Now I wish we never went back and may never sail with RCCL again. Getting Peed on by a dog should not be a concern of ours while on a cruise ship.

waiting on corporate to respond which they wont

but the CDC may feel different

I can guarantee you there's dog piss all over this ship they don't know about

Can you post the pictures you have?

Why would dog pee hurt your child?
