Diamond drinks

As non-drinking Diamond + members, we didn't use any of our vouchers.  Too bad you can't select ahead of time whether or not you want these vouchers, or receive a lowered value onboard credit instead.

Try the fresh-squeezed OJ at breakfast, or a smoothie from the Vitality Cafe in the spa.  Buy a drink for a friend.  🙂

They don't really care about whose card is being used for what drink, which is sort of another way of saying what you are saying.  They take either of our cards for any of our drinks, so, for example,  I can have 6 and my wife can have 4.  Still totals our 10.

This was my experience also. My wife does not have pockets in most of her oufits so I always carry her Seapass for her. When I would order drinks for the either (or both) of us, I just used the first card that came out of my pocket. As long as there were Diamond drinks available on the card, the bartender would use whatever card I gave him to "pay" for the drinks.

Do unused Diamond drinks carry over for use on the remaining days of that cruise?

Read back a few posts.  They expire at midnight.  However you can go to any bar before midnight and "cash out" any remaining vouchers for unopened canned beverages (soda, beer, Truly's) and take them back to your room cooler for another day.

Sorry, I know this has been asked before but I’ve searched a lot of pages here and didn’t find the current info. Sailing ( hopefully) on Sunday, are we still getting 4 drinks anytime, anywhere for diamond. I have a friend that just came back from a cruise and said it was only at certain times. I had thought it was changed when the cruises started back up. Again, sorry for a repeat question. Take care.

We were on a cruise a couple of weeks ago and it was 4 drinks at bars any time from mimosas at the windjammer for breakfast to a nightcap at the schooners. The vouchers worked at Labadee and CocoCay. If you get free drinks (e.g., at the casino), you need to make sure that the waiter/bartender charges the casino and not use a voucher.

We were dining in Chops with friends, and my DH stayed to chat, while I went out on the pool deck. I ordered several drinks, until he returned and handed me my Seapass, that I had left in the restaurant. I told him I had it my pocket and had already ordered beverages.

When I pulled the Seapass I had been using, out of my pocket, I realized it was actually from 2 cruises ago on a different ship. :classic_biggrin: The bar server said he just looked me up on the computer. :classic_huh:

You may share them also.

Heck, sell them for $5 -- 10 per drink. 😄

Sadly, not true.

We just got off Anthem.  The number of drinks for my wife and myself were not combined.  If you order six drinks (assuming a five drink limit), you will be charged with the extra drink and then have to spend 20 minutes at Guest Relations having them switch the drink to the other account.  This happened more than once.

We were recently on Navigator, every drink went on my card only. 10 drinks a day and never had a problem. I ordered two Royal Zombies from the bamboo room and both drinks had a $1.28 up charge for going over the $13 limit.  Both charges were on my card.

You need to keep track of how many drinks you order and the sever is charging to each card. We never experienced the problems you had. If you aren't sure how many drinks are left on each card, ask.

That sounds like a bartender not really paying attention to his customer.   Fortunately that has not happened with us and in fact on more than one occasion the bartender asked if we wanted a drink charged to the opposite card so as not to go over the other card limit.  Often (in particular in the DC) once we show both cards (and they copy the stateroom number) they never ask for the card again.  Never had an issue with exceeding our limit without notification.

Will be on Anthem next week - hopefully we won't experience your issue! 🤥

If kids are also Diamond members and 4 of us are cruising together, then it's just a pool of 16 drinks total per day?  The kids could potentially use more than their 4 vouchers each, or the two adults could tap into the vouchers loaded for the kids?

There have been conflicting reports about ordering adult drinks on a kid's card.  Some have managed to do it, others have been turned down.

Yes, though a bartender may not give you an alcoholic drink on the kids' card.

I believe the problem occurred when the server asked for the cabin number and simply put the drinks on the first name that popped up even when told to use the specific card.

This wouldn't work on Anthem.  Perhaps, there is a difference in the way various ships handle the transactions.

When in doubt, ask the server to check the balance on each card before ordering. Beats standing in line or on the phone with GS getting the charge reversed.

No, they all handle the transactions the same. At least that has been the case with us for the 16 different RCCL ships we've been on thus far.  I think your situation on Anthem was unique and someone simply made a mistake.

If your Diamond member children are all 21 or over then in theory I guess that would be the case. Typically, when it is just my wife and I, we frequent the same venues and the bartenders get to know us.  When they run a transaction the remaining vouchers are indicated and they just charge any given drink against an open voucher.  Often - in particular in the DC - they just write down our stateroom number and count the drinks against that as that is what appears when they run the drink order. The net total is still the same.

So if your adult children are with you, chances are a drink order from any of you would in theory be run against any card up to the voucher limit.  But obviously you would have to be together when ordering your drinks for the bartenders to be able to do this to confirm the cards to be used.

I was also just on Navigator and had the same royal zombies. Pretty good but very sweet.  I am pretty sure it was $1.18 plus tip.  First cruise using these vouchers and it was great trying all these different drinks. I liked the gumbay smash the best from the lime and coconut bar.

One of the very few cruises that there was seating at all times in the DL during happy hour(only other time I have experienced this was on Alaska cruises).  Sad that there were very few people to meet and talk to in DL.  Though we did become friends with a bunch of people that came in. Even met a couple that lives within a few miles of us here on Oahu.  What a small world!

I also kept track via the Royal app.  The drink charges post immediately on the app.

Sorry that happened, yogimax. We were on the same cruise as you and one time at end of evening we went to order two drinks and the bartender actually informed us he had to use my card as the two remaining drinks were on mine (a previous bartender had charged two to my husband's card as opposed to one to each).

We only had one problem during the cruise when we were charged for a "diamond" drink at full price vs. zero. We went to guest services and that was resolved quickly after she called the specific bar (Vintages).

Hope you enjoyed the cruise. Here is to Queens 🙂😉
