Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

So one of the things that happened over the last few days, is that I have doubled the number of prescription medications I now have to take.  Of course, I read through all the disclaimers that came with these two new drugs, and was excited to read things like there may be deadly, fatal reactions, or that there may be more severe reactions if you are 65 or older.  Why does it make you feel like you are playing some form of Russian roulette?

One of the most concerning things was the bullet that said “Talk to your doctor before drinking alcohol.”

I know now that it doesn’t mean to call them before EACH drink!

Definitely a deep dive into anxiety when you read the possible side effects.  Sorry that your daughter is dealing with side effects from the chemo and you have to go on new meds.

Hopefully your doctor is a fan of cruising and social drinking in moderation.

Was at the chemist last week for my dad’s usual meds and the chemist was looking puzzled over dad’s script when I first handed it over. Turns out the scarcity of some medication here in Australia which has been reported in the media, applies to my dad’s blood thinners.  The chemist warned me that stock was low not just at his chemist but everywhere and we would likely need to speak to the GP for possible alternatives.

Thanks.  It is actually the soda and water that I am wondering about.  I did not get a refreshment package since I was going to just get bottled water in the SL.  DH got a refreshment because he lives on the diet root beer in the Freestyle machine plus he likes mochas.  We never use all of our vouchers, so I was just going to use one voucher for my daily mocha.  It isn't a deal breaker for us, I can just stock up on water bottles during happy hour if necessary.  I was just cheaping out and not buying a refreshment package this time and now it is $10/day more than what we paid for his.  I am going to wait and see what the concierge says and maybe I just buy a case of water.

I bought the water when it was on sale for around $11.00 for our B2B this past March.  There were 24 bottles.  We also got 4 bottles in the room for being Diamond, plus another 4 bottles for our 2nd part of the cruise.  All in all, we had 32 bottles.  I drink a lot of water, but Jim doesn't...by the end of the cruise, I was drinking water like crazy..lol!

Oh my, all of that food, every dish looks so good!!  I can almost taste that hula pie.

At first glance I thought the women on the plate were pointing guns.  Then I realized they're hula dancers.  🫢

@lenquixote66 Lenny, I hope you have no more eye problems.  Very scary.

It was very scary .I am using an OTC eye gel every two hours that the doctor told me to use until I see the NeuroOpthalmologist.I just got a call from the doctor that I saw yesterday asking how I am feeling.

I sure hope the doctor will come up with an alternative for your Dad's medication.

Same here I am a grill guy. Something about "Man vs Fire." I hear great things about Sous Vide but I like hanging at my grill cocktail in one hand and pair tongs in the other.

I get that.  I also enjoy long slow grilling.

Excellent news Ken, except for lack of sleep. Hope you and your Son have an awesome trip!!

What happens when you are used to getting 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night and you go to bed at 8:00 local time because your body is still thinking it's 2 am....yep up and wide awake since 3am local time.  I'm sensing that a nap by the pool after a few kraken Coladas this after noon will get me adjusted to the new time zone.

My last sunrise and sunset pictures for you all (y’all) from Honolulu.  Today, Tuesday 5/2, we will board Ovation with a 2-day stop in Lahaina, Maui and one day of Kona and then 5 days at sea to Vancouver.  It’s been fun these last 2 weeks.  We’ll see you onboard!

Yesterday’s Sunrise

This morning’s sunrise.  It is drizzling a bit right now.

Sunset with the U.S. Army Museum in the foreground.  This was taken a week ago.

Full Disclosure:  No Uber, Lyft or Taxi were used during the 2 weeks stay in Honolulu.  The only mode of transportation was TheBus (or walking).  Hawaii has one of the best public transportations around.  But of course, thanks be to DH- who has a good sense of direction, who can get us from point A to point B using their app- gets us on the right bus.

And that is why I hate flying west bound.

First time for us flying this far.  The only other time was Seattle and that's only 3 hours so it wasn't a big deal.

In 2019, we did our only east bound TA on Brilliance , Tampa to Amsterdam.

Then , flew back from AMS to ATL to TPA.  Took us a few days before we drove home to the east coast of Fl.  Of course, we had to visit the grandkids.

Something tells me I’m the only one that doesn’t know this, but is that hay? Why would you put it on nice green grass?

Congrats to you and your son.

You’ll love Sydney. I don’t remember what it cost, but the Featherdale Wildlife Park is very interesting. So many animals we haven’t seen before. You can hold a koala if they still do that and you can also get up close to some of the animals and hand feed them. The kangaroos were so cute. We also went to Taronga Zoo which is just across the harbor from Sydney. It has more Australian animals but we didn’t see any we could feed, but I could be wrong. I think there was a petting area for kids where maybe you could feed some, but we didn’t go in there.

The hay also  helps keeps the moisture on the grass seed to help it germinate. Reduces the grass seed from blowing off where you placed it to if you get strong winds. The hay will pretty much decompose too if you just leave it there long enough.

Sous Vide seems to require a lot of single use appliances. The cooker, the vacuum sealer, the pot or tray. I don't have room to store all those, and it seems to be more cooking steps than I am interested in. JMO. ☺️It is like recipes with more than about 5 ingredients and a lot of single use herbs. I shy away from those, too.

I'm like you ,Seems like a lot of work, when I want to eat I want to eat 🙂

@bobmacliberty Thank you for the explanation on how to prepare and cook the sous vide method.  Perhaps if I was younger, when I loved, loved, loved to cook.🙅‍♀️🤔

I’m with you Maryann. I still love to cook to entertain & for the holidays, but for just the two of us I’m a lazy cook. Simple, no fuss recipes.  If I could find a small one like John mentioned that fits in a drawer, and could use a zip-lock bag, I might give it a try since I already have an oversized pot.  I just have no interest in more kitchen equipment or gadgets.

We visited Pearl Harbour yesterday.   It was a sobering visit.   I am glad we got to visit.

Before we boarded the transport boat we could  see the USS Missouri with a Lighthouse in the distance.
