Re masks, I went into IGA at Batehaven this morning, even the deli staff did not have masks on. We are still wearing masks, gloves and using hand sanitiser for packing commercially prepared frozen meals and delivery of meals at my Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels Cooperative. Safety first for a few more weeks yet. Edited September 9, 2020 by NSWP

Blackduck59 Posted September 9, 2020 #2205 Share Posted September 9, 2020 As an outsider looking in it is so disappointing to here this state versus state mentality. The whole we're doing great but those people suck thing isn't helpful to anyone. We were doing great (relatively speaking) in BC but now? Not so much, we are averaging 100 new cases a day. We aren't locked down like they are in Victoria Australia for which I am grateful. When we go out we are more concerned about the actions of others. We wear masks even though we hate them, others (mostly younger) don't and more worrying than that they barge into people's space, disregard the one way aisles. Reach over around and through you. Our Provincial Health Officer has tightened up the rules for night clubs, bars and restaurants. Mandated 10:00 pm last call and 11:00 pm closings. No live music is allowed in bars and no dance floors are open.

My husband's company asked him to get a covid test even though he's working from home (his allergies kicked into overdrive with the season change and they were concerned with all the coughing and sneezing during conference calls). I think the concern is nice, anyone with allergies is feeling the glare at the moment.
Kiwi Kruzer Posted September 9, 2020 #2208 Share Posted September 9, 2020 The latest cluster in Auckland originates from an Evangelical Church who don’t believe in the science of Covoid. During level 3 the Police had to ask them to break up a funeral as the numbers exceeded the allowable limit. The cluster now has a large number in isolation and have caused at least one school to close down .

Rare aussielozzie18 Posted September 9, 2020 #2210 Share Posted September 9, 2020 Re the UK, my elderly aunt in her 80s has not been permitted to leave her house for months. Those over a certain age in the uk and with underlying health conditions have been under tighter lockdown restrictions than Melbourne for months. On the flipside, my daughter's friends (aged 20-30)who are in the UK are permitted to travel around countries in Europe where the borders are open. This is the first hayfever season that i have taken medication on a regular basis i am known at work for my epic sneezing during Sept. Not going to risk death glares right now. The hayfever medication works a treat but does make you drowsy.

After a lifetime of Public Service, I know that all the good people aren't on one side. I am sorry to learn BC is averaging 100 new cases per day. Do they know why? Do they do contact tracing? It is amazing how quickly numbers can get out of hand. Is wearing of masks compulsory or do you wear masks for the greater good? Sounds like your Provincial Health Office is being proactive trying to protect your community. Australia is lucky that we are able to learn from overseas experience. Queensland is lucky because we have the climate for a lot of outside eateries as I no longer eat at cafes inside. I only walk or drive. I think Seniors can do a lot to try to protect ourselves. NSWP Posted September 10, 2020 #2219 Share Posted September 10, 2020 News in from India, 90,000 positive covid cases and 1125 covid deaths in past 24 hrs. Out of control, OK, I know they have a massive population but the numbers are super high. Indian Govt is also reopening the Taj Mahal, but only letting 5000 visitors in at one time. Hope they are spaced out.

It's not just two absolutes, either completely open or not. And there's been barely more of a 'second wave' than there has in QLD. We're not saying open up fully, but equally work together and come up with a solution that doesn't affect people as badly as this is.

Premier, compared with his relationships to the NSW and other Liberal Premiers. I don't have a problem with the PM contacting Labor Premiers confidentially, which is his right, but I have a problem with him going to the press, radio, etc. He has lost my respect! NSWP Posted September 10, 2020 #2224 Share Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) I think the Qld Premier has lost the plot not allowing this girl to attend her father's funeral, she could be escorted there from quarantine in Brisbane and socially distanced, double it if you like. Inhumane treatment. Yet she allows all these footballing families and VIP's in. I don't blame the PM ScoMo for being a little angry. Qld was in Australia last time I checked.
