We stayed at Tank Steam. Weird name but there was some strange reason behind it. Very nice. Walkable to the waterfront, Opera House, botannical garden, ferry to Torranga Zoo. We walked to the ship--it was about 2 blocks. Lots of restaurants, etc. in the area.

This hotel did not have free breakfast but a restaurant was attached. We didn't try it.

Thanks. I did see that one listed but didn’t look into it. I will now.

Thank goodness you have generators for all of the houses.  Do you now have your electric back on??

We had an outage of 12 hours. Some areas near us are still without, close to 48 hours.

A cough will often linger after an infection has resolved. It happens because of residual inflammation and secretions that takes time to clear.

I can attest, it has been like this with Lisa’s cough. I can’t exactly same the same for me as I’m not 100% sure which is allergies VS Covid.

My distant cousin's granddaughter Genevieve (baby Ginny) was born prematurely with a heart defect as well as another medical problem 6 months ago and has been living in CHOPs (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) since birth.  Recently, they found out that she has Noroblastoma, and has so far been given two rounds of Chemo.  Ginny is scheduled for her heart surgery tomorrow morning.  Prayers for her successful surgery are most welcome.🙏

ps...CHOPs is where baby Kennedy was treated.  His mom posted a picture last month.  He is beautiful!

Our prayers 🙏 are on their way for Genevieve Maryann for her heart surgery tomorrow and her Chemo too.

Graham.

I was also looking at that one. I really need to make some reservations for this cruise. I already made some for a TA which is over a year away. 😁

I've booked several hotels in Sydney, all with free cancelation. I kept an "eye" on rates (senior rates), and, slowly, but steadily, I began to cancel those which got reviews not meeting my "requirements".

The winner was this one. Its main "asset" was that we could take the metro from the airport to Circular Quai, and walk from there to the hotel. Same when the cruise ended -- took the metro back to the airport and it was easy, cheap and quick. The terminal was 5 mins walk downhill. Excellent restaurant vis-a-vis the hotel  - Ribs and Burger the Rocks.

Moreover, by keeping abreast of rates, I "managed my reservation" and cancelled and immediately rebooked when they dropped. Saved lots of $$$ by doing this.

Don't know, though, if you can "manage your reservation" under the new name.

Well, I am absolutely exhausted after all the storm cleanup.  Five hours yesterday after we got home, plus ten hours today, but all the cleanup is done.  Of course, that includes doing some cleanup work at a 90 YO neighbor’s house when I saw her out working.

Anyone want a custom fastback Lincoln?  One of the trees from the storm did the work on it

I knew we should have planned more time between trips.  We have breakfast with our granddaughter at the school tomorrow, then lunch with our grandson at the school.   Then we come home and pack.  Flight to California is Wednesday morning from Cleveland. Ready for summer of fun 2.0 as we bring our California grandson back to Pa.

Sounds like you will really busy. I hope you can have time for a nap or two.

That was one of my comments in the post cruise survey. It was so strong, you could smell it as soon as you came out of the dining room.

Both my parents were chain smokers so i've never liked the smell and have never smoked in my life. That smell in casinos make me gag. Even on deck I'll hold my breath while walking by the smokers section.

Hi all.  Off Quantum today and about ten days behind on this thread, so will catch up over the next few days.  Alaska was gorgeous, weather was great, COVID *&%$!  I am now stuck in Seattle isolating with COVID while DH flies home.  He has no symptoms and has tested negative multiple times.  Many escorted off today with COVID. Man taken off in Victoria yesterday to hospital with really bad case of Norovirus.  I wasn’t off ship until almost 11am! Who knows when boarding started today as more came off after me.

Thank you Bonnie. 🌹 Any update on Heela (sp?)

Maryann, Hila or Heela (not sure of the correct transliteration, if there even is one) is now walking slowly with the aid of a walker.    She goes home every weekend to be spoiled by family. Her mom, my niece, is a great cook.  Remember, Hila is  only 15.  Every picture, every video, she has a big smile on her face.  Thank you for asking.

Sorry, Bonnie, if I'm "dense", but what were the "warnings" ?😕

I think it was announced in 2001 that LG cells would not be serviced in the future.

Were they 3g phones?     I am sure the Metro store will be able to transfer the bulk of your information/apps, emails, etc. to the new phone.      Hopefully they offer a nice deal for upgrading.   Good luck🤩

Yes, 3G phones.  Guy in 1st Metro store said the least expensive phone to replace was $200 each and he wasn't sure our apps could be transferred.  Jack got much better advice from the 2nd Metro store he went to.  $89 for a new phone and most apps can be transferred.  We'll both go tomorrow.  At least texting still works.

I agree, it is crazy how much a trip to the food store costs.    I used to use coupons a lot but even they are hard to find.

Here at LBI there is an Acme and a Murphy's market basically the only food stores for the island so prices are always higher than at home.   I spent a small fortune last Friday just to pick up some basics and stuff to grill for a couple of days.   Families renting homes during the summer will be in shock too!

Oh I remember the days of constant trips to the food store when our boys were teenagers.

When my sister and bil moved to El Paso, their son, my  nephew used to spend occasional weekends with us in NY when he was in college in PA.  Wharton, smart kid.  Anyway, I remember calling my sister in alarm and telling her he doesn't stop eating!  She laughed and said not to worry.

Sorry 2001 is incorrect for cell usage.  I think it was 2021.

That is good to hear that Jack got a much better answer from the 2nd guy.     Good luck with switching everything over.    The guy at our phone store did it for me.     Eric did his own.    It was pretty easy with our latest phones but always a learning curve.

That is funny store about your Nephew.

Our Son in his early 20's still does have a very good appetite.  He visited us last week before we came down to the shore and I made spaghetti with meat sauce.    He had his usual 2 heeping plate fulls and was asking for more garlic bread.  He had a very big appetite on the cruise but his metabolism is a lot than different mine.

@Luckynana Maryann - Adding my thoughts and prayers for Baby Ginny.  I met a woman many years ago who was a pediatric oncology nurse in Philly.  This was in the 80s and she may have worked at CHOPS (not really sure).  All nurses deserve incredible praise but those who work daily with sick children are especially deserving.

YouTube just showed me an oldie but a goodie Royal Caribbean video.  Chase and Jenny's Harmony cruise video from 5+ year ago.  Amazing videography by Chase.  Posting here for those who may not have seen it.

I think this one was their best!

Sorry, Bonnie, if I'm "dense", but what were the "warnings" ?😕

The wireless providers have been saying for some time that they would be shutting down the 3G system and phones without 4G Lte or 5G capabilities were destined to become useless.

So, Jack and I didn't heed the warnings, and now as of today, both of our LG cell phones are not working except for ER calls.  We'll have to get new cell phones and not sure our apps can be transferred.  Jack is now, as we speak, at a 2nd Metro store to see what can be done.  We didn't like the clerk in the first Metro store we went to.  Didn't get good vibes from him.  He gave us absolutely no advice saying "I can't do anything".  I had stuff to do at home and am awaiting for Jack's return to see if he was successful in....getting something accomplished.  AND we just gave up our landline a few days ago since we never used it!!

I sent friends and family an email letting them know that email will be our only means of communication until we get new phones which hopefully will be no later than tomorrow.

The apps should be able to be transfered but they may not work until updated to their latest version in order to run on the newer operating system in the phone.

Well, my mind went on a quite "opposite" direction... like Mafia warnings... Too much detective stories, I know 😉

Speaking of…….

I took the new John Sanford book, “The Investigator” as reading material while cruising last week. The main character is Letty Davenport (Lucas’s daughter).

It was a good read, and I can see him developing more in a series with her character.

Had my surgery yesterday to widen the margins after the surgery last month to remove the melanoma. Highlight of the day was the wonderful care by the nurses and the delicious raisin toast post op.  Haven’t had raisin toast for years (like someone on this thread, no-one in my family likes raisins or sultanas)
