Kotor is another wonderful walled city that everyone should have a chance to see.  We first went there in August, 2017 on the Westerdam.  The second time was on the Pacific Princess in late November, 2018 so quite a difference in weather.  It was rainy and cool that time.  The third time was in June 2019 on a segment of our 50th anniversary Family Cruise.  The family hadn't joined us yet but we can't just go to Europe for a week or 10 days!  We had to add on to it.  The weather was pretty that time, too.

We got the coveted docking spot right across from the old City walls on Aug. 2017 on the Westerdam.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVL4owiQKruubn4B276p1F5A?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1503945326

Good morning  to  all.I am happy to report that my DB tested negative for covid. He is still a practicing MD and can't  return to work for another week.He said he was fatigued but feeling better overall.  Roy @rafinmd, he can be unlisted now but thanks to all  for the prayers.

@Cruzin Terri, sorry about the root canal but at least you got in to the dentist quickly.

@JAM37,I hope your migraine  symptoms are less today.

We have not been to the port and always liked dinosaurs. Hypertension control is so important. @dfish,Debbie,  all of the recipes are keepers, thanks. I never met a potato I didn't  like.

Have a lovely day

Terry

Here's a handsome cat from Kotor in 2017.  00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLCRskuZJbi9rrqQnzQlw-J?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1503945698

I think the reason we think Kotor has been listed as destination of the day before is that some of us posted the cat photos from our trips there.  I know I posted the 7 cats on the steps photo once already.

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  I'm married to a pack rat . . . I keep looking at the stuff he's got in the garage, in the basement, and in the storage areas around the yard and wonder what I'm going to do with it all if he dies.  I know family certainly doesn't want any of it, but he's always thinking he can make something out of nothing.  On the other hand, I'm more of a sentimentalist in that I keep things that have meaning for me - such as the veil I wore for my First Communion (60 years ago).  LOL

Everyone should keep track of their blood pressure - especially if there's a history of hypertension in the family.  Who doesn't love dinosaurs, especially the ones in cartoons?

Well the fellow showed up around 11:30 yesterday morning to fix the deck roof, but I don't think he likes working too much.  After a couple of hours he left for lunch . . . 2 hours later he returned, then left an hour later to pick up his daughter from school.  Then he left around 5PM and said he'd be back at 7AM.   It's now 7:36 and there's no sign of him.   I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the guy - we've got some errands to run and will just go about our day.  DH had a call from the sleep study centre where they had a cancellation, so he'll be having an overnight stay there tonight.  Time for some new slippers for him.

@JAM37I'm sorry to hear about your migraine; I haven't had a bad one like that in ages (thankfully), but know what you're going through.  It usually takes me a couple of days to fully recover when I've had a knock-down, drag 'em out one like that.

@kazuyour neighbours sound like great people; I'm glad they're stepping up to help with the small things like that.

I like today's menu suggestion, but DH doesn't care for potato wedges.  On the other hand, I'm pretty sure if I used regular fries it would make a great meal for us.  Because we had salmon last night, it's time for a change and @marshhawkgave me a great idea - it's time to make up a meatloaf, a fave of DH.  It's looking like meatloaf, mashed potatoes and fresh green beans will be what's on our dinner table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Extra prayers for the people of Ukraine and all they're going through, as well as the folks in various locations throughout the US who are dealing with mass shootings.  We'll raise our glasses high to celebrate all on the happy list.  Get your boosters, wear your masks when you need to, be safe, and stay well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise.  It's from my 2017 Panama Canal cruise San Diego to New York.  May 17 was the sea day between Charleston and New York.

Mask mandates inside are back in NY

Recommended in NYC, not required. Separate recommendation from the NYS health department but will probably be less effective in the rest of the state than in NYC.

I'm flying out from Newark on Friday but would wear a mask even if not required. It will be required during the flights, because they're on Austrian and the government of Austria requires them, although it has dropped vacc or test requirements to enter the country.

I have (controlled) hypertension and I've been called a pack rat. A former cat liked any small black object that he could pick up and would take and hide it. No dinosaurs here but I'm sure that the Junior Cat is keeping watch and would tell me if there were.

I had a booking last year that included Kotor but the cruise never took place, and the one I replaced it with for this year has a different itinerary. Leaving from Athens instead of Venice/Trieste/Ravenna and calling at Kusadasi in Turkey.

I like potatoes and can eat them in moderation, but I doubt that I'd make, or order, the dish of the day.

Speaking of which, and of Marie Kondo, the potato peeler doesn't spark joy for me, but I'm keeping it.

Last year when I moved from Minnesota back to South Dakota I did find out that I was indeed a pack rat.  I had lived there for 20 years, and it really surprised me how much "stuff" I had accumulated over the years.  The majority of the stuff was given away to people that could use it or local charities as I didn't want to move it all.  I also kept the trash man very busy as well.  It took me over a year to get rid of everything, but it was definitely worth it, as the move was much easier when I didn't have to worry about moving what little was left after downsizing everything.  I had given all the furniture in the house away to people who could use it, so when I did move it was mostly just clothes and some personal items left to move.  I will never be a pack rat again.  Well, I hope not, but old habits are hard to break.  I may use that again, so I better keep it for a while.  Yeah, right, Good Luck with that.  But that was the way I was brought up, you don't waste, so I blame my parents.  LOL

Good morning everyone,

I am currently on the Allure of the Seas sailing to Aruba. Was able to book a last minute sailing that left 2 days after my brother returned to England. Have been keeping up with the Daily but not posting. Enjoying the cruise despite the lack of anticipation that normally precedes boarding. Pleased to say so far I haven't realized that I've forgotten anything. Wish I could say the same for DH!!

Regards to everyone

Good morning, Everyone.  Thankfully, we don't have any pack rats here.  Things like @marshhawk's grandmother's champagne glasses are a problem, though.  Our kids like modern things, so not sure what to do with all the old tabletop things that are so pretty.  Dinosaurs used to be dangerous.  Hypertension is now.  I like any quote from W.C. Fields, even when I don't agree with him.  The meal today brings to mind loaded potato skins.  Thanks for the recipes, @dfish.  Good stuff!

We have been to Kotor, Montenegro one time and agree with Sandi -- it's a wonderful place, excellent port stop.  I remember the shops having delightful, colorful souvenirs.  We bought DD a cosmetic bag that had on it a glamorous girl on a motor bike -- all pink and darling.  Very fun port stop.

@JAM37, I hope you feel better very soon.  Those migraines can leave one wobbly for a few days.

@msmayor, thank goodness your DD has good insurance!  I'm so glad she's on the mend, though.  Have to wonder if feeling bad from the gallbladder had a lot to do with her early postpartum difficulties.  The dear first-time mother probably thought all new mother's feel physically terrible, but are supposed to be thinking only about baby.  It would be very confusing.  In any case, it's wonderful that she's had so much support from you and is feeling more confident.

@smitty34877, good to hear your DB is out of the covid woods.  @Cruzin Terri, wishing you an ouchless root canal.  🦷

Today we will be visiting three different assisted living places for DMIL.  She was with us for a time, then back in her own house, now wants to be in assisted living close to us.  We toured places extensively a few years back, so are familiar with all near us.  Today it is just looking at available apartments and selecting one.  She's a very social person, so is anxious for this change.  We were too dull for her, I'm afraid!

Many thanks to Rich and all contributors here.  I'll be dreaming about Montenegro all day, and wishing everyone a safe and pleasant day.  😍  🌻

M

Enjoy.  2 Dailyites on Oasis Class ships.

Good morning all!

Yesterday's rain turned into a very nice sunny afternoon and I enjoyed garden time and visiting with neighbors.

Today we'll be taking cupcakes to the grandsons for the 9-year-old's birthday yesterday.  The plan was to bring down the 2 kayaks we got for their birthdays (the younger one's birthday is in a couple weeks) but yesterday (and I hope I'm not starting something here) DH's battery was dead.  Got that fixed, but then the lift gate of his Subaru won't open and there's a "beeping sound" that won't stop.  He went to the dealership but they're so busy they can't look at it for a few days....the kayaks won't fit in my car, so instead I'm bringing photos of the kayaks to them!  The saving grace is that DD and DSIL have to figure out a way to transport the kayaks when they go camping, plus it isn't kayaking weather here yet so we have lots of time.  The kayaks will continue to sit in our house!  😅

I'm married to a pack rat, but he's better than he used to be.  I have hypertension, it's a family curse.  Bless my doctor, finding meds that help me but don't have a ton of bad side effects.  I think I've been on nearly everything, and finally have a combo that works with no side effects. Some give a nagging cough, some swelling of the ankles, on and on. Our family loves dinosaurs, especially the youngest DGS.  We've been to many dinosaur museums and even drove hundreds of miles out of our way to an archeological site in Montana to see "Leonardo", the only dinosaur found with flesh.  It was fascinating to see.

I'll pass on the wine, drink and meal (can't imagine potatoes in nachos....but I'm not a huge potato fan) but I adore Kotor and have been there a few times.  Like Sandi @StLouisCruisersI was sure we'd had it as the port before, but now I realize she's right, we just shared our cat photos one day.  I remember sharing mine, and I remember hers of the 7 cats on the steps. Kotor, like Santorini, is a cat lover's paradise 😉

Last night I ordered our next round of home tests.  Just a caution for those who have them -- they do expire before long.  Ours expire in a couple months. I don't know if the next ones will expire so soon also.   Also, when I did a self-test last week, one of the "pre-filled tubes" was empty!  That was a surprise!

@JAM37Julia I'm so sorry about your migraine.  I've only had 2 in my life and know how miserable they are.  I hope today will be much better.

@Cruzin Terrisorry about the root canal, it's good you could get in quickly. 🙂

We've been to Kotor a few times, and like I said, I love it and it's one of my favorite ports.

It's an easy town to just wander around in.

I could easily post dozens of cat photos from Kotor, but will just leave this one here. This was just outside the Cat Museum.

I had vowed not to buy any more souvenir magnets, but this one captured my heart.

We took a boat excursion to the Skrpjela Baroque Church.  View of our ship from the boat.

Good morning and thanks all!  Confess for a fondness for stegosaurus.  We are lucky to live near some famous dinosaur finds.   Our university team was the Dino’s.

We've enjoyed Kotor a few times, last time we explored further afield.

A quick bit of advice from our now retired MD -- to help prevent migraines, take 100 mg Vitamin B2 (not B 12) twice a day......I had trouble believing that would work but at most I might have 1 mild migraine in a year.

Good morning. Yesterday’s gray overcast soon disappeared and we enjoyed another beautiful day. No sunset pics as last night just fizzled out!

Thanks again for all the anniversary wishes.

Today we’re driving up around the North Shore to go on another food tour.

Yesterday we were visited by two highly endangered Hawaiian Monk Seas who after fishing all night decided to nap on our beach. They immediately get priority and a large area is roped off with signs saying quiet seals sleeping. They spent the afternoon until high tide then went back to another night of fishing and avoiding predators!

Thanks for the Daily, Care/Celebration List, laughs, recipes and comments.

Wish we were on Allure now.

I hope you have an amazing cruise Roy on Adventure of the seas.

Good morning, Dailyites!Busy times here, today I get my hair cut, and tomorrow, after stamps (that's where I am a pack rat) we have appointments to get our boosters.  Can't wait!

I used to get awful migraines, but I haven't now for about ten years.  I do get ocular migraines, but at least they don't hurt!   @JAM37, I feel for you!

We had a wonderful day in Kotor in 2019.  @sailingdutchy organized a full day tour, we actually only had a quick walk through Kotor itself, no chance to spend money...  But we visited an interesting resort town, Budva, and had  wonderful lunch in the countryside at a prosciutto farm/factory.  My cousin's husband decided he wouldn't go with us, as he wanted to climb that mountain behind the city, and he said it was marvellous.  He's still talking about it.

A lot of my pictures are like those posted, but I'll look for some others.

Proof we did it!

I've sailed most of the classes of RCI ships from Empress to Monarch, Vision, and Radiance classes as well as Anthem and Allure.  I have not sailed the two in between, I think it's Voyager and Freedom classes.  Personally, I much prefer the Centrum idea to the Royal Promenade.
