End of an era- no more Hot Glass Show

I got excited when I saw the subject- thought the Lawn Club Grill was coming to Solstice. What a shame it isn't. I have seen the show and it was interesting but I really only needed to see it once. Each to their own but I thought it was a waste of valuable space. Now if you have to pay to go there, I'll be avoiding the area entirely- and go straight to the sunset bar instead :D

Agree. Never seen it nor been interested.

I would rather sit on the lawn and listen to a concert. I believe it would be a great venue for a concert at sea. Jazz on the lawn? String quartet? Classic Guitar? On a sunny afternoon I imagine that would make an exceptional venue for music.

We know that not going to happen

On our last cruise on the Conny, they only had someone playing at sunset bar twice on a 14 night cruise

Remember when they had the cappella groups on the cruise

They were a big hit and they are gone

They already do it on S class ships.

I'll miss it. There was a good audience for the shows I attended last November. I was with a friend who lives near the museum, and she was amazed at how much better the ship shows were. Unique, interesting, artistic. Not a waste of space, imo...for me, the casino is. Too bad the opportunity for alternate activities has been reduced, again.

Someone on Equinox now posted a daily that seemed to say the hot glass show was only temporarily closed and would be back soon. So, there is hope for coming cruises.

According to the OP that's correct. The OP said "the venue is being renovated as we speak (the last show was the second to last day of our cruise). The three artists and their manager wouldn't say what was happening with the venue exactly, other than Celebrity is keeping the glass blowing equipment on board for an interactive guest experience with a different vendor (not Corning). He did say that it would be a paid experience, which did not fit with the museum's mission".

Oh, that is a shame. I wasn't at all attracted to the idea pre cruise but found I loved the show on Eclipse last summer, it ended up being a real highlight of our trip (along with the lounge duo Gilly & the Girl. And the great itinerary. And the speciality restaurants... :-))

Agree!! Gilly & the Girl were on our Eclipse cruise this past November and we thought they were wonderful, especially their tribute to the Eagles. Would love to see them on the Equinox in May.

A friend has pointed this post out to me.

Gutted is an understatement.

I love the glass shows and can say I have been to nearly every one single one on every cruise on an S class we have done that has the show, sometimes twice a day.

It is unique and interesting, with great talent from the blowers.

We were looking at an Equinox cruise in 2019 but already looking elsewhere as the show as it is, will be gone.

We have Eclipse booked in April, booked two years ago and I was already planning to see all the shows again.

So far there is nothing to state when whatever’s is happening it being done but will be very unhappy if it is gone by the time we sail.

When people say they don’t seen the attraction, each to their own but I could say the same about the casino, holds no interest to us but a money spinner for Celebrity.

I have no idea how people sit for hours wasting money in a machine.

And to those that say you never see the finished project, you do, every day. It may be you have to wait till the next day but every piece made it put out for you to see and you can just go and wander past.

We are lucky enough to own three pieces from the auctions and I looked forward to adding to my collection but it seems that may not be the case anymore.

Sounds like I’m going to be very disappointed and as I told my friend, getting rid will cost Celebrity more as if I’m not sitting watching the glass show for 2-4 hours daily, I’ll be at the bar making full use of my ‘free’ drinks package now and for what we paid two years ago when we booked it was a steal!

I hope Celebrity is listening but I doubt it very much!

People suggesting string quartets and jazz ensembles in place of the Hot Glass Show - Celebrity supposedly want to attract a much younger crowd so I expect that string quartets and jazz ensembles will not be taking its place.

It would make a nicer show if they enclosed the area to make it dark or darker and put in some comfortable theater seating with good viewing for all. Doing that I am sure that those that do enjoy the show would be willing to pay a fee for admission.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I think some of the reasons why opinions vary here is, for us, we fo things on a cruise that we don't do at home. Can go to a steak house anywhere. Can drink booze anywhere. The glass show was unique and let =X= stand out.

Unfortunately, Celebrity is now mid-mainstream cruise line, at best. And somehow, that is sad.

Hopefully it will be replaced with the Lawn Club Grill like on Silhouette and Reflection. Once you have seen the Corning show, it gets repetitive and it has been on three S Class ships for about ten years. Time for something different.

I’ve looked at Viking, and I’d need to spend much more than “a little extra” to book one of their cruises, but I’m glad you had such a wonderful experience:) How was the quality of the included wines?

I thought the wines/beers offered, at no charge, during every lunch and dinner were very good. However, I'm no expert at either one.

It will be another venue for the DJs to blast out rap and techno at unhealthy levels.

Would prefer some danceable music for the crowd they have been trying to attract. Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba to mention a few!

That sounds more like the danceable music for the parents of the demographic they are trying to attract!
