I will pass on everyone's condolences.

At this stage, I doubt cruising again or returning here to post are in his near future but you never know.

Thanks Mic, hope Les does come back here but in his own time. I have been wondering how Les and in particular Mary were going. Thanks for letting us know. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Well, I guess I didn't specify produced in Australia television recommendations but OK, fair enough. Thank you Chili!

Just wondering what Kramer sounds like dubbed with an Aussie accent. If it is all dubbed with Aussie accents, I'm so in for that experience. The show is new again.

Upper Middle Bogan

A searing, socio political analysis of contemporary Australian society (or a comedy).

Host Bonjour, the real question, what genres are you interested in?

you could see if you can connect/download iview which gives free access to a range of tv shows on the national broadcaster.

Thx for the recco, that sounds good!

I like thrillers, crime, espionage, military, psychological, period drama, legal...almost anything with great characters. Just not much for sci-fi (but I am a trekkie)

I've watched The Code, and some legal dramas (one set in Bondi) there's some crime shows set in Melbourne.

I've watched lots of Aussie films and love. It's harder to know which TV to watch. It wasn't always accessible but of course thankfully it is now. When I visited down that way I was NOT concerned about television except trying to figure out rugby. I sort of get it a little now. No one would explain a thing to me mid-match of course! (THAT was like speaking in church "shhhhhhhh!!!!" 🤣

I was, despite two weeks in Sydney, somehow amiss by not getting to Art Museum of NSW but then there's sooooo much to do there. The collection is spectacular and I wish I'd had MORE time to amble through the place. You're lucky to have it 🙂

I had an order of Medical supplies arrive this evening and was astonished that they were NOT made in China they were from Denmark ... made me feel better and they were half the price of the brands that we have been buying from Chemist Where house

these things are not cheap the last lot cost me over $100 for a weeks supply so very glad to find an alternative source from a reputable source

Regards

John

Did anyone do anything different this weekend, with reduced restrictions throughout Aus and NZ?  Did anyone have a coffee out of a real cup or a sit down meal?

There were more people out and about at the Coast, with much longer queues at the prawn trawlers.

Here in NZ Level 2 is now underway and most places are open again . Very inconsistent in regard to shopping ..All have some form of entry barriers to them but some are really going over the top . Some require full contact details before you enter , for tracing if need be , but the best I have heard is one that gives everyone a concierge who escorts you round the store . Not good for browsing . Also heard that after trying on a Tee shirt in one store  , the garment had to be quarantined for 72 hours . People are not keen on rules ,so the shops , as yet , are not busy .

I feel the same will happen with cruising , After an initial rush to cruise again people will shy away when they experience all the rules that wil be on board .

Yesterday, I did some fencing, replacing some palings on the rear fence.

Today, I am going to have a kick around with 9 other players from my team. The other half of the squad are doing the same at another field and the other three teams in the club are also spreading out to various places, so we do not have more than ten at each place.

We ventured a little further for a daily walk, instead of just in our immediate area. We walked along the river which is the border of our suburb to its mouth and on to the beach. We sat in the park near the mouth of the river for a while enjoying the sun and then came across a neighbour and her children. We spent a few minutes speaking to her while the children skimmed stones into the water. We were surprised at how many people were out and about - walking and cycling. In fact there were so many pedestrians that cyclists were a menace as they tried to pass.

Later in the afternoon, we had a vist from our son, daugher in law and two little granddaughters which was wonderful. The two year old was so excited she could come inside! The seven year old just wanted to hug us but we did air hugs instead!

This afternoon we will see our daughter and two grandsons, the first time in person for nine weeks.

I hope everyone is enjoying this little bit of freedom but keeping safe.

Sounds like an enjoyable river walk to the mouth and the beach.  Nice to hear that you were able to catch up with your children and grand children in person, after such a long time.  The lockdown has been hard for grandparents.

We have always had walkers, but I have noticed a lot more families on bicycles.

We made the mistake of going to Ikea yesterday. It was crazy. The lifts had signs on them saying only one person or family group per lift, which everyone was ignoring. Luckily we didn't get there until late in the afternoon so we avoided the queues to get into the store, however it was jam packed. There was no chance of doing any social distancing at all. I knew exactly what I wanted (a plant stand and some plant pots) so we were able to avoid most of the crowds initially by taking the shortcuts through the store. We found what we wanted fairly quickly but the queues for the checkouts were very long. They only had self checkouts open. That meant that everyone was handling the hand scanners. There was no sanitiser provided but, thank goodness, I had some with me so I could sanitise my hands after using the scanner and before getting my wallet out of my bag. They really need to supply disposable gloves, and insist people wear them when handling the scanner.

My new plant stand looks very nice though. I wanted something I could put near a window so I could grow herbs indoors over winter.

I am so sorry. I haven't met Les and didn't meet Mary, but I feel as if I know them from his posts here on CC.

Today I am depressed. Tonight we should have been flying off to Italy via Taipei, for four nights in Rome prior to tranferring to Civitavecchia to board Crystal Symphony for a bucket list 26 night Western Europe cruise. After the cruise finished in Dover we were going to spend four nights in Royal Tunbridge Wells exploring that part of England before flying home.

This would probably have been our last trip to Europe. Unfortunately I doubt we'll be able to plan this sort of trip again once the world settles back down to the revised normality.

I too join in your disappointment.  Today we would have been in Anchorage as part of a 77 day Circle Pacific cruise. I doubt I will be undertaking a similar cruise again.😞

Oh Royal Tunbridge Wells.  Now I'm sad also realising I'll not visit that fascinating town again.  No wonder you feel depressed, as that was a great trip you'd organised.

In Queensland, ten people are now allowed to eat in in cafes, with 1.5m between tables.  So I enjoyed my first eat in breakfast outside at our favourite waterfront cafe this morning.  The food and coffee, in a real cup, never tasted so good.

Has anyone else eaten in a cafe under the new guidelines?

We've had coffee at cafes this week. Unfortunately our regular cafe is still using takeaway cups but at least we can sit there and enjoy our coffees. The other cafe we went to was using regular cups.
