Celebrity Shampoo is body wash...in a different bottle

Celebrity now has its own branded toiletries in little black plastic bottles...the usual shampoo, body wash, etc.  I’ve been using their shampoo even though it creates very little lather and then only after using a lot of it.  I then realized it seemed like body wash....you know, the ships that have one big dispenser bottle with combined body wash/shampoo in it.  Celebrity, however wouldn’t do that...they have both body wash and shampoo....right....modern luxury.

So I looked at the ingredients....see any similarity?

Basic Shampoo and basic body wash are the same though.  That has always been the case.  Obviously you can get more refined shampoos for different types of hair, and more refined body washes according to taste.  But the basic ingredients in both shampoo and body wash will always be the same.

The blue tubes were OK for a quick wash but my hair feels sticky using the new stuff in the black bottle. The body wash is OK I guess, but we still used the beautiful soap in both the shower and basin.

I thought this was widely known that Celebrity’s product was the same. I always interchange body wash and shampoo unless of course there is a specialist product perhaps for a skin condition etc.

On the revolutionized ships you get extra large pump bottles of each. They fill the rack in the shower leaving no room for bar soap, or any product you might bring with you.

We removed the shampoo and conditioner to make way for our products and put them next to the oh so tasty sparkling wine.

On Equinox we had a wire rack below the pump bottles for our own items.  I believe the bathrooms weren't revolutionized, though, so maybe that's why the additional space was there.  I was glad, as I never use cruise ship or hotel shampoo or conditioner.

Was this really worth the time it took you to photo and post?  Please forget the picky, picky things.

My question is... I lately find RCI stuff not usable even though I am not that picky. I always bring my own shampoo for their cruises. I remember from our last cruises with X in 2015 and 2016 their products were better quality. Is it still the case?

I am in regular cabin, not a suite.

People frequently ask about the shampoo on board, so for many, this would be helpful.

Yes -- thank you (and the OP)!  For those of us who have to fly to cruise ports, this IS important. IMHO, the toiletries that both Royal and X have switched to recently, are VERY sub-standard. I don't expect Bulgari, but I do need something that will actually lather. This new stuff looks, acts, and smells like toxic waste (almost couldn't get the conditioner rinsed out of my hair). Now I have to add body wash, shampoo, and conditioner to my list of things to pack and bring on the airplane -- great!🙄

I have to have no other choice before I use the provided shampoo and conditioner in any hotel or ship, I don't care what it is. Basic shampoo is little different than body wash- I reserve it's use for washing my lingerie in the sink. These silver tresses only get what I know works well for them, and that is what I bring from home. And that's one of the main  reasons I always check luggage at the airport.

I actually liked the lemon scented stuff they stopped using about 4 years ago, I can’t remember what it was called

That was the lemongrass  product line...great for fending off mosquitos.  Not a nice scent for me but everyone has diff opinions.

We liked the stuff before that and def enjoyed the new CO Bigelow we had in AQ. Class on EDGE..For certain, we are  not getting that on Summit in a reg balc   cabin...we use that at our vac  home.

I always bring my own hair products ( safe for keritin treated hair) but loved the CO Bigelow body cream.

Not sure of your location but our Target has a huge section of travel sized products.  I always visit this section before cruising...mini can of lysol spray, deodorant, tooth paste, shampoo/conditioner, body wash....all a must. I usually leave the body wash, shampoo/conditioner behind in the cabin when we disembark.

Yes -- and thanks -- I do hit the stores for travel-sized toiletries. Just don't want to pack anymore than I have to. I've always loved X's toiletries -- both in the suites, and regular cabins.  We did a Royal/X b2b earlier this year -- right around the time both lines started stocking this particular brand of shampoo, etc. They are in different packaging, but when you read the fine print, they are from the same supplier -- and equally AWFUL!😣
