What do you miss the most by not cruising?

Really shocked by some of these replies, especially from loyal cruisers.  Perhaps if it was the dead of winter the answers might be different.

What do I miss about cruising?  Just about everything.  In particular, I miss the total relaxation.  I probably miss the crew the most, the nice meals served to me (I HATE to cook!), and the shows (especially since there are no shows to see now on land).  I could go on and on but those are my top three.

Everything, from the planning months in advance to sitting on our balcony enjoying a morning coffee or evening night cap to exploring ports, both new and old, to flying home with many new and wonderful memories.

Honestly at the moment nothing.

i am enjoying being at home and not having to plan what to pack

I have super automatic expresso machine that makes any kind of espresso based drinks you can think of by just pressing a few buttons, Jura Giga 5.   Don’t have to wait in any line to get one

I have all the liquor I like and make the drinks the way that I like them.

Have a nice deck with a hot tub that I can sit on and do what I want, including having a drink while in it

have great internet if 8 want to use it

Have many TV channels, videos and etc to watch instead of the few that are available on board.

I can go on and on

Life is great and really don’t miss any cruising at the moment and even did a few lift and shifts as we don’t want or need to sail anymore this year.

I miss visiting our family and friends more

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I guess you enjoy reading about cruising on this forum though? LOL

I miss waking up every morning to either a beautiful ocean or an exciting new place to explore.  I miss the luxury of not worrying about anything and having my meals prepared for me and the bed made.  I miss the friends we've made on cruises, especially since our March cruise with them was cancelled.  I miss sitting at the World Class Bar and chatting with my DH.  I miss wandering into Michael's Club and no one else is there but the bartender, and having great conversations with them.  And I miss the friendly crew from all over the world.  And that's just the start....

What I miss most is the ability to cruise if I want to.  My next choice would be a driving trip around the South, starting with my home state of GA.  But I can't do that either.  EM

Fun post!  Thanks....

While I cannot imagine getting on a cruise ship just now, I do miss many things about cruising, especially since we just cancelled a 11/8 Reflection sailing to the America's - too much "unknown" at this time.  I miss:

-the open seas, which allow me to truly "escape"

-the amazing crew we consistently experience

-the wonderful food (which we do not have to prepare)

-exciting destinations (last fall, Italy!) and private tours

-meeting new friends

-planning for the next cruise

Well, I guess that means I miss just about everything!  🙂

We are hoping this is all figured out before our 8/2021 Baltic cruise on the Reflection.

I could enjoy a great sea day right about now.  For me, it is up early and getting my 10,000 steps end to allow me freedom to eat and drink the rest of the day.  Also early walking is great for me as I listen to my iTunes cruise playlist.  I enjoy the breeze, the gently rocking of the ship, and the sun rising.

Then, back to cabin, to pick up DW for breakfast if we are going early and she did not walk with me.  After breakfast, we like to go get a specialty coffee and maybe a danish and  sit around.  Check out to see if there are any happenings we want to attend.  Absent anything on our Daily, we go up top and find lounges in the shade away from pool area and settle in for the morning.  DW reads and I put in I pod and take a snooze.  Around 11, I may go to the bar that has my beer and DW's drink if she chooses also.

We tend to eat a little later and then look to see if there are any activities we want to participate in.  If not, then we sometimes just walk around or go to a bar and sit at the bar, especially an outside bar.  Love the breezes, salt air and movement of ship.  Also, seem to always get a conversation started with others which we like to do as once we have met/talked we see them again and  continue friendship, sometimes even going to dinner together that evening if it works out.  Around 4 pm, I start thinking about what Martini I will get this afternoon ( 75% of time it is the same one, a Blue something  (You would think I would know it by now, but it is always on the menu or bartender knows what I want.  It is with hypnotic.)

Then dinner plans, hoping tonight is Murano's.  I love Murano's.  Bummer about Edge class as I understand they do not have Murano's.

After dinner, we hit casino to make a donation to ship's profit, then look for what is happening onboard that we want to do.  Sometimes we get involved in the entertainment by crew doing some type of trivia.  I get involved.  DW watches.

Later, we head up top/outside to look at the moon on the water if available and just talk for a bit.

Sometimes, we go have late snack(not a meal) and head to bed to start over if another sea day or to prepare for our port of call excursion even if it is a walk around only the port area.

I have LOTS to do right now on land, but I do like to think about another perfect day in the future on a sea day on a Celebrity cruise ship.

Since I have a hard time sleeping in, even on vacation, I miss early mornings watching the sea go by with a drink from Café al Bacio, followed by eggs Benedict for breakfast (which I love but only ever get on cruises). I miss exploring new places. I miss Murano. I miss the Martini bar and the Silent Disco. And I miss getting an amazing night's sleep every night as I'm gently rocked to sleep.

I miss the excellent service we  receive on Celebrity. My husband says we don't "vacation" since we're retired, we travel. I say if I don't have to fix meals, clean the house and make the beds, it's a vacation.

Easy fix... use money saved from refunds to get a cleaning service, stop making beds,  and do take out or eat out when things open up. Grill outdoors if you can so you  can share the cooking chore. I personally don't cook,  and we share doing laundry tasks.

That's what we do other than having a  cleaning svc.  Since we retired, we usually handle that ok. We have a  great lawn maint company.  I have a few fun areas for gardening,   and we  hire folks to do big jobs.  We did buy a big snow blower, just in case!

We  enjoy our  yards, deck, screened porch, and lanai.  In Fl,  there are many amenities where we are located, gulf sunsets.....ahhhhh!

Cruising is/was fun but even a nice weekend away can sometimes do the trick!

Enjoy, stay safe and healthy!

Many long time loyal cruisers  have not been thrilled since it became more like Royal C, esp under LLP.    The whole  cancellation/ refund debacle also a turn off.

I am sure we and many others will be back in time  but right now we are  on "PAUSE"

Phil,

It was a weak attempt at humor (or humour in your language).😀
