BND Posted October 23, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2021 Tony (La Lido Loca) did a video about it yesterday too. It's the very specific rules for HK. And, it was a crew member with at first an inconclusive test, so they weren't sure he even had it. Apparently this same crew member had tested positive in the last couple of months too, so may be something with the individual and not a real case.

But cruisers are a hardy bunch and lots of them like gambling in the casino on board. So just think of this as those 1,200 folks who missed their cruise in Hong Kong just went to the 'casino' early, before the ship embarked. They lost. Next time they might get lucky. 🙏 🤞 Edited October 23, 2021 by DirtyDawg

That being said Canada has just now lifted non-essential travel advisory, except on cruises. The are still “dangerous”.🤦♂️ “The federal government has lifted a global advisory asking Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside the country, but continues to advise against travel on cruise ships. The global travel advisory was put in place in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The government of Canada’s website now shows advisories for each destination country, as it did prior to the pandemic.” https://www.thefreepress.ca/news/canada-lifts-global-advisory-on-non-essential-travel-still-advises-against-cruises/

Apparently Australia drafted a bill last week to allow cruise ships. if it’s approved,I’m thinking RC may swap spectrum for Quantum and bring Quantam to Oz for a few months before Alaska. Do you mean also for RCG not to have a ship in China/Hong Kong until after April, when Quantum heads off to Alaska? There are only 2 ships currently in the Asia/Oceania region. Just another thought, if the bill does get past and approved for cruising to restart, why not leaving Royal's ships where they are and bring down a Celebrity ship that is hanging around Asia? Spectrum doesn’t seem to be having much luck with China. They May as well move it to Singapore early. Quantum is the closest and Crewed up ship that could satisfy a restarting test of any brand. ‘Plus they could probably do a revenue trans pacific to Seattle, that would sell quickly. Are the celebrity ships crewed? If not it may not be viable to bring them for such a short time.
