Good morning all!

Will see if the weatherman has it right today.  Yesterday 0% rain was predicted and we had more rain in one day than I can remember!  At least the annuals I planted got watered in well.  Today is supposed to be a high of 60F and 0% rain (that sounds good to me). 😉

Happy Flag Day!  I'll pass on the bourbon and bath but cheers to all blood donors.  We had our sunken bathtub taken out when we remodeled the bathroom.  It had only been used a few times in 20+ years so it hasn't been missed.

Will pass on the meal, drink and wine too.  Have not been to the port but I see it's on the Grand Australia itinerary for '24 so I hope we'll have photos today.

DGS and DD are doing well.  DGS was bouncing off the walls after 1 day in quarantine. 🤣  Thank goodness for vaccines!!

Julia @JAM37I have my DVR set for all episodes of Call the Midwife, but have you checked On Demand to see if they have the episodes you missed?

Debbie @dfishI sure hope that skunk kept on moving and long gone now!

Sue @RowsbyI'm so sorry your Casey has passed.  Our last 2 cats lived to be 17 too -- and I remember how hard it was.

Thank you to our Daily contributor's. Roy thanks for your note of celebration and thoughts of your brother's passing. That was Roger, right?

Rowsby I'm sorry about Casey's going over the Rainbow Bridge.

Hot hot hot and windy here in Georgetown. 100's into the near future. Will be in Maui July 4th. The weather is high 70's and looking forward to it and seeing my sis.

Luckily our trees and flowers are blooming like crazy. It's a 2nd bloom on our rose trees.

Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the Recipes.

I will definitely celebrate Flag Day and blood donors.

The quote is true. The meal sounds interesting.

I haven't read past page one of yesterday's Daily but will get to it today.

Jack, @Heartgrove, sending condolences and prayers.

Jacqui, @kazu, happy to see your post yesterday.

Terry, @smitty34877, what a scary experience.

It is overcast an 79 this morning.

For those who watch Call the Midwife... I had missed a couple of episodes and in the past I have been able to catch up on the PBS app so I tried to do the same and the show is no longer there. Do any of you know why?

Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists.

If  you  can  get  Channel 24 from  Canada you  can see all of  the

episodes.

Good morning all and Happy Flag Day.  This was always a good day for some end of the year activities when I was teaching.

Prayers for all in need.  Rowsby — sorry about your pet.  They bring us a lot of joy but it is very sad when they leave us.

I just tested negative for my cruise but sadly my friend will not be able to go.  She has had two positive and two negative tests!  But she is not going to risk going.

Roy — did you say that on Royal now you may eat dinner with those not in your travel group?  I may have to go that route!  I really don’t want to eat alone!  Katherine

That was correct, at least on Anthem.

@Seasick Sailor, you remember correctly.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

I fly the flag daily (lit at night). Not a bourbon fan. I used to be a blood donor (and bone marrow), but can't now (and aged out for marrow donation). I have a big old claw foot tub, but shower all the time. True quote. I'll pass on the meal and drink. I'll take the wine.

I haven't been to Alofi. Thanks for any pictures.

There were storms overnight, but luckily no power outage for me. I didn't even hear the rain overnight. Now it's quite humid. I got the rest of the bushes trimmed yesterday, so I'll relax today. And I have a very early dentist appointment tomorrow. I got an invitation to my 50th 😮 high school reunion! I think I went to the 20th or 25th. For the 30th it was the weekend before starting a new job and I didn't want to risk traveling and getting stuck and missing my first day on the job! I'm not inclined to go, although this is probably the last one.

@rafinmd Happy Heavenly Birthday to your brother, and prayers for comfort for you.

@smitty34877 What a wonderful neighbor to make that offer for Tana.

@kazu The hydrangea is lovely.

@Rowsby So sad to hear of Casey passing. ((Hugs))

@marshhawk I hope the meds help Bobagingee.

@Lady Hudson Sorry your friend can't make the trip.

@Cruising-along Good to hear DD and DGS are doing well.

Prayers for the Care List, and the dire situation in Ukraine. Cheers to the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

Good Afternoon from a warm and cloudy day at the beach

Happy Flag Day!  Great day ( and everyday) to celebrate our flag.  Ours waves proudly every day!

@Heartgrove I am so sorry to hear of your sisters passing. I am glad that you were able to be with her. We wish for peace and comfort to you and your family in the days and weeks ahead.

Busy day here for me. Packing up to leave early tomorrow morning for Pennsylvania. Another nephew getting married on Saturday.  This is the last of them for awhile.   All good. We are driving or I should say I am driving. We will take it easy doing it in 2 days. Those straight thru drives are long over for me.  Told my DH it will give us an opportunity to discuss plans/excursions for our Australia trip in the fall.

 Be safe and enjoy today

      Charlene

Thank you all for the condolences sent for my sister. This is such a wonderful community to belong to. Funeral will be Thursday.

We were on our way yesterday morning to see my brother when my DSIL text us that he was being moved to the hospital for the PEG surgery.  The gastro pharangeal tube that they had been using suddenly developed a leak at the port. It had leaked twice on him so they were discontinuing feeding him. It had been scheduled for Friday but needed to be done expeditiously. Now the latest is that may be postponed until tomorrow. ???

So Sue and I spent yesterday afternoon at the local IKEA store - and a change of pace for lunch. I hadn' been in this store for twenty years. Thankfully we were back in the hotel when the tornado-like storm came directly through the area last evening! Today is supposed to be 97 degrees. I need to get back to my cooler Shenandoah Valley.

I could use a few Ketel One Dirty Martinis. Extra olives, please.

Stay Safe!

Jack

Good afternoon friends!  I’m feeling a bit down but I will talk about that later. First @RowsbySue I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty Casey passing. Casey lived a long and wonderful life in your care. 😿

@HeartgroveJack in case I missed saying it yesterday my condolences on the loss of your sister. May she RIP.

@smitty34877Terry I’m so glad all were safe after the gas leak and alarm. And what wonderful neighbors you have!

@grapau27Graham the Captain made an announcement this afternoon and pinned our position as off the coast near Newcastle. Thought of you and Pauline. 😉

@kazuJacqui your flower pics are beautiful, as usual. Thanks for sharing.

@Seasick SailorJoy as Graham said your garden is lovely. It looks well established for being so recently planted.

My twin says Buddy is back at the ER since last night. They tried to do an MRI and failed so were going to sedate him and try again. They were going to move him into a hallway but niece Amy raised a fuss. This is a cancer patient that they want to expose to Covid and who knows what else.  Twin says she has a bad feeling about this. 😥

Well, today the Covid cootie showed its ugly face in our cabin. I was coughing again (a lot) and woke with a hoarseness to my voice. I said I may as well get this over with and called Medical. They sent someone up about 45 minutes later to check me out. Both of us were swabbed and nearly an hour later the verdict was I’m positive and DH is negative.  He has to go down to Medical at 9 am tomorrow for a retest. I really hope he stays negative so he can see Haugesund and Olden, neither of which we’ve seen before. Also he would be able to attend the Most Traveled Guest luncheon again which is this Friday. Tonight is formal night so he will put his suit on, as always, and dine alone. I know our waiters will be sad. They’re both wonderful.

I was so upset at how long it took anyone to come lead me to my quarantine room. I’m in a secluded Covid wing unlike all we saw last week. I guess they ran out of quarantine rooms last week so left people in their original rooms. Anyway I’m in an obstructed oceanview on Emerald deck. But it’s really lonely being in Covid jail!  And I was so starved by the time the escorts showed up hours later. I called room service for a turkey sandwich and fruit and it took 70 minutes to arrive. I was weak with hunger!  So there I was eating lunch at nearly 3 pm. Not sure when I’ll be hungry again but I’d better not call too late or dinner will arrive at midnight. Something light perhaps.

Later this afternoon a tiny flower arrangement about 6 inches tall was placed on my hall table with a speedy recovery note from the Captain and ship’s teammates. Maybe they feel bad at their slow response to sick guests. 😏

The nurse this morning said I have to quarantine 6 days and today is Day 0. So Day 6 is next Monday, our stop at Alta, another new port for us. If they get their act together maybe I can “bust outa jail” in time to go off the ship for a visit. I don’t get tested until Monday again. Bummer!

I hope my internet works the next week so I can check the Daily each day. Take care all and I will try to do the same. I did the very best I could and look where I landed though. 😩

No no no no! Not my beloved sister catching COVID!! DAM. DAM!

And adding to your distress Buddy being back in the hospital. I'm so sorry.

Did you pack Mucinex DM? Cough spray? Advil and Tylenol?

Well my internet is up and down.. you are in my prayers!!!

2nd try at posting.

Jack, Have faith.  When Allen had his 1st stroke he was given a feeding tube. The first time the radiologist couldn't see the clear path (organ obstruction) and we waited for the 2nd day. Same thing. Pastor came to pray with us on day 3 when the radiologist called and said let's give one more try. It worked and we were in Acute Rehab the next day for a month. ( We weren't at home at the time. Christmas Eve, at our sister's in San Diego)

Oh no!.

I'm really sorry to hear you have tested positive Sandi.

Sending our prayers 🙏 that you recover quickly and your husband remains negative.

I sincerely hope you test negative and get out of quarantine at the earliest opportunity and you both can enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Pauline and I send you our love and hugs.

Graham x.

@StLouisCruisers Sandee sorry to here you got the virus. We were also frustrated how long it took for our quarantine room to become available until we later found out that no one can enter a cabin for four hours after it has been sprayed and treated. Order your meals early is what worked best for us on Hal.

I couldn’t hit the like button on your post. Hears to getting well and a quick negative test.

Good afternoon from a gray, very windy central Texas.  Today the high will be 97F with winds 20+mph, and tomorrow will cloudy, 98F with the winds 15-20mph.  The next time the high will dip below 100+F will be June 28.  I'm not looking forward to July and especially August, our normally hot months.

When we are in Arizona, our flags every day unless there is a high wind warning.  We do not have a flag or flagpole here though.

I haven't had bourbon in more than 50 years, and it's been more than 35 years since I've had a bath.  I much prefer showers.  I will celebrate bath day by celebrating Archimedes discovery while taking a bath.  I was a blood donor for a number of years, but it's been a long time since I donated.

The Mark Twain quote, like all his quotes, is very interesting.  The first part is very true, but I'm not sure how I feel about the second part.

We'll skip the drink and the meal.  The wine sounds interesting.

We have not been to today's port.  I would love to visit more of the south sea islands.

This morning I had to make a quick grocery run while beef and chicken were on sale.  Then, I had to hurry to get everything in the freezer and all the meat trays from the grocery store in the trash before it came.  I did not need all that stuff sitting the garbage can in this hear for a week.

@rafinmd  Roy, I hope all your happy memories of Roger ease the sadness of this day.

@kazu  Thank you for the pictures of your flowers.  I can enjoy them without all the work.  🤣

@dfish  Debbie, I hope the skunk was just passing through.  We have skunks in the area, but have not seen any in our neighborhood.

@smitty34877  Terry, your neighbor is a treasure with all he does for Tana.

@marshhawk  Ann, I hope the shot helps Bobagingee"s pain.

@Cat in my lap  Safe travels Thursday and enjoy DH's 50th reunion.

@Rowsby  Our condolences on Casey crossing the Rainbow Bridge.  I know he enjoyed 17 happy years with you.

@HAL Sailer  An interesting story about your first dirty martini.  That man was lucky you liked the drink.

@HAL4NOW  Thank you for the picture of Cannon Beach.  It's been a long time since we were there.

@ottahand7  Thanks for the pictures.  That deer definitely does not look pleased.

@durangoscots  Susan, I'm sorry workers at the shelter thrift store have covid.  I hope they are well soon.

@Horizon chaser 1957  Glad you and your DS made it safely to Kelowna.

@Lady Hudson  Good news that you tested negative.  I'm sorry your friend tested positive and won't be joining you.

@Seasick Sailor  Joy, your yard looks lovely.  Our grass is turning brown.  With this heat and the high winds, we can't water as the water would just evaporate or blow away.  Thankfully, we have Bermuda grass which just turns brown, but will green up again with water.

@Cruising-along  I'm glad DD and DGS are feeling better.  It must be hard on DGS to feel good, but have to stay confined to two rooms.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, we had our 50th reunion quite a few years ago.  It was a great time, but we all wondered who all these old people were.  Because of Covid, our 55th has been postponed, and we'll probably wait for the 60th.  Where did the time go?

@cunnorl  Safe travels to PA for your nephews wedding.
@Heartgrove  Jack, I hope your DB's PEG surgery can happen soon.  Glad you both were safe from the storm.

@StLouisCruisers  WOW, Sandi, I'm very sorry you tested positive, and I hope your DH remains negative.  It was good to know that there are quarantine cabins on the ship, but not good they had more cases than rooms.  The news about Buddy is disturbing.  I hope they can help him soon.

Lenda

@StLouisCruisers Sandi, So sorry to hear this news! Please take care of yourself and get better soon!

This miserable virus just wont go away, it is everywhere.   Not sure what the answer is. People are double vaxed and boosted and still getting it. Hopefully not as bad as without the vaccine.

Oh ugh on an obstructed OV in covid jail.  The delays in food sound awful.  Definitely order before you are hungry 😱

nurse this morning said I have to quarantine 6 days and today is Day 0. So Day 6 is next Monday, our stop at Alta, another new port for us. If they get their act together maybe I can “bust outa jail” in time to go off the ship for a visit. I don’t get tested until Monday again. Bummer!

that is a real bummer.  I still don’t get quarantine now.  If everyone is vaccinated and boosted then why not just require you to wear a mask to protect others?  I’m no doctor but I know what DH thought about it.  Those fully vaccinated should not get seriously ill so shouldn’t be a serious thing.

I’m so sorry you are a prisoner for so long 😞

We were on our way yesterday morning to see my brother when my DSIL text us that he was being moved to the hospital for the PEG surgery.  The gastro pharangeal tube that they had been using suddenly developed a leak at the port. It had leaked twice on him so they were discontinuing feeding him. It had been scheduled for Friday but needed to be done expeditiously. Now the latest is that may be postponed until tomorrow. ???

Oh dear for your poor brother.  I hope they can be expeditious on this 🙏🏻

I could use a few Ketel One Dirty Martinis. Extra olives, please.

Take it from one who knows - a few of those only helps for a few minutes and then it gets worse.  Nothing numbs the pain for this stuff as hard as we try 💔 I am so sorry you are going through so much all at once.  Too much grief and loss.  My prayers are with you 🙏🏻

@StLouisCruisersSandi, I'm so sorry to hear Buddy isn't doing well at all; hopefully the MRI will provide information the medical team needs to help him.    What a bummer, testing positive . . .and then being placed in an obstructed OV?  Well that's just adding insult to injury!  I'd certainly follow the advice others have provided by ordering food before you get really hungry, otherwise you could turn hangry!   I hope your symptoms continue to be mild and that your DH continues to test negative.

I said I'd post a couple of pics of yesterday's purchases - the basil bowl and the succulent bowl, which are enjoying the deck today.

And adding to your distress Buddy being back in the hospital. I'm so sorry.

Did you pack Mucinex DM? Cough spray? Advil and Tylenol?

Well my internet is up and down.. you are in my prayers!!!

Yes I have Extra Strength Tylenol but not supposed to take Advil due to a conflict with my prescribed anti inflammatory.  Also have Mucinex DM. I don’t have cough spray though. They will give me Robitussin if I want i

Sending our prayers 🙏 that you recover quickly and your husband remains negative.

Thanks for the hug. That helps!

@StLouisCruisers Sandee sorry to here you got the virus. We were also frustrated how long it took for our quarantine room to become available until we later found out that no one can enter a cabin for four hours after treatment. Order your meals early is what worked best for us on Hal.

I couldn’t hit the like button on your post. Hears to getting well and a quick negative test.

I used their Medallion app and ordered salad, pudding and wine. It was delivered 18 minutes later. That’s the way to go!

Sorry I’m having a heck of a time posting this. I’ll finish this up and come back later. Wine is waiting!😉

okay this was how far I got when the post wouldn’t go through. And my dinner was waiting!!

I got a call after I ate from a young woman working in our dining room, Bordeaux. She said she got out of Covid jail 3 days ago!  She asked what I wanted for breakfast then said she’d be calling me three times a day for orders. So looks like I’m set. But boy that app order worked out great tonight. However if I want something on the dinner menu it would have to be through her, not the app. But I could have chocolate chip cookies here in a snap if I wanted to. Oh boy, I’m in trouble!🙄

DH calls me constantly.  He’s not used to being by himself, poor dear. We’re just praying he’s NEGATIVE in the morning. Otherwise I guess we both will be here in the obstructed oceanview. Had to shut the curtains when I saw a man sweeping the floors of the tender just outside my window!😳

Anyway I see many messages from you all so my thanks to everyone for being so caring. It really feels like a family here doesn’t it?  Talk to you all tomorrow!  ❤️

I hope this goes through. I’ve tried and tried to copy it so I can paste it again later in case it disappears, but it just won’t copy!

edited to change positive to negative. You know what I meant. It’s that tiny glass of wine!!

Sorry to hear you're positive, Sandi.  One question.  How are your meals coming.  Getting any real dishes or utensils?  How's the food temperature?

Hope your symptoms stay mild.

I think my sister was watching out for Sue and I. If we had been able to visit my brother yesterday, we would have been caught on the road in the storm!

My brother is in surgery right now.
