Thank you for today's daily reports.

It is sunny and 70°F here.

3 interesting days and true quote.

I will pass on the food and drink.

We have been to Copenhagen Denmark many times but not today's port.

We popped out for lunch.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy.

I reacll a thread about AARP gift card discount being reduced from 10% to 8%; it's old enough I thought Carnival would have also changed by now. Nope - Carnival is still at 10%; they cannot be used on HAL (or Princess, or...).

I appreciate the discount as it's better than no discount, but am frustrated by the inconsistent offerings - same family should either all be at the same discount or allow parent company cards to be used on any of its lines.

Quick math - discount on $2000 more than covers a 7-day Thermalpass; since I buy one every cruise, I think that's a good deal.

Good morning, everyone!

It is a chilly start to the day here on Golden Beach at 56F.  The high is projected to be 65F.  We're heading home today, probably this afternoon.  We're making a few stops along the way, so I expect to get home around dinner time.

@Vict0riann healing thoughts going your way for a totally successful procedure!

@kazu Sorry the chiropractor appointment didn't go better.  I hope the vascular surgeon can give you some relief.  The stenosis is why I am having nerve ablation done in July.

Today's meal sounds good, but I will pass due to the carb load.  I gave up pasta years ago.  This first one has a creamy garlic parmesan sauce and puts the spinach in the pasta to be covered with the sauce.   Creamy Spinach Pasta

spinachpasta1.thumb.jpg.735fe819892a118801fa2c043084be3a.jpg

This one uses a white wine sauce.   Spinach Pasta

spinachpasta2.thumb.jpg.4b50695914b31b037227c6dc5c751cc0.jpg

And this one adds tomatoes to the sauce for the spinach and pasta.   Spinach Pasta with Tomatoes

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Good Thursday morning to all.

it is good to be home.  I am sorry to say that as tired as i was last night, I had trouble sleeping. I think I was overtired.  I hope to take a nap this afternoon.  I have a hairdresser’s appointment at 4 pm so I will have to rest in the early afternoon.  Want to watch the debate tonight, not that it will change my mind.

Thank you Rich @richwmnfor the FR&D.  Thank you to Vanessa @JazzyVfor the Cares and Celebration List.  Thank you for including me and DH.  I hope you can take us off soon.  As for the ? Next to the biceps tear, it is definitely a tear and it is on the right arm.  By the way, I still have pain this morning, although it is not as severe.  I will be cancelling the remainder of my PT appointments, as per my Doc’s advice and just “taking it easy.”

I like the days.  I am married, and hope to stay that way.  It is not my birthday today, but happy birthday to anyone who is celebrating today.  And a shout out to Industrial Workers around the world.

Thank you to Debbie @dfish, Ann @cat shepard and Dixie @summer slopeI think I will skip the meal and the wine is above my budget.  Not sure about the drink.

I have been to Denmark, but only Skagen and Copenhagen.  Aarhus looks lovely and thank you to Sandi @StLouisCruisers for the photos. I hope your twin starts to feel better.  She may want to rethink PT until she sees the Doc.  It may be aggravating the situation.

Healing thoughts and prayers to Ann @Vict0riann as you undergo surgery today.  I hope everything goes well and you heal quickly.

Jacqui @kazu prayers for you that you may find out what is going on with your health issues.

Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes for my recent health problems.  I appreciate all of you.

Have a good day everyone and

God Bless,

Terri

We were in Arhus, today’s port of the day, last month while on the Zuiderdam.  We choose a tour outside the city that took us to Gammel Estrup Manor house, the oldest parts of which originated around 1490.  The Skeel family owned the house for over 600 years until it was sold in 1926.  Today the house is a museum.  As part of the tour, we had coffee/tea and a piece of cake that was made from a recipe written down by a housemaid in the early 1900’s.  We then went to Rosenholm Castle, which originated as a manor house.  A section of the house still serves as a part time residence for the owners.

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites!  Its 78 and cloudy.  However the weatherman said that the clouds will not help dissipate any of the heat, we are going back up to 100 today.  Slim chance of rain.  Last night after we left dinner at the cafeteria, VERY dark clouds were coming in from the west, but any chance of rain evaporated on the west side of Atlanta.

The last thing I heard before falling asleep was the sound of 16 little feet running down the hall, and then a crash.  DH gigled.

Today is a split shift day, working until 10 tonight. DH has a zoom meeting this morning with one of his doctors. This is his time to vent, and I steer clear.

But I am off tomorrow, and plan to spend the day investigating one of the museums that we have joined this year. There was a Dutch art exhibit at the High, not sure if it is still there, but I think,  since there is seating in the galleries, we will try there for tomorrow.  However, DH had a lot of coughing and nose blowing yesterday and if he is sick, we will not go any where.  It is a Formula 1 weekend after all. LOL.

Off to walk the dog.....

The quote, yes and no.  Sometimes technology erases spirituality, and I want more spirituality than technology in my life.

Several years ago I changed political affiliations, and politics are not spoken in this house.  Keeping the peace, so I wont be watching tonight.

We have been to Arhus twice, in 2003 on the Rotterdam VI and in 2005 on the Marco Polo.

In 2003, we did a tour to The Old Town, Den Gamle By, which is a living museum of life from 1864 to 1974.  After the tour, we wandered around town, and got a Danish pastry.  In 2005, we just walked around town and got a Danish pastry.  While many will get coffee, beer or wine, when we are in a port we usually get a pastry or gelato, and we've been known to get both.  🍦🍩

These pictures were taken at Den Gamle By.  In addition to walking around the site, you could go into most buildings, and watch people performing tasks from that time period.

The pictures of Aarhus were taken on both cruises.  I hope there are not too many almost duplicates.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I hope those who decide to be married today will have many years of happiness.  Happy Birthday - a friend of ours living in Japan celebrates his today.  Thanks to all the industrial workers; without you, we would be lacking so much in our lives.

Does anyone know how big a cubit is?  I think it's time to start building the ark, as today we're under a Severe Rainfall Warning and it's to continue through to tomorrow.  Last night DH and I went out and put the "shower caps" on the begonias, and I finally remembered to put the rain gauge out on the front lawn, but of course it didn't rain overnight.  Go figure.

@Vict0rianna sincere prayer going up for you and your medical team today.

@Mr. BostonI hope all goes smoothly for the pack up and move; sorry DH isn't feeling well.

@luvteachingsending hugs to you as you remember the day of your DH's passing.  Never an easy one.

@kazuhugging you, but not tightly, as that could cause pain.  Sorry you're experiencing so much pain and so little help for it.  I hope the vascular surgeon can provide relief.

@marshhawk congrats on your wonderful sale yesterday.  Your boss could take some lessons on etiquette and interpersonal skills.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of my retirement.  10 years ago today I signed off all my files, cleared out my desk, packed up my robe, and closed the door to my office for the last time.  DH was waiting outside with a limousine and a bottle of Dom Perignon to bring me home and to start my retirement in style.  Besides marrying DH, choosing to retire early has been my best decision ever.  I really can't believe how quickly the years have passed, and the many memories we've made in that time.

I'm going to write down the drink recipe (for taste testing on a BHB), would like the wine if someone else paid for it, and like @Quartzsite Cruiser, would probably make the 3rd recipe with tomatoes.  I didn't have anything specific planned for dinner which is good because friends we haven't seen in a very long time called last night to see if we wanted to join them tonight at a restaurant nearby.   Not sure what I'll be having, but will be in the company of good friends with good conversation and lots of laughs.  And wine.

BTW, we enjoy watching your debates, as they're always interesting.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Gerry

Good Thursday morning from north Jersey… todays mid- 80s is better than the mid-90s we’ve had.

I’ve been busy with life here, trying to catch up a bit, read yesterday’s posts.

Praying for Amazing for Ann @Vict0riann today and her care team. Keeping you close to heart!
And for Jacqui, Terry and Tana, Terri and Jim, Sandi and family, Karen on Phil’s anniversary day….

Annie, I’m sorry for your loss, it’s so hard seeing it coming, but when it happens it’s a whole new blow to your world. Be gentle with yourself. Good on your success, bad on your boss!
Pennie, healing thoughts to seal your incision!

We had DH’s son and his wife here a week. Wonderful they came! It’s a long drive…   Loved having them. These opportunities are cherished!  Glad they had lots of folks to visit in the region, glad they home-based with us!

We had very high winds Monday night which caused power problems… lost one phase of our complex’s 3-phase power supply. This caused many parts of our community to be on partial power; our apartment had some receptacles dead, others at 66 volts. We powered down everything that could be damaged by low voltage including HVAC and fridge, all electronics. Slept with open windows.  Elevators were spotty. Some back-up generators didn’t auto-start because the sporadic arcing up the line confused the sequence that starts the generators. But it all calmed down eventually during the night … I attended 3 community meetings Tuesday and Wednesday, saw the kids off yesterday way too early for their 13 hr drive back to NC… then had news of damage last night at bedtime from older granddaughter in Poughkeepsie NY that they had problems from last night’s storms… trees down… minor damage to their vehicles, severe damage to a rental trailer they have as temporary storage while they poured a new garage slab, and that their tree totaled a neighbor’s car. A mess. Power out, lines down on vehicles, police and rescue….  Today clean-up and insurance!  We offered to drive up there to help them but I think what they needed  most was moral support. We’ll see how the day unfolds… or unravels.

Yesterday the annual window washers came, great but we had to move our furniture and still some unpacked boxes for their access… they move it all back. Extra chores at a busy time!

Today I must compile and send out materials for my Maryland spiritual companioning group that I’m leading tomorrow, first attempt at doing that from afar. And I’m excited!!  I may have found a women’s sacred circle here in my new community!  I’ll join their July 22 gathering and see what it’s like. 🤞

Next week is eye doctor- have had no improvement in left eye pressures… DH will have a visual field test done and we’ll see what the damage status is. Probably will need eye drops again, hoping they can offer a new kind that he’s not allergic to?
I have a blood draw Monday and 6mo followup with pcp Friday; a holiday and a meeting scheduled with financial advisor to clean up accounts…. it’ll be a busy week ahead so I need to recover this weekend.

We decided not to buy 4th of July tickets for the harbor boat that views the NY presentation which sounded like the grandest way to see it!  But the boats go out about 7pm and one has to be in the parking garage by 2-3pm before the city officials cordon off the shore areas to traffic. So with no idea of how to cope with the time gap, we punted. Oh well.

Blessings for all the Dailyites go out every morning whether I’m posting or not!
Cheers for all celebrating 🥳

Smooth travels for all away!
Vanessa, many thanks for keeping us up!  Hope you’re feeling better.
ugh, no blue bubbles today ..

Condolences to my Canadian friends - we were pulling for Edmonton to bring the Stanley Cup back!  They made a valiant rebound!  We had to watch the final game on a cell phone during the power outage!

Thanks to all for being here! Hoping your day has some smiles!
Maureen

For the garden club, flower beds in our complex

hmmmm, not loading, maybe later….

Ms Crystal,

I like the alien cartoon. Many years ago when I had my first colonoscopy I had a similar experience. I was wheeled into the examination room with all types of medical devices. I looked at the doctor and asked, “Am I hear for a colonoscopy or have I been abducted by aliens and Y’all are going to do probing.” Well, that was the last thing I remember. I guess they wanted me out asap. Kinder like maybe how some of y’all might feel when I go off the deep end.

Good morning.  Our forecasted high is 73 today.  It was 54 when I got up at 6am.  We have a quiet day today, nothing on the schedule!  DGD had her last softball game last night, lot of improvement from all of the girls!

@kazusorry about the bad news from the chiropractor, hoping the surgeon next week can help you.

@Mr. Bostonsorry to hear DH is sick.  Good luck with your move.  I'm watching our neighbors move after 40 years...it's not a fun process!

@RMLincolnThe flowers are beautiful!  Sorry to hear about the storm damage by your DGD...

@luvteachingsending gentle hugs today...

Thanks for sharing all of the photos here, I travel through all of you!

have a great day, Karen

Thanks for the daily and fleet report.  I decided to be married x3 so I think I will pass on the day.  Maybe we can all celebrate our birthdays twice a year and I heartedly celebrate industrial workers as they make my life easier.  I halfway agree with the quote; I would love the meal and drink, the wine is too expensive and I have never been to Denmark........yet!  Cheers to Cabrillo!!

Thanks to all who voiced concerns about my incision.  If I name everyone, I am sure I will forget someone!!  I think I am getting better as I am taking it easy and I am convinced I dissolved the stitches by letting the shower go on my back.  So since being less active is on the agenda for a while (and yesterday my internet was out all day due to them "upgrading" the system), I accomplished a huge task - getting all my downloaded movies on one external hard drive and creating a list of what I have.  Oh my, it is 403 movies!!!  Some old (like Gone With the Wind) and some more recent.  Now I have to go and do the same with the tv programs.  I have a couple with all the seasons (like "24" and "ER") and some with just a couple of seasons.  I stopped torrenting once I got back to the States in 2016 so I couldn't download them, as torrenting is "illegal" in the States, though it is possible.  I plan on going out to dinner as I don't want to be around any tv/news tonight.

@Vict0riann Thinking of you on your surgery day and hope all goes without a hitch!

@luvteaching Hugs for you today.

@kazu I hope the MRI will show something that will give the docs a hint of a plan to deal with your pain.  It's crappy to have to wait.

@marshhawk Congrats on the sale and sorry you have to deal with idiot bosses!! (been there, done that!!)

@57redbird I completely understand what your surgeon means.  Mine told me this surgery will not fix my pain or numbness but should allow me to walk further than 1/4 mile without being absolutely miserable.  To fix the other problems, I need complete reconstruction of L4-S1 and he recommends waiting until I can't stand up straight.  Go figure!

Keep those pics of flowers coming!!  They are soooooo beautiful and I love seeing them.  No such think in my little yard!!  Everyone have a great day!!

Thanks but no thanks on deciding to be married today, and it's not my birthday. I learned a bit about the Industrial Workers of the World, the "Wobblies," in graduate school, the first time.

Pasta doesn't feel right for today. I might or might not like the cocktail. The grape varieties required in Valpolicella aren't grown here, so I'll nominate Swedish Hill's 2017 Cabernet Franc-Lemberger blend, $21.99. "This 50:50 blend combines the tannin structure and body of the Cabernet Franc with the rich berry fruits and black pepper of the Lemberger. The result is a round and rich dry red with a lovely finish."

Acupuncture this afternoon and blood donation right after.

I visited Aarhus/Århus in 2022 on the Voyager of the Seas when it was a replacement for Gothenburg. The few photos I have are similar to some already posted. We had a peculiar guide who was from Turkey. It is not unusual to have an expat guide for a tour in English but usually, in Europe, the expat is from the UK. Our Turkish guide seemed not to like Denmark very much.

Good morning from a soggy Pacific Northwest,

Thank you so much for all the hugs and thoughts for today. They are much appreciated. So far I'm doing ok. I'm sure there'll be tears at various times but that's normal. I had a great 46 years with DD DH and miss him but, as they say, life goes on and I'm a tough old broad1

@kazu Wishing you healing!!!

@Vict0riann Wishing you a successful surgery today

Yesterday was the pool and here at home. DS continues to work on getting the baseboards in and they are really making the house (mobile home) look nice. we've had this one for almost 40 years so "spiffing it up" is needed. I made gingersnaps and then the rain hit as I did a walk so finished up my walking in the house.

Today is lunch out at a favorite Mexican place. DD DH took me there for my first taste of Mexican food when I came down from Canada to meet his family (grandmother, brother, sisters). It was in 1976 and a small "Hole in the Wall" place. It's grown some but hasn't overgrown if you know what I mean. Today his brother as well as his sister and her husband are joining DS and myself for lunch. I may do an errand or two as well.

Take care!

Good morning. It's raining!!!!  Current temp is 67F. I am sure my lawn is happy!!! There are rumbles of thunder and this is supposed to continue on and off all day. Sounds good to me. I have the sprinklers turned off and after viewing last months water bill for the building, it is a good thing.

Little news or new from here. My best wishes to @Vict0riannand @kazu and anyone else having problems today. I have loved all of my visits to Denmark. So much to see and easy to see it.

Today I need to try to get to the store as the frig is beginning to look a bit bare. Will try to do that between rains. And dogs will need a longer walk if the weather permits. They do not like getting wet, particularly the Chihuahua. Timing will be everything.

Susan

I find it interesting how many are offering platitudes to the IWW.  I remember the strikes they used to organize at the industrial ports on the West Coast.  The union was organized in 1905 as a group of socialists, anarchists and Marxists with the goal of overturning the employing class.  Not an organization that I would celebrate.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

Good luck to those deciding to be married. Happy Birthday to those who celebrate today. Industrial workers are very important. Good quote. I like the meal and drink. Pass on the wine. I have not been to Arhus.

Thankfully no storms today. Many had big trees down and power outages; luckily I was fine. My stomach upset has settled, but now I'm afraid to eat, until I come back from PT, in case I stir something up.

@Vict0riann Prayers for you and your surgical team today.

@luvteaching Thinking of you on this difficult day. Hugs. Enjoy lunch out with your family.

@Mr. Boston Exciting that the movers have started. I'm sorry to hear that DH is sick.

@StLouisCruisers I'm glad you had good weather for your visit to South Queensferry. Good news about the twins and prayers for an uncomplicated birth. That's quite the wait for your twin to see the doctor; I'm surprised PT isn't too painful to do. Great photos from Aarhus.

@grapau27 Nice lunch.

@kazu Hugs. I hope the surgeon can help without an invasive procedure.

@Heartgrove That was a pricey repair; plumbing repairs have gotten so expensive lately.

@smitty34877 Your weather yesterday sounds like mine; I'm glad you're all safe. Also good to hear that Tana ate a small portion of the ziti.

@Sir PMP Thanks for the photo and poster.

@dfish Safe trip home.

@Cruzin Terri I hope you get a good nap, and more relief from the steroid injection.

@Mtn2Sea Excellent photos.

@marshhawk Yay for a day off tomorrow! Enjoy your free time and I hope DH is not sick.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos from Aarhus.

@ger_77 Congrats of 10 years of retirement. I retired early too, and don't regret it. Although that's when I started to have a lot of medical issues, so I probably would have retired early even if not planned. Enjoy your dinner out tonight.

@rafinmd Oh no on the possible data breach.

@RMLincoln It was nice that you had family visit. Oh my on your power issues and wow on all the damage at DGD's house from the storms. Good luck with your group tomorrow, doing it remotely. Prayers for DH and his eye issues. It sounds best not to get caught up in the big hubbub of NYC fireworks. I was once there for the Statue of Liberty rededicaiton in 1986, with millions of people, watching from the Liberty Park in NJ. Very nice flowers in the complex.

@Nickelpenny One would think even dissolvable sutures would hold up better; I had glue and let water run down my back with no ill effects. I'm glad you're taking it easy.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.
