Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Today promises to be a beautiful day with sunshine and temperatures in the 70’s.  I’m not sure about today’s meal suggestion so will wait for @dfish recipes and pictures.  Today’s drink sounds like a nice treat.  I hope everyone has a good day today and those traveling to meet a BHB have a safe and uneventful journey.

After a midnight and 3 am wake up call by Mona I’m left asking:

Good morning.  Thanks for the Fleet and Daily Report.

Another nice day for us, high of 21C (70F) but according to the weather forecasters, the last summery day for a while.  We'll enjoy the sunshine while we can.

Interesting days.

Love the quote.

Not sure about the meal, looking forward to seeing the recipe.

I'm sure the drink and wine are good.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Thank you for the report from Ottawa, Rich.  I hope you have progress on your laptop.  Ambivalent about the Mad Hatter but I like Come and Take  It, and definitely appreciate Physician's Assistants.  Also, I hope our Jewish Dailyites had the best possible Yom Kippur.  I've been to Shanghai a few times, most recently on the Amsterdam in 2017.  No idea what the meal is.  My alternative is Chilled Watermelon Gazpacho, Braised Lamb Shank, and Pineapple Crisp as served on MS Amsterdam October 6, 2017:

Thank you for taking the Report and Daily on location, Rich! Good luck with your laptop.  Roy, hope the rain has finally ended up there.

It is another lovely morning her. Ian sucked every ounce of moisture from our air. Unfortunately, the high tides are pushing the overflowing rivers, creeks and streams out onto streets and property. Still more evacuations in my County. These “super” high tides are supposed to end today. 🤞🏻

I have a bunch of errands to do today. And I foresee a long walk in Bindi’s future.

Halloween is coming, and one of my former colleagues sent me this. My neighborhood squirrels would love this!

I relate to this one totally….

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

Gini 2018 La Froscà (Soave Classico) Veneto

I am not certain if I have ever enjoyed a Soave. But I would like to taste this one. Might be a bit too sweet for my liking, but it sounds interesting. Excellent reviews from consumers and critics. Available from numerous online distributors with prices starting at $23.99.

Winemaker Notes

Straw yellow with green-gold reflections. On the nose, elegant and complex with mineral notes, acacia flowers, white peach and pear. Flavors are saline and spicy, with notes of flint, very mineral. Flavor of yellow apple, lemon, white peach, and almond.

Pair with pasta dishes, fish and poultry, cheese.

WE95 Wine Enthusiast

One of the iconic wines of the denomination, this gorgeous, polished white opens with enticing scents of yellow stone fruit, summer wildflowers and hay along with a whiff of wet slate. Elegantly structured, the delicious palate doles out ripe apricot, white peach and tangerine drop candy before a savory— almost salty—almond finish. While it’s wonderful now, it will continue to evolve and age beautifully for years. Drink through 2030.  Cellar Selection.

V91 Vinous
A vivid display of wet stone, kiwi, apricots and smoky minerals lifts up from the 2018 Soave Classico La Froscà. It’s silky and pliant upon entry, yet it quickly gains energetic thrust through a mix of zesty acids and salty minerals. The palate literally buzzes with residual tension, as a tart note of Granny Smith apple completes the expression perfectly. This is simply stunning today, and it’s worth cellaring over the medium term as well.

Good morning friends!  It was 45 this morning when we awoke.  Today is a treadmill at home day.  On my agenda later is a hair appointment mid afternoon.  Only news I have received since yesterday is a report on Linda from an email from another neighbor.  Next door neighbor says Linda is still hospitalized but improving.  She had many small bone fractures and there are too many to removed small pieces of bones.  Next door neighbor is a nurse and says those small fragments should dissolve and be absorbed by Linda's body.  I sure hope she's right!

Thanks Rich @richwmnfor posting the Daily while on vacation.  Hope you're enjoying your time in Ottawa!  Interesting group of days to celebrate.  I am thankful for my favorite PA and I will be seeing her next week, in fact.  I don't know what the menu suggestion is.  No thanks to the drink and wine.  I'm enjoying seeing the Volendam continue along on their journey to the U.S.

Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists.  Prayers are offered up for everyone on the Care list.  Also the Ukrainian people, all still suffering from Ian and Fiona as well as wildfires out west.  Have to include Linda, and hope I haven't missed anyone from here on the Daily.  I try to always include my great nephew and his wife in my prayers.  They are the ones who lost their twin sons by their premature birth June 4 of last year.  Same day my sister (great grandma to the babies) died.  The great nephew Alex and his wife are expecting anothr child in about a week and I am praying that they have no more heartache with a safe birth when the moment arrives.  A reason to rejoice!

I'm excited to see so many going cruising or already on one.  This Daily will be pretty quiet with so many away enjoying their cruises.   So cheers to you all!  Have a safe and happy cruise.

Port of the day is Shanghai, China.  It is the first time that port has been chosen on this thread.  Goodness, this is the 6th day in a row I can contribute photos.  Time to gather them!  Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! Just turning light and it’s 57 degrees with a forecasted high of 85. Pretty much tied to the house this morning as an lawn irrigation repair person is coming out to check our system. Think we need a new control box as  it has a mind of it’s own lately. I’m having to run the system manually but with our travels it needs to run properly on automatic. Tonight is small group bible study so I need a little more preparation for that.

With so many of our Daily cruisers headed for Canada we started longing for Maine or Canadian lobsters. So ordered two from Publix and we will pick up Sunday afternoon and enjoy these tasty crustaceans.

Will be interesting to see what the recipe of the day is. Thanks to all and have a great and meaningful day.

Good morning!    It is the last warm day we have here for a while with hard frost due here Friday night.  I think I will cover all the plant sale plants that I overwinter so that they get another 2 weeks or so to continue to grow roots to make it through the winter.  Today is a trip into town to preview a new stock broker.  My long time one in Baltimore retired and his successor doesn't care to take a license in Michigan so time to move our accounts.   At least I will get a morning of work outside before getting ready and heading to Kalamazoo.

Thanks for the Daily Reports and Fleet Report Rich, especially when on vacation!   An interesting group of days.  I do a lot of come and take it when I get too many Irises.   I see a PA for my primary care but have many MDs and a DO for all the other issues I have.    I like Biryani but probably better from a restaurant.     Drink sounds too sweet but @cat shepardthe wine sounds perfect.   I look forward to everyone's photos of Shanghai.     Prayers for all on our care list especially for those dealing with Ian and Fiona and for the people of Ukraine.   Happy travels to all of our friends on the road or at sea!   Have a great day!!

Good morning, everyone.

Another chilly start to what is supposed to be a lovely day.  I'll get out and do my laps around the block and then get serious about packing for the cruise.  The house is pretty well packed up except for what I am currently using.  I just hope I keep the house packing and trip packing separate.  I don't want to arrive in Quebec tomorrow with a bunch of kitchen utensils and no underwear.

We received word that our itinerary has changed and we are skipping Gaspe.  I'm disappointed, but have to fall back on the fact that I am on a BHB and very fortunate to be able to cruise at all.

Today's meal sounds delicious, but the rice is a no no for me.  Since the rice is such a staple to the dish, I don't know that substituting riced cauliflower would do it justice.

Biryani is a mixed rice dish originating among the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. It is made with Indian spices, rice, and usually some type of meat (chicken, beef, goat, lamb, prawn, fish) or in some cases without any meat, and sometimes, in addition, eggs and potatoes.

Biryani is one of the most popular dishes in South Asia, as well as among the diaspora from the region. Similar dishes are also prepared in other parts of the world such as in Iraq, Thailand, and Malaysia. Biryani is the single most-ordered dish on Indian online food ordering and delivery services.

There are many different types of Biryani, depending on the ingredients, seasonings, and region where it is found.

Lakhnavi or Awadhi biryani is mildly spiced, to be eaten with a gravy on the side

Kolkata biryani is all about the potatoes and eggs--and a hint of sweetness

Hyderabadi biryani is spicy and has the distinct flavour of saffron

Kerala biryani is rich in green herbs, golden onions, cashews, and ghee

You can read more about the different kinds here:  https://www.idiva.com/lifestyle/food/the-differences-between-indias-awadhi-calcutta-and-hyderabadi-biryanis/18003176

Here is our first recipe.  https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/hyderabadi-biryani-recipe/

1521980008_hyderabadi1.thumb.jpg.82dfe285ff2f8c912e2a7fc0c83d42ea.jpg

Looks good, doesn't it.  If rice wasn't such a no no for me I'd be at it with my fork and spoon.

When making biryani, the rice should not be sticky.  Each grain should be separate and scatter easily.  Use the best quality basmati rice you can find.  https://www.thedeliciouscrescent.com/easy-hyderabadi-chicken-biryani/

1685051189_Hyderabadi2.thumb.jpg.3c9b7c34f522eb32687e39bca3e32db2.jpg

Here is one last version.  It can be made with either mutton or chicken.  I'll take the chicken, please!   https://food.ndtv.com/recipe-hyderabadi-biryani-517349

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and safe travels for those who are traveling today.  The lovely Tina @0106 will be providing the meals of the day while I am cruising.  Many thanks to Tina.

Question for my daily report friends. We are leaving in a month on our next cruise and the airline called this morning and canceled our return flight. We are rescheduled with another one later in the afternoon so e have a bunch (8 hours) of idle time on our hands.

My question is, does anyone know if HAL still offers the express luggage deal where we don't see the luggage until we arrive at the airport?  I hope that makes sense as I have seen it offered, however, we have never needed to look into it before.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On April 26, 2010 we were on Diamond Princess on a Bangkok to Anchorage cruise.  We were with our friends from Myrtle Beach and they only do cruise line excursions.  So on this day we docked in Shanghai at their brand new cruise pier and were met with a huge celebration because Diamond Princess was the very first ship to dock there.  There were photographers and news cameras there to take photos of us filing down the gangway to our buses.  It was a murky day but that was probably pollution in the air.  Just sayin'!!

Our tour that day drove us out of Shanghai so I cannot give you great photos of the city.  Just things we passed on our way to our destination.  First we stopped at the Embroidery Institute of China.  Typical scenes from our bus.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIn6VJNrQvZ9B1mOXHFm9lXUnDnu4gHHWpfyYq5WwzmNg?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1616005991

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites!  Its a sunny 49 degrees, and we have a predication of getting as high as 81 today.  I get winter and summer in one day.  The computer flashed humid, once...we have not had rain here since 9/11.  Not one drop. It drizzled for half a minute last week.  All my potted plants died while we were gone.  It's so dry the bird bath dries up in a day.  And the worms have left the earth in search of water and died in the drive way.  I call this the Stone Mountain drought.  The weather man calls it a fire zone. High risk.

Working full time in a part time job is beginning to show the wear and tear on the house.  DH is still putting in a couple of hours a day still working on his brakes, and I realized that dinner tonight will be left over rice with Massaman (curry) gravy and half a can of green beans.  I need to shop.

I talked with my BFF last night about our HAL cruise, and he asked what hotel we were staying at before the cruise.  I narrowed it down to two locations, and then figured since we wont have a car, that the closer to places we could walk to would be better than depending on cabs, so I called to make reservations.  Yes, it was after 9, but I thought I would get someone, no,  I was told that we could text, but I would have to wait if I actually wanted to talk with someone.  So, I waited, and then got a recording that someone will call me back as the next agent became  available.  Sometime after 10 the phone rang, I listened to the music, finally someone picked up, and then ... hung up on me.  So that was a waste of an hour of my time.  I will try again today.  I would normally do this on line, IF it was just for 1 room, but I need two rooms, one with 2 people, and 1 with one person.  In the past when I have tried that  on line I end up with one room for three people, or two rooms for 3 people.  Once I do that I can make the reservation for the Butchart (sp) garden excursion and then I am done. Well, except for booking the hotel for the night that we disembark.

Thanks for our Thursday Daily, Rich.

And thank you @richwmnfor taking care of the Daily while you travel and prepare to board your BHB.  Hope you are enjoying your pre-cruise stay and travels 🤞

Great combination of days - especially Physician Assistant Day.  Absolutely love the quote by Sparks.   I resemble that remark (oops - quote).

A very dismal grey day here.  the remnants of Ian are blessing the Atlantic Provinces with rain.  We need more rain here and in the Fiona ravaged areas like we need a hole in head 😡 Of course, that meant bringing in all the bulbs that I have out to dry.

Starting to get a bit overwhelmed with everything to be done - especially DH’s former jobs. Some days it just seems like too much.  Oh well, I will adapt eventually, I hope.

Hopefully the weather improves tomorrow so I can get the planters finished - 6 left and I have help coming tomorrow to lift them 👍 as well as prep for winter - wrapping teak tables, bringing in some of the fencing and a bunch of other DH’s former jobs I have to take on.

@seagarsmokerwhat airline are you using?  Luggage forward is available on certain air lines.  There are some restrictions with how the time of your flight, I believe. I can’t use it but check every time.  The joys of being Canadian 😉

Too much on my plate today so pitter patter I better get at her.  Kind of glad I won’t be here for Hallowe’en.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list, those dealing with Ian & Fiona and  a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Thursday everyone !!!!
