Very sorry to see Empress leave the Royal Caribbean fleet. Will definitely book a cruise with whichever line has purchased her, she is a special ship.

Jonathan

If you hurry you might get on the cruise from Greece to Turkey.

Is TradeWinds a reliable source?

Yes, very. I'm quoting here from a facebook page as written -

"EMPRESS of the SEAS has been sold to an undisclosed buyer. According to some media it is only known that the new owner is based in New York and has scrapped three ships so far... 🙄
So as much as everybody was saying that any scrapping rumors been hypocratic as RCCL was until now claiming not to have any plans to sell ships... Please wake up now...!"

Quoting a Facebook post does not confirm the reliability of the article.

Rumors are once again, inaccurate https://is.gd/THxpnm

Well, he is not a primary source, either. If you believe that he called RC and they accurately refuted the rumor, then you can believe his blog.

(btw, good job on working around CC's blocking software 😉 )

So....Tradewinds appears to be a reliable source.  Here is what I have found (yes, Wikipedia - which is not always correct):

TradeWinds is the world's biggest shipping news service, publishing both online news and a printed weekly newspaper, that covers shipping as a global industry. TradeWinds is owned by NHST Media Group and is headquartered in Oslo.

TradeWinds has been setting the maritime agenda for over 25 years and covers all aspects of shipping, focusing especially on news related to owners and the commercial side of the industry. The coverage includes new buildings, sale and purchase activities, chartering, recycling, but also marine insurance casualties and piracy.

TradeWinds has full-time reporters based in Shanghai, Singapore, New Delhi, Athens, Oslo, Stamford, Connecticut and London.

In 2000, TradeWinds added an online edition which is continuously updated from Singapore, London and Stamford. The TradeWinds App was launched in 2012 and is available on both iOS and Android. And in 2013, these platforms were joined by TW+, a quarterly glossy magazine that has continued the TradeWinds tradition of shaking up the way shipping is covered.

FROM THE TRADEWINDS WEBSITE:

TradeWinds

Celebrating 30 years as the go-to news source in shipping, TradeWinds continues to offer market-leading coverage as it unpacks the key issues.

Our global editorial team of experts offer peerless independent journalism, insight and business intelligence that simply can’t be found anywhere else.

We get close to the key movers and shakers on the ground in the US, UK, Norway, Greece, Singapore, China, India and all points in-between.

Shipping never sleeps – so don’t miss a moment with TradeWinds’ unrivalled round-the-clock coverage.

The 'source; appears reliable but like others I refuse (or don't want to) to believe it until RCCL announces something.
