tinkertwo Posted September 6, 2019 #26 Share Posted September 6, 2019 You can ban smoking in the casinos but it is still going to permeate from every pour of the place until they replace everything. It is in the carpets, in the very chairs you sit on. Heck, its in the slots. Your still going to get the same smell, for sure not as heavy, but still there. Jam0610 Posted September 6, 2019 #27 Share Posted September 6, 2019 We can only hope. Walking by casino on Liberty, could hardly stand the smell. Would be happy to stay in casino if it were non-smoking.

All I'm saying is the smell will still be there. Didn't say anything about there NOT being a difference. For anyone else reading my comment, all I'm saying is the smell will still be there till it is renovated. I'm not saying it shouldn't be banned or its bad it's being banned or any of the other things you think I might be saying. Just that it will still smell. Am I wrong????

coffeebean Posted September 7, 2019 Author #34 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Seems like there is a bit of progress. Nice to know Ovation OTS is smoke free.
MamaFej Posted September 7, 2019 #35 Share Posted September 7, 2019 From what I understand, the new Virgin cruise line will be non-smoking (and adults only, but that's another thread). I hope this will put some pressure on mainstream lines to reduce smoking areas, and maybe even try having ships that are entirely smoke-free. I doubt it will happen soon, but I can hope.
defiant Posted September 7, 2019 #36 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Just got off the Adventure this morning after a 6 day N.E. cruise. Most everyone was smoking like chimneys in the casino.
fla gang Posted September 7, 2019 #37 Share Posted September 7, 2019 I was on the Ovation in June and I also thought the casino was non smoking but there were several people playing slots near the bar that were smoking in that area every day. Every NCL new build has less and less places to smoke which is why I have started sailing Royal...If Royal does away with casino smoking....I will move on from them too. I have a non smoking casino 20 minutes from my house.....yet I take a 2 1/2 hour ride to Atlantic City instead....wanna guess the reason why?

This is the same reason sales tax and gratuities are fully incorporated into the price as “duty free” does not apply if you do not leave the EU. sellwingri Posted September 7, 2019 #44 Share Posted September 7, 2019 As someone who sends a lot of time in the casino, I will say that the time on my b2b Australian/New Zealand cruises was wonderful! However I will say that the ventilation on the mega ships must be strong because I didn’t notice the smoke as much on Allure last month.

I was on Ovation for an Alaska cruise on Aug. 2 - Aug. 9, 2019 and spent a lot of time in the casino and smoking was pretty heavy. They do have a non-smoking section but the smoke definitely leaks over to the non-smoking section. I actually try to sail Celebrity more often because they have a non-smoking casino.
Tom47 Posted September 7, 2019 #47 Share Posted September 7, 2019 I looked up RCI current smoking policy, announced in September, 2013. It took effect on January 1,2014. Stay tuned.

We heard smokers say that banning smoking in restaurants & bars would kill business.... but it didn’t. Most smokers will adjust and non smokers will spend more time in casino. Smoke free casinos are coming. Just like smoke free cabins/balconies and all indoor venues have switched to non smoking!

Yes, the smoking policy was posted in the Compass every day and there was absolutely no indoor smoking permitted (this was Ovation to Alaska, Aug.30 - Sept.6). I will be sure to mention in my survey that I loved this change and hope it stays this way. We'll see. 😊 Edited September 7, 2019 by Langley Cruisers
