Here is the latest update of the Dry Dock, Charter and Groups file.  

Please consider this a 'work in progress' which will evolve from month to month. There is some uncertainty as to Zaandam/Amsterdam getting Billboard on Board and whether it will be a full dry dock (with additional maintenance being done) or a wet dock, also, Westerdam is not showing a sailing between 4th January 2020 and 16th January 2020, so she may also be dry docking or maybe a charter.

The file consists of information gathered from the internet or information kindly posted on these threads by other cruisers and should not be considered a complete indicator of group activity.

Thank you very much for the latest updates . With 4 cruises in my near future this can be important . I noticed that  where or what the Westerdam is doing from Jan 4 until Jan 16 2020 is still a mystery . I guess I will find out what's up when I get on board on the 16th !

I don't know why they continue to list the Authentic Cuba cruise groups on the Veendam  since no one is cruising to Cuba anymore.

Thanks for the report.  The Noordam has been the “workhorse” for the fleet.  It’s good to know that her drydock time has finally come at the close of the Alaska season this year!

You mentioned that the Amsterdam and Zaandam may not get Billboard Onboard.   I notice on the "HAL Ships at a Glance" chart they are showing that the Rotterdam will be getting Billboard Onboard on or before Dec 6, 2019.   That is a pretty intensive level of construction.  They have to rip out the entire "Mix" bar and piano area and install Billboard.   That level of work would take at least a week.   But checking the HAL website and another cruise calendar site, I see continuous scheduled cruises from now, August 2019 through November 2020.   I don't see how this kind of work could be scheduled.

I’m looking at a cruise on the Zaandam Dec 2020. Any ideas what some of the upgrades will be? We did a week on the Maasdam in 2015 but have been spoiled being on newer ships since then. The piano bar and main stage are nice but we’re worried about two weeks of few entertainment options. However, maybe we should just relax and enjoy being on vacation.

Can you possibly tell me what will be done to the Noordam?  Do they update the cabins?  I have read many reviews which are actually rather negative about the ship and the cabins.  Rust in the bathrooms, on balconies, etc.  Anything you could tell us would be greatly appreciated.  We were on the Noordam about 8 years ago and we loved her.

Sorry I have no idea if there are any special updates for the Noordam . There will be a lot of painting going on , lots of new carpet installed and possibly some of the venues changed around to accommodate entertainment that is in vogue . A lot can be achieved in a couple of weeks with most of the crew still on board ship plus al of the contractors .

I never put much value in big negative stories , some people are always negative and should stay at home . We have had some 30 cruises and sure there are small issues here or there but some people like to exaggerate to get at a company they do not like .

 

Where there is sea water there will be rust , it does not matter how often they paint .

Have a great cruise on the Noordam !

THAT is the truth!
I had a balcony cabin once (a thrill, btw) that had a great deal of rust. Workers came around and scraped and painted and made it all look so spiffy. Within a few days---less than a week---the rust was making inroads again.

I know its a ways out...but any information on why the 11 night January 27th, 2021 Nieuw Statendam cruise disappeared? I am assuming it is a charter but just curious as this was going to be a milestone birthday cruise. Thank you!

Eurodam doesn't seem to be scheduled between November 29 - December 9, 2020.  Do you think it might be in drydock?

Any news on the Rotterdam dry-dock in December 2019 ?   On the current "HAL Ships at a Glance" chart, the Rotterdam is scheduled to have the "Mix" area renovated to include Billboard Onboard, eliminating the traditional Piano Bar in that area.  The HAL chart says that Billboard Onboard will be on the Rotterdam effective Dec 6, 2019.   But checking the Rotterdam cruise schedule from now to December, 2019, I don't see any gaps in the sailing schedule that would allow a large scale renovation like ripping out the entire "Mix" area, with both bars and adding the dueling pianos.

One quick note:  The January Olivia Charter is now Caribbean.  I was wondering if they might have unchartered it when Cuba was dropped but it still is a charter.
