Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Thanks for your thoughts. It’s always helpful to get first hand perspective from someone who’s lived in the area for an extended time. I’m definitely leaning towards SW FL as I’m much more familiar with the area, and after doing some research the health care system seems to be vastly improved from years ago. Still have time to work out all the details. I’ve always been a little (or a lot) OCD about planning anything, and this is a big one for sure!

A friend of mine who was born with a congenital heart defect lived in Fort Myers and would come over to Weston (Ft. Lauderdale area) to go to Cleveland Clinic.

Yes, Cleveland Clinic is a huge plus for SE FL and one of the main reasons I’m considering this area. Would definitely want to go there for heart issues. At least it’s not too far across the state.

Went on Friday and Sunday.

A serious shopper never leaves home with a red wagon. Mike got tired of holding all the bags as I shopped. Saw others with wagons and carts so he bought me this and made a shade for them.

This is from Friday. So much for not buying anymore plants until after we move. 🤣🤣🤣

Grammatophyllum scriptum var citrinum. I meant to buy 2 of these and a different grammatophyllum. Made a mistake and ended up with all the same. Went back on Sunday and he was sold out. 😑

I need to find a picture of the one I lost after Hurricane Wilma. It's on my laptop and needs to get charged. Wasn't this big but it was beautiful.

Thank you, Graham, for the special wishes in Hebrew, and Bonnie, for "saving" me the "explanation".

Arzeena, look what you're missing 😉

We celebrated "Shavuot" with our kids, grands and our in-laws (since their other 2 "kids" took the opportunity of the long WE and flew abroad).

Inaugurated our balcony for the season, and were lucky to find a very tasty water melon.

I've baked a cheese cake, as is the tradition. It was a very pleasant and lovely evening, with the time flying by.

That cheesecake delicious! My favorite dessert.
I hope your watermelon was good. I’m going to try to find some watermelon with seeds. Our seedless watermelons don’t have as much flavor as I remember from the good old days.

Last night was another of our grandson’s baseball game.  It was probably one of the most competitive ones they have played.

It came down to three spectacular catches in the last inning, and they held on for a 5-4 victory.  They are now 9-0 on the season.

Today, cleaned our deck and put out all the tables and chairs.  We are trying to get things ready for a birthday party for our daughter.  We will celebrate early on Monday, although her actual birthday is not till Thursday.

Tonight is our granddaughter’s dance recital, so we are looking forward to that. Hopefully some pictures later.

Not to mention no more racial tones like the show started leaning towards in the past.  I think Survivor picked up on how the fans were reacting and dialed it back.  No need for that stuff.😉

I wish I could live long enough to see a day when differences between people only make life more interesting, but not be a cause for fear or prejudice.

I've killed one of those before!  I loved the way it smelled like chocolate.  I bought it in Hawaii and they shipped it home for me.  Poor plant, it never knew what was coming when it was entrusted to my care.  🤪

I once told my grandkids that the summer after I graduated HS I had a summer job working in a NYC Department Store,40 hours for $35.00 a week.During the summer my best friends mother got me a job working 40 hours a week for $59.00.

My granddaughter just got her very first office job which will be 3 days a week,6 hours a day for $288.00.

Times have changed for sure.  My first job was as a 12 year old in the school cafeteria. I rinsed dishes for the dishwashing machine during a feee period at school.  It was a program for kids in poverty and I got 50 cents an hour. Now there are laws to prevent kids from working at that age.  However it didn’t hurt me one bit and I got some spending money that my parents couldn’t afford to give me. I’ve worked at some job ever since.

I think every country should have a cheese holiday! ☺️

October 9 is Moldy Cheese Day.
Would that suffice? There’s Bleu cheese, Gorgonzola cheese…

Mimi, I was just thinking the same thing.  The seedless (hate those small white seeds) watermelons lack the sweetness of the black seed oblong watermelons I also remember.  It's been years since I had really sweet watermelon.

The only cantaloupe type melon I buy is "sugar kiss".  So sweet it tastes like it was drenched in sugar.  Never had a tasteless one.

Personally I think that SW Florida and also SE Florida areas are way too busy and too much traffic.  That said it's also getting that way here in New Smyrna Beach.  The traffic here is noticeably worse than it was 12 years ago when we moved up from the Keys

Why did you leave the Keys? I've had thoughts about some day.....

For those who would like to read "aussie's" review 😉

Yesterday evening, my BFF invited us to some cheese and vine ....

I LOVE cheese and how lovely to catch up with your BFF whilst enjoying this.

If anyone plans to read the review, please start from #30 as that is where I talk about the ports.  The rest will be boring to all of you.

We lived there for 30 years.  Got tired of wondering what to do with the hurricanes.  At the time my dad was still alive and up in Palm Coast.  Just ready for a change of scenery.

I loved all of the orchid pictures. It was like visiting the orchid farm on the Big Island in the comfort of my home!

When  life is really busy, it is the greatest comfort to escape into the world Dani created. We are so lucky to have a place where we know we will find genuine caring and acceptance of what we share.
And lastly, it was 67°F at 1pm today in Jacksonville. I love it!!!
