Rare bobmacliberty Posted September 2 #128481 Share Posted September 2 Happy Labor Day to my fellow Americans! Although Labor Day for many means the end of the summer, it kicks off my favorite time of the year...football season. 😁 It's also the start of a great few months here. The summer crowds die down, and the weather stays really nice for a few more months. Golf is so much more fun with slightly lower temps and greatly lower humidity levels. Great beach day today, although still a little warm at 88F. Live beach cam view: Live Beach Cam - The Amelia Island Club

Some of the people are beginning to take their boats out for the season. We’ll keep ours in for a couple more weeks. We’re already seeing the beginnings of the leaves changing. Sad to see summer coming to an end. Go Lions! 🦁

I may put it in the water one last time this week before I winterize it and put it away for the winter.

I had to come and give my deepest sympathy for the loss of the 6 Israeli hostages. It was such an inhumane thing to do, and words can’t describe the horror. I’m still praying for peace and the end of the suffering on both sides. I am so sad for the families of the hostages. Maybe this tragedy will somehow bring an end to this war. Stay safe, Dani. on a personal note, I am still confined to bed and wheelchair. I’m having therapy twice a week, and am learning to stand up at the walker from my wheelchair. seems so easy, but I’m only allowed to put 30% of my weight on my still healing leg, and my other leg won’t hold me up, so it’s a little depressing. The 13th I go for X-rays again to see how much my femur has healed. It will be the four month anniversary of my fall. I’m hoping that my orthopedist will say I can move to 60%. It’s hard not to step down on my leg, which has always been my stronger leg, so I’m concentrating on that, on using my knees to stand up, and to get my hands on the walker without pulling it over…I’m a mess! I’m aiming for at least being on the walker by my granddaughter’s wedding Dec 14. That would be 7 months after I fell. Tge good thing is that I was healthy for another granddaughter’s wedding May 4. it was 9 days later that I took a step that wasn’t there! Here’s Dick and me after the wedding. I’m so grateful it happened 9 days after instead of 9 days before! I miss you all and will be back when I have my life back! Lovely photo Mimi. Sending healing prayers 🙏 your way. Best wishes. Graham.

helen haywood Posted September 3 #128488 Share Posted September 3 Saturday I had to go to the Walk-In Clinic for a GI issue. Sigh. Had it for the first time back in April. Now that I’ve had it again I’ll need a specialist consult. Also last week had what I thought was a simple but pesky mole on my back not frozen as I anticipated, but removed for a biopsy. It’s been a week but every time I take a shower it feels like pouring alcohol on an open wound. Guess I have sensitive skin. Both of these on top of my walking being slow…I pointed out to DH that I have problems with my bones, my internal organs and my skin. Luckily my brain seems to be working normally…

Have you tried leaving the biopsy site covered while you shower and also not let the shower water hit it directly? That helped me a lot as it is can be really sensitive. I was told water to run over it but don't have a stream hit it directly. After the shower you just change the bandaid after cleaning the area.

I have a bandage over it…so water isn’t hitting it directly. Just flowing down my back. Luckily I have DH to tend it for me because it’s absolutely in the middle of my back…impossible to try to do it yourself backwards in a mirror…. Ever since the biopsy I followed the instructions (I’m such a rule follower…) I didn’t shower for 24 hours. After shower we take the bandage off, gently wipe the area with an antibacterial soap, wipe that off, dry the spot, apply Polysporin and rebandage with a bandage for sensitive skin. Thanks for all the well wishes. I’d just like to have one malfunctioning body part at a time!!! “Good” news is my ankle surgery totally took care of all my insurance out of pocket expenses and co-pays. So at least it’s a cheap time to be sick…

Rare Sea Dog Posted September 3 #128499 Share Posted September 3 Now I know why I like to cruise out of the east coast. Just got up from my alarm set at 1:45am and getting ready to hopefully check in at midnight pacific coast time. It's a lot easier when I cruise from the east coast where I can check in at 11pm.

Should have never said that! 😁
