  1. Good evening. Maybe I have a modicum of hope. Despite a bad night last night, and hobbling down the stairs this morning, I did the leaf blowing for several hours this afternoon. I mainly had only the old muscular back pain, and no bad leg pain. Then I came in and had a 2 hour nap in the recliner. Dare I hope that maybe the injection is finally doing something, and it just took a while to work (it will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I got the epidural)? It will be interesting to see how tonight's sleeping goes. This few hours without pain has been wonderful!

    @Cruzin Terri It's good to hear that Jim is doing better with his knee issue.

    @rafinmd I'm glad you're safely on the train. Now you can relax.

    @kochleffel Sorry the gala dinner wasn't up to par.

    @aliaschief I'm glad you're home safely.

  2. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    Cancer is something I hope research can one day conquer; in the meantime we need to do our screening tests. I'll hug one of my stuffed bears. Retinol (Vitamin A) seems to be all the rage for face serums. I like the quote. I'll take the meal, pass on the drink, and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Marmaris.

    Another nice day here. It was 61 this morning! Cloudy now, but some sun later. Same old same old for me. I don't know if I'll try any leaf blowing later.

    @StLouisCruisers Amen to those awful political ads ending, as well as the messages to my cellphone! So far my working diagnosis is nerve impingement due to narrowing of the space where it exits the spine, either due to bone spurs or disc herniation, both seen on a 2021 MRI. It will be interesting to see what the new MRI shows. Sorry to hear your dear neighbors will be moving. Thanks for the Marmaris photos; and that's a nice picture of the two of you. Great news about Scott!

    @Nickelpenny It will be interesting to see what your doctor tells you about the MRI, and hopefully has a path to get you feeling better.

    @seagarsmoker Enjoy Half Moon Cay.

    @aliaschief Safe travels home.

    @RMLincoln You've been really busy! Good that you had the grandkids to help. That is so good that DH's eye doctor approves of your NJ one.

    @rafinmd I hope the rest of the trip to FL is just as smooth.

    @ger_77 So sad about the two rescuers and little girl perishing. Going out on ice is always risky and usually it's tested to make sure it's thick enough.

    @ottahand7 Sorry to hear about that towman. Enjoy your dinner with friends. I don't know that I'll get any outside lights up this year.

    @smitty34877 I too wish things could move along faster. I was thinking maybe the Social Worker to help with any services I might need since I live alone? Or they have you fill out those surveys about your mood now; and of course due to chronic pain I do answer that I sometimes have down days. Who knows? I hope to get a callback today. If I try to work outside I guess I'll have to forward the house phone to my cellphone.

    @dfish The Ina recipe looks good.

    @cruising sister Prayers for your friend's DH.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Interesting about the Mary Celeste. The motorhome is gorgeous! I was thinking when I saw it, would you drive it? I don't think I could, except maybe just on straight highways.

    @1ANGELCAT Prayers for Lynda and Bill.

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those with something to Celebrate.

  4. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I'm not into basketball. I will salute ladies learning code and saxophones. Funny Barry quote. Maybe on the meal, but lots of carbs. Pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to  Pulau Komodo Island. An important day for Mexico.

    It's lovely here right now, 65 and sunny. But windy. I'd thought of blowing the leaves, but I'm in too much discomfort. I got about 4 hours of sleep. The pain usually eases an hour or so after I'm up, but not today. I went ahead to PT, fearing I couldn't do anything with the severe pain. I mainly used hot packs, then did some stretching exercises. I don't know what I can do to feel better, sigh. Just got a message that "my provider" wants me to talk to a social worker; I don't know what that's all about.

    @seagarsmoker Sorry about the subpar dinner and lack of activities. Lovely sunrise photos. Congrats on the 100 day medallions and attaining 4-star!

    @grapau27 Good news that your appointment went well.

    @rafinmd Safe travels.

    @smitty34877 Continued prayers for you and Tana.

    @ottahand7 I hope you can get that tooth taken care of soon. I caught the end of the Vikings game and was surprised to see Joshua Dobbs, who had been with the Steelers. I liked him and was sorry to see him go. He's very bright, with an aerospace engineering degree.

    @StLouisCruisers Thanks for showing us cute Elliott Rose! We needed that.

    @dfish River's comments are so sad; thank goodness she has you two.

    @ger_77 The dinner sounded wonderful; you have showed such kindness to your new Ukrainian friends.

    @Nickelpenny I do hope you can get to the bottom of the issue and get a game plan.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Enjoy the new motor home. Can you share a picture once you've got it?

    @Norseh2o You're living the life! Enjoy.

    Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

  6. I visited Kona in 1992 on a trip to Hawaii. I used to shoot slides back then, but scanned some into the PC. I was at the Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park.

    This  ‘place of refuge’  was a safe haven for those that broke the Kapu laws, which in old Hawaii were punishable by death. If you reached the Puʻuhonua, you would be pardoned by Kahuna and given a second chance at life.

  7. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

    I like football (Go Steelers!). I don't do Chinese takeout, but eat at Chinese restaurants with BFF sometimes. No red hair here. Good quote. I like the meal and wine. Pass on the drink. I have been to Kona.

    it's going to be a nice day. Unfortunately too early to get leaves to the curb, and the next 2 days are supposed to be windy. Well, another bad night. I woke up after about 2.5 hours of sleep, with pain. I sat up in bed to try to ease it. Still awake, about 3:30AM the power went out. I looked on an emergency services app I have and saw that a nearby transformer had blown. So I had to get up and put my CPAP on the backup battery. Power was restored about 5AM, so I didn't have to go downstairs to put the fridge on battery backup; the freezer and alarm system stay on backup all the time. Later, standing up to brush my teeth started the intense leg numbness and pain, causing me to hobble around. It's settled down a bit now. I'm going to attempt to go to the big box store, and will take a cane for some support, although the shopping cart will help hold me up. I really dislike not being able to do much.

    @Lady Hudson Bon Voyage!

    @grapau27 Thanks for the info on Guy Fawkes.

    @StLouisCruisers Congrats to Ren and his team for the win. Lovely Kona photos.

    @smitty34877 I was thinking about you all day yesterday. I'm sure all the kind remembrances by those who knew Lou was very touching and of some comfort. Hugs.

    @GTVCRUISER Thanks for the photos.

    @rafinmd Your meal is something I'd enjoy.

    @kazu Good job on getting all of the clothes together for donation. That is very kind of your guy to help out with getting rid of some things. I'm in the same situation with trying to get rid of heavier things, although luckily my haircut guy is interested in a lot of my woodworking tools.

    @aliaschief It sounds like a wonderful cruise.

    @dfish Aww, it sounds like River loves spending time with you and Sue.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Great photos as usual. Are you trading in your old motorhome?

  9. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I'd celebrate candy day with chocolate. Community service is important. We should all use common sense daily, but many don't. I like the quote. I like a good chicken pot pie, but have never made one. Pass on the drink and yes to the wine. I haven't been to Horta. 3 good days in history.

    It's partly sunny and going into the low 60's today. I took a muscle relaxant before going to bed. I had thought I slept better. Although I awakened multiple times due to pain, I didn't think I was awake as long. But my watch shows about 4 hours of sleep total; better than 2.5, but not great. And I had strange dreams, that I can't remember now. I'm back to a lot of pain and tingling when I stand. I'm trying to parcel and vacuum seal some meats I bought, and I have to sit down every 5 minutes or so.

    @smitty34877 Thinking of you and the family as you remember and celebrate your dear Lou.

    @seagarsmoker Enjoy St. Kitts. Sorry to hear of a passenger drowning in St. Lucia.

    @StLouisCruisers Good luck to Ren today. Thanks for the Horta photos.

    @kazu Oh no on Ivan getting out. I'm glad he knows where "home" is!

    @aliaschief A spa visit sounds nice; although I don't like when they try to sell you all kinds of products. Thanks for the info on the motion sickness device. I don't usually have that issue. Wow on that Galley buffet!

    @kochleffel Sorry about the itinerary changes, and the lackluster gala dinner.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Nice photos. Good job on getting those heavy batteries in place.

    @dfish I'm sure River felt very special. Thanks for the recipes.

    @Nickelpenny Love the meme.

    @travelnap Oh the picture that paints in my head! 😁

  11. Good evening.

    Thank you all for your concern and prayers. It means more than you know. After taking the muscle relaxant, and eating a bite, I managed to find a tolerable position in the recliner and napped on and off for about 3 hours. I sure needed that! The working diagnosis is a bulging disc plus nerve impingement from arthritis in the "facet", both seen on a 2021 MRI. So I have to have the MRI and some x-rays repeated, to see if it's worse. That's not until the beginning of December and I see the Neurosurgeon December 19. I suspect surgery will be the recommendation.

    @Seasick Sailor Your Christmas gifts sounds delicious. My DM was from GA and made something similar, mainly with collards and mustard greens.

    @Heartgrove I'm glad the phones are getting straightened out. I back up my phone to my PC, using iTunes rather than the cloud. I can just transfer all the info to a new phone. Although these days you can just put the phones next to each other and they do their magic and transfer stuff.

    @StLouisCruisers I'm glad you asked about the Kong, as I had no clue either.

    @Cruzin Terri I'm glad DH got looked at by Orthopedics UC and that there was no fracture. Also that they are treating him and will see him back to follow-up. Sounds like a good place you went to.

    @Vict0riann I'm sorry to hear about so many changes to your cruise itinerary.

    @cruising sister It's important DB's doctors identify the organism, so they can get him on the right IV antibiotics. Such good news about Murphy! She's been through so much; I hope she continues to progress.

    @dfish I don't have pain pills per se, just the muscle relaxant and the Gabapentin which may help nerve pain in the long run. I had tried a higher dose years ago, and had trouble with staggering. But I'd rather do that, if I can decrease the pain.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser I hope you get the motorhome's new batteries in without too much trouble.

    Time for dinner!

  12. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

    I'll salute Dominican independence. Does paying my copay at the doctor's office count? I have occasionally had a stout beer. Nice quote. Pass on the meal (fish), maybe on the drink and yes to the wine. I've never been to Liverpool. 2 good days in history.

    It's 56 and sunny now, the start of a few nice days. I don't know what to do with myself. I had the same almost 3 hours of sleep. After getting up I had the usual leg/back pain, but it didn't subside or wax and wane like it typically does. Driving hurts a lot, keeping my leg on the accelerator. I had my appointment with the Neurosurgery PA. I had to park a ways away, and it was agony walking to the office and just sitting there. So now I'm scheduled to get an MRI and lumbar spine x-rays. I'm increasing the Gabapentin again and ordered a muscle relaxant. I'll see the surgeon in mid-December. I'm to continue PT and working on losing some weight. I stopped in at PT to schedule and they felt sorry for me and put hot packs on my back and leg. I had planned to make a couple of other stops on the way home, but was just in too much pain. I finally got some relief sitting at my desk now.

    @seagarsmoker Cool to be visiting Dominica on their independence day! Thanks for the photos.

    @Heartgrove I hope you got your phones straightened out today.

    @StLouisCruisers Great photos from Liverpool.

    @grapau27 Thanks for the photos, and history of stout beer.

    @superoma I'm glad the surgery went well.

    @kazu Enjoy being at home; I await that this weekend.

    @aliaschief It sounds like you've had a lovely time on this cruise. Very nice sail away photos.

    @kochleffel I admire you trying to continue your course work while cruising. Nice photos. Sorry to hear of the missing ports.

    @dfish Early Happy Birthday to River!

    @ottahand7 Ouch! I hope you can get the tooth situation taken care of quickly.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Lovely photos of Liverpool.

    @Cruising-along Thanks for sharing your photos.

    Thanks JazzyV but RNB had to cancel the Eurodam cruise several months ago due to issues. We have rebooked a b2b on Celebrity, 12/3 to 12/17/23 in the Caribbean. Expect RNB to expose himself or something like that on the sailaway via PE cameras when he will be wearing a bright red shirt to cover his redneck!

    Thanks for letting me know. Are you doing the maiden voyage of the Celebrity Ascent?

    @aliaschief Nice photos!

    @Quartzsite Cruiser I'm not sure about insurance requirements, but I also suspect most patients want to try something non-surgical first, in hopes it works.

  15. @57redbird I'm sorry to hear your improvement was so short-lived.

    @Cruzin Terri I understand the position you're in. Hugs.

    @seagarsmoker I'm glad you had a good day in St. Lucia.

    @Quartzsite Cruiser Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the good responses to the epidural shots were so low. You get the impression that it can be a miracle treatment. But I'm sure they have to try non-surgical things first.

  16. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn.

    I will remember my DM on this All Souls Day. BFF occasionally will make me dinner, but not today. I'll delay planning my epitaph, although I do want to make arrangements in advance, one of these days. Good quote. I'll pass on the meal. I like the drink, which can put you on your rear quickly if slurped too quickly. Yes to the wine also. I have not been to Kochi City. An important day for Indonesia.

    We almost broke the record for low temp (25F) on this date. It was 26 this AM and is going up to 46F. At least it's sunny. And 60's for the weekend. Same old issues with sleep; I got about 3.5 hours. At least I managed a 1 hour nap yesterday afternoon, in the recliner. I saw the PMR (rehab) doctor today, as a follow-up. I'm going to increase my Gabapentin by 1 capsule a day to try to help the nerve pain. Also she sang the praises of the Neurosurgeon, whose PA I'll see tomorrow. And she filled out paperwork for a handicapped placard for my car, but I read it takes 6-8 weeks to get it.

    @grapau27 Thinking of you and Pauline on this 12th memory of your dear mam.

    @StLouisCruisers Thanks for posting the drink recipe today. Sorry you didn't sleep well either.

    @kazu Enjoy your lunch with your BFF. Ivan is a lucky dog to have ended up with someone as caring as you.

    @Heartgrove It doesn't sound right that it would take that long to transfer data from the old phones to the new. And transferring stuff to the wrong phones! Oy!

    @aliaschief That meal looks delicious.

    @cat shepard I hope your electrical work passes with flying colors.

    @Seasick Sailor I'm sorry to hear of your sleepless night. Enjoy girls' game night.

    @Vict0riann Sorry you missed Cartegena. I stopped there once, and unfortunately my knee was so bad I couldn't do any walking. I just got off the ship to say I'd been there, and got back on.

    @smitty34877 I'm so glad you have heat. The thermocouple on my boiler tends to go bad every few years. Your soup sounds good. It's great that DD and DS have done the organizing for Lou's remembrance; hugs to you all.

    @Nickelpenny I do hope you get some answers before your cruise.

    @ger_77 I'm glad DH got a good report from the Cardiologist, and the ok to cruise.

    @bennybear Great Kochi photos.

    @Sharon in AZ Enjoy your time with the ladies group, and then Craig.

    @Cruzin Terri Sorry to hear about Jim's knee. It would be good to at least get an x-ray, if he'd go. That way maybe no surprises on your cruise. I'm glad you're sleeping better.

    @cruising sister Thanks for sharing the good news about Murphy! I'm so glad to hear it. And also that DB is feeling better. And best to you for your surgery.

    Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.
