Question for the ladies....

Going on my first cruise ever in 20 days...and I have a couple questions...

Ladies....

How many swimsuits do you take? We love to swim, so I’m sure we will be near the pool or at the beach on almost all our stops. Right now I have 2 swimsuits, but was thinking of getting one more.

How many “nice outfits” do you take? I know you don’t have to dress up, but we booked 3 specialty dining nights, and I think I want to dress up for those.

thanks!

I take 2 swimsuits so I have a dry one every day. Wear one and leave the other hanging to dry. As far as how many dress outfits to take, really just depends on how much room you have in your luggage. 3 isn’t unreasonable. I usually take 1-2 dresses and a pair of slacks with a variety of tops to mix and match and the slacks or jeans depending how much dressy I feel like going.

I bring 3 bathing suits for sunning in a lounger, Port/beach days and hanging on our balcony.

I like to bring a long black skirt to wear with a nice tunic and dressy scarf.

A pair of Capri pants with a nice sleeveless blouse and a light sweater.

These are for MDR or steakhouse dinners.

mixing and matching is key

Enjoy your cruise

three that I can interchange.   I have solid white, solid blue and then one w/ a pattern.  I can interchange the pieces and cover the whole week!

Dresses

 - three as well.  We'll dress up for dinner, then go back to the room to change.

There is no worse feeling to me than putting on a wet bathing suit, especially with a/c.

Yes, for sure!! I take 2-3 swimsuits depending on the itinerary and who I'm cruising with (i.e. am I more likely to be lounging and reading a book, or in the water a lot with my 4 year old).

My most recent cruise was in June and only 4 days (the 5th was debarkation). I brought 3 swim suits. I have found it takes FOREVER for them to dry in the bathroom. I brought one black jumpsuit (rayon) and two dresses. I bring things that don't wrinkle and I "roll" the things I pack....

After swimming, rinse off under the shower...use your towel to "blot" your suit, then sit in the sun until it's almost dry.  No need rinse again when you get back to the cabin.  Drape the swimsuit over a hanger and hang it from the air vent in the cabin.  It will be dry by morning.

Two swimsuits if we are planning a lot of time in the water or spa. My clothing is a "are you kidding me, why do you bring all of that" story.

Two things, me too, I wayyy over pack. second, I love your name, lol. I am an avid reader. I teach Social Studies, so pretty much all non fiction

I bring 2 bathing suit tops and 3 bottoms that I can mix and match.  I bring several casual dresses that can be worn ashore, as a cover up, or to dinner.  I bring some athletic wear and a couple pair of flowing pants that give me room to grow :classic_biggrin:.  I always bring one more outfit than I actually need so I can have options.  Shoes:  silver sandals, black sandals, sneakers, flip flops for the pool.  Have a fabulous time on your first cruise!

So glad I'm not the only one who packs 5 swimsuits. Not necessary, but why not?!  I do like rotating so I have a dry one to wear and usually don't wear ones that have been cursed with sand at the beach to the pool. 2 formal dresses and sundresses for the rest of the trip.  I know I over pack and push the  bag weight limits at the airport!

Beware of what the salt water pools do to your swimwear - hot tubs over time are not user friendly either.

So much for that elasticity/spandex/lycra  when it is cooked at temperatures that are not reached in fresh water.

Other than that enjoy the water - too bad NCL does not offer an excursion water skiing in the wake of the ship.

I am packing for my Caribbean Christmas cruise. I will bring 3 swimsuits as I plan to buy the thermal suite pass. I wear a dress to dinner almost every night so I'll easily have 5 dresses with me. They are generally simple one pieces that I wash and hang at home; easy for cruising too. A shrug/sweater/jacket/wrap for a chilly restaurant. Make sure you have something casual and comfortable for just hanging out. I tend to have drawstring sweats and a long sleeve t-shirt or light hoodie. Chilling on the deck at night can be amazing, but might leave a chill or you may just want a little protection from the wind. I can easily where 3-4 outfits in a day (workout, excursion, dinner, late night comfy in casino or just chilling in a lounge).

My struggle with shoes: sandals/heels, flats, running, court, flip flops, lol.

Better get back to packing.
