Not the kind of news you want to wake up to. Our patron of the Daily taking a fall. Prayers Roy can get some medical attention and relief from his aches and pain.
It’s that time of year, especially our friends up North to be extra diligent when walking, especially when slippery conditions prevail. At many of our ages falls often lead to serious consequences.

With both of us nursing colds we have been procrastinating getting ready for our upcoming trip. Have bathing suit will travel. We do need to pack some seasonings as we do dine in several nights. Our Villa has a kitchen and we have use of outside gas grills.

It’s 36 F right now but clear and blue skies prevail. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for very heavy rains so it’s even more important to get going and get last minute task done today.

Again, prayers for our way to many Daily patrons that need them. Have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy.

Thanks for our Saturday Daily, Sandi 🙂

@StLouisCruisersso very kind of you to step in (and step up) to fill in for Roy.

Data privacy is a must and everyone should strive to have some fun at work.  I’ve seen my CC name spelled like the musical interest on more than one occasion 😉

LOL on the quote and yum on today’s meal - delicious with cheese sauce.  DH and I so enjoyed Buenos Aires.  That cruise was my first time to dabble in private tours and boy was I glad I did.  That night we attended an absolutely fabulous Tango show.  DH was a very happy camper.

Sorry to say that the elbow saga continues on. After going with less than three hours sleep for the second night in a row, I bit the bullet and called the Bone Clinic about the pain.  They told me they would call me back and when Christa called me back after questioning  me, told me to slap on a pair of shoes and get to the hospital within a half an hour to catch my ortho specialist.   It takes nearly that long to get there so she told me to skip registration & she would take care of the paperwork.  A tad panicked by that very unconventional offer, i started calling & fortunately a neighbour was available and willing to drop everything for me.

Long story short (it’s already too long) no infection but another pin is in an awkward spot and being pressed by the splint causing the excruciating pain.  They  re-positioned & re-wrapped it with a ton of padding for that spot and prescribed Tylenol #3 to help control the pain.  Hopefully next week the X-Rays are ok and good enough to put it in a cast and it can be re-positioned.  I am starting to feel like a fixture there 😞

@ger_77you are not alone in the JIC problem.  DH was a pro at JIC clothes & confess I had some on our Oosterdam cruise anticipating cool weather in spots touring 😉

Nothing to add here but prayers for Roy.  We all know that our Roy is a smart man and if a trip to the emergency at his local hospital is necessary he will do that.  Thinking of you, Roy.  Katherine

i don’t disagree with you on Roy being smart but when you are solo, you have no one to bounce things off of nor anyone to insist you get help.  At least for me, i am reticent to seek medical help worried i am bothering them for no reason.  If Jose were still here, I am sure once he heard the first scream, he would have been making me call (or calling himself) Thursday morning.

@Seasick Sailorglad to hear that you are ok. Whew 😰

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to all those celebrating.

Happy Saturday Morning Dailyites!

@rafinmd Dont wait to call that ambulance.!  If you feel bad, just do it.

Yesterday went well with the new doctor.  While I have a zillion (to me) things that they think I need to address, she is helping me with, you do this for me, we do this for you.    They want me to get a colonoscopy.    Ok, I'm old, I understand, but I dont have a lot of people I can ask to drive me to and from especially if they keep sending me to doctors on the far side of town, because with DH's limited eye sight, I dont ask him to drive me too far.  So she found me a clinic on my side of town.  And she found me an orthopedic doctor for the problem with my ring finger, which hasn't looked right since I fell.   She wrote the info down for me, put it on a sticky note, and we added it to my calendar, and I go back in three weeks to get blood tests done.  And then I guess we will have an annual physical.

The downside of the appointment was the information that was in my health file.  It was my husbands, and not mine.  My previous doctor was a real dweeb, and since he refused to treat me the last time I went in to see him, he just put DH's info in my file, so that it looked like he had seen me.  But when both the nurse and the doc asked me if I was still drinking?  I went over the edge.  I have been sober for more than 32 years now, and I told her that, and told her she had the wrong information in that file, and she said, really then when did you get sober?  November 1990. Oh. Since I do have a patient portal I did write her last night, told her how nice it was to meet her, and what had actually happened at my last appointment with her predecessor.

enough about me, the human...Feral Fawn slept all night on the porch, as the door was closed, and when I went to put food in to her, she tried escaping.  That did not happen, but the cat food went every where.  Bubbles slept on the chair right by the porch all night.  I should have put a blanket on him.

The computer says it's 35 and sunny, the roofs are covered with frost.

I am very worried about Roy.

Hugs to you all.

In agree with you Jacqui when we are alone we often delay what others would have encouraged us to do. It takes so much energy to do it on our own. At our age we don’t want things to go wrong because we take so long to heal.

Good morning everyone. Data privacy is so important but what a pain it is. I don’t work today but will try and have some fun.  I always thought kazoo’s were kind of funny. The meal suggestion and drink sound delicious.  I haven’t been to today’s port yet but am really enjoying the photos, thanks for sharing.  Oh my Roy, I hope that everything goes well today, you’re in my prayers as is @kazu , @Scrapnana and everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to all of you celebrating happy events today!

Good morning, everyone.

Thank you to @StLouisCruisers Sandi for getting us started this morning.  And, yes, we definitely need to put Roy on the Care list.  I always worry when I hear of people in my age group falling as it can be so dangerous.  I hope he is currently at emergency getting treated.

@smitty34877 What a gorgeous picture of Miss Camilla!  Getting in trouble is just what she should be doing at her age.

@Seasick Sailor Joy, you need to be careful as well.   It may only be a skinned knee this time, but @kazu is living proof as to what it could be!   Let's all be more careful, not just with data, but with ourselves.

The painting is all done except for the closet doors.  And, there isn't much to finish up there.  I'll have it done in a jiffy.  The room looks so much better!   I have new curtains ordered that should arrive on Monday so they will complete the look.

Today's meal is a great side dish.  I suppose you could add some sausage or ground beef or turkey to it to make it a complete meal.  How about some chopped chicken?    This dish is carb friendly for those of us watching the carbs.  I don't think it is calorie friendly though.   Our first recipe comes from Ree Drummond.  https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a11888/broccoli-cauliflower-casserole/

794930532_broccolicauliflowercasserole1.thumb.jpg.6ed172e944db8b7aafe1858aa8a5a390.jpg

That looks really good!  The next one adds bacon into the mix.  Bacon goes well in this dish, but then, bacon goes with almost everything.  https://www.eatwell101.com/loaded-cauliflower-broccoli-casserole-recipe

241259810_broccolicauliflowercasserole5.thumb.jpg.090823f0c08e0a9d12e68fda61a0f9d2.jpg

This next recipe roasts the vegetables first and also adds some garlic into it.  I thought of adding a dash of cayenne, just to give it a bit of a bite.   https://www.mamagourmand.com/broccoli-cauliflower-casserole/

687928029_broccolicauliflowercasserole3.thumb.jpg.39a7d63c1b1b54d35ac7db148254ce86.jpg

Here's one with directions for the air fryer.   They also suggested adding a little ham to increase the protein and make it a main dish.   https://twosleevers.com/broccoli-cauliflower-casserole/

Broccoli-Cauliflower-Casserole-1-900x900.thumb.png.0439fe5709ab081e3ed6ba5cb382cb32.png

Here's hoping that one of these strikes your fancy!    Wishing you all a wonderful day and special prayers for our injured and ailing Dailyites.  Cheers to those who are celebrating, especially @mamaofami Carol for fining her glasses.

Roy, we left right away for grocery shopping this morning and I missed your post.  I'm so sorry you had such a terrible night and so many problems just getting out of bed and dressed.  I hope you haven't done damage to your elbow, gotten a concussion, or something equally bad.  First time you feel up to it please let us know what they say at the hospital after you are checked over.  Can't be too careful anymore!🙏

have a great Saturday everyone !!!!!!

Jacqui, it's awful what you've been going through with your fall, surgery, and subsequent arm pain due to pin movement.  I really hope the X-rays next week don't show the pin pushing out again.  Prayers for you many times over.🙏🙏

Hugs back at you Annie!  Sorry to hear about the ridiculous mess-up at the doctor's office with your records.  I hope that doctor can get things straightened out and get you some relief.  And more hugs for taking care of your kitties so diligently.  You have a kind heart!🤗

Good morning all,

@rafinmdRoy, I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad night.  Hope that they can fix you up in the ER and you do not require a hospital stay.

@Seasick Sailor take it easy.

@kazu Sorry you are having so much trouble with the elbow.  Any news from HAL about covering the cost for this?

@StLouisCruisersSandi, thank you for stepping up to the plate and getting us going this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Take care and God Bless.

Prayers for everyone.

@StLouisCruisersYou are doing a great job today!  Thanks for filling in!

@dfishany recipe that includes bacon and cheese is fine with me.  Even when veggies are involved. They are just the conduit for the cheese.....

off to work until 8 tonight, will check in later to hear how Roy is doing.  I hope that he did call for an ambulance.

Thanks for the Daily Sandi. And all the luscious food ideas Debbie. After making 10,000+ dinners new ideas help!

Glad you are getting checked out Roy 🙏. We’ll be holding our breath until we hear you are getting the care you need.

Carol, what a relief finding your glasses. I can relate….  for me it’s usually my keys!

Jacqui, you are a lucky one to have such great responses from the clinic and neighbors!  Keep positive.  Focus on what’s good right now!  Positive thoughts supporting your healing. You can do this!

Thank you for all the pictures of South America!   Great memories and beautiful scenes. Nancy, hope you have a beautiful day to enjoy the Magellan Strait.

I fell in the house in November. Had that horrible cold/RSV? and was returning to bed with a protein shake in my hand. Got my foot caught and when I tried to right myself I launched face-first into the desk. My safety glasses saved my eye. The desk is a drop-leaf, fold-open style which broke under my fall and probably saved me more damage. My face had multiple lacerations, lots of blood but no serious damage. Thankfully DH was home, bundled me off to hours at the ER where they did head and neck scans, nothing broken!  Glued my face back together instead of stitches, works better!! It’s still healing. MY LESSONS:  Know where I’m putting my feet, and do one thing at a time…that’s the harder one for me!  Hadn’t fallen in over a decade, and now getting into late 60s and the age where falls cause more trauma. DH just turned 80 and we’re looking ahead to a different living arrangement, independent living in a higher attention community. Fewer things to worry about and people around to help, especially when alone. But right now, glad to be here in Maryland, out of the deep winters where we loved it for so long in the NM mountains. Friends told me last night they’ve had 79 inches so far!  Change happens, new chapters come. Life is good. Under a month to our next cruise, Caribbean on Rotterdam!!

Blessings to all in need of healing and hope, and to those celebrating milestones of life!

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily and to @StLouisCruisers Sandi for starting us up.

Data privacy is so important these days; I've been involved in several company data breaches and have credit monitoring. Now retired, but I sometimes had fun at work. I've never played a kazoo. Funny quote. The meal sounds good. Pass on the drink and yes to the wine.

I was in Buenos Aires on my SA/Antarctica cruise.

It's 42F and partly sunny here, so a nice day. It seems if it's not one thing, it's another with me. As I was going to bed early, when I looked in the mirror to put my bedtime eyedrops in, I noticed my right eye was completely red. I'd had a really big subconjunctival hemorrhage sometime earlier. No pain, but it looks awful. It's going to take a while to resolve, but looks a little better this AM. And so far my stomach is ok today.

@rafinmd Oh no on needing to go to the hospital! Prayers for your health. We are worried about you.

@grapau27 That's a hearty looking breakfast.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for starting us today, and your photos.

@mamaofami I'm glad you found your glasses; now you'll have a spare pair.

@Seasick Sailor Sorry to hear you fell also; be careful! I'm curious, what do you spray your suitcases with? I bought Permethrin once to use.

@kazu I'm glad you called the Bone Clinic about the pain; this is an unending saga at this point. I hope the stronger pain meds help for now.

@marshhawk Wow, your previous doctor was really unethical with putting DH's info in your file.

@smitty34877 Thanks for the photo of Miss Camilla!

Prayers for those in need (including Roy) and Cheers for those with something to Celebrate.

Good morning everyone.  Except it isn't!   So worried about Roy.  Thank you so much, Sandi, for filling in.  I know we're all concerned and saying prayers.

Miss Camilla is a bright spot, though, @smitty34877.  She's a doll -- has had those expressive eyes since the very beginning.  😍

Thanks for the delicious food and drink suggestions.  Sadly, I'll avoid all of it.  My closets are packed with three different sizes of clothing.  I'm determined to settle on the middle size by our next cruise.

DH and I have babysitting duties today.  DD and DSIL are doing volunteer work over at the golf tournament at Torrey Pines.  I'll be checking here throughout the day for updates about Roy.

And omg, @JazzyVjust posted about bad eye problems.  So many troubled Dailyites just now.  Saying prayers for all those having difficulties.  Let's lengthen the celebration list.

Happy Sunday morning! Today we crossed the international date line and join @erewhon and friends a day ahead of most of y'all.

Thanks @StLouisCruisersSandi for posting the daily, I hope @rafinmd Roy gets the attention he needs. FYI - the software I use to edit pictures is GIMP. It is free and easy (at least for me) to use.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

@grapau27 That's a hearty looking breakfast.

Vanessa, oh no on the eye problem last night.  Too many health problems, not just for you, but for all of us it seems.  Glad it's not as bad this morning and your tummy feels a little better, too.  Thanks for your beautiful pictures.

Rich, I'll have to talk to DH about that software.  I hope Roy will be back among us soon though. 🤞
