How many cruises were you on before you discovered these boards?

I discovered cruisecritic between our second and third cruises. (I don't remember how I discovered it.)

I joined the roll call for our third cruise, and there was only one other poster. She invited us to dinner and to see her cabin which was an owner's suite.

A friend mentioned it when we were investigating our first cruise - what a difference that made!  We’ve recommended it to every pal we’ve spoken to who mentioned cruising thereafter.

Before I took my first cruise.  I am a "due diligence" kind of person.  I was researching and researching and came across CC.  Back then, a Travel Agent could "advertise" in a way on CC.  One was nice to answer a bunch of my questions and I ended up using him to book.

Since we started in mid-1970's, it was > 20 years before CC even launched. Was aware of it in early 2000's, but didn't join until 2014, so about 40 years of cruising before joining.🙂

I stumbled upon CC by accident in 2010 while looking up the port of Grand Turk before our 4th cruise (the cruise prior was in 2006).  I knew Grand Turk was one of our ports but didn't know much about it.  CC has been a world of information and we've been able to get so much more out of our cruises.  Love the Ports of Call section for ideas of things to see and do, other than tours through the cruise lines.

We were about five years into cruising, when we discovered CC -- thanks to cruising buddies, who we met on Jewel of the Seas. 😎 And, truth be told -- I 'lurked' here for a long time, before signing-on!😳

(BTW -- good thread! I don't think that I've ever seen this particular question asked on the CC boards, before.)

8 cruises, but the first 4 were back in the early 70s before internet or CC.  I had belonged to another cruise forum, much smaller, and I had heard CC mentioned, even looked in on it a couple of times, but it was at least a year before I joined and started using it.  EM

Between cruises and TA's since the 60's when I was a kid and traveling with my parents,  long before the internet let alone CC,  probably somewhere over 40.

Three, and were preparing for our fourth.

Oh, if only we'd found it before our first- my OH wasted many snorkelling hours because we thought we had to eat all our meals in the MDR, and the buffet was for "Freedom" diners... he was itching to go ashore on a morning, and hated having to rush through changing for the early sitting in the evening. Once we'd discovered the buffet, it was a quick bowl of porridge and he was off!

Thanks, I try, and hopefully every now and again I am successful.
