Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

We got some crazy mail this morning.    A bill from T-Mobile arrived in Eric's name for leasing 3 I-phone 12's as well as unlimited phone / text and highest data plan they had along with international calling.       FRAUD!    We don't have anything T-Mobile.

I immediately called T-Mobile (45 minute wait) and explained the situation and don't you know the dummy CSR asked me for the pin or security code for the account after I had explained this was fraud and we did not set up this account nor purchase/lease anything from T-Mobile.

Apparently someone in Western PA (near Pittsburgh) got all the phones and service.   No idea how they got Eric's information yet.   Their fraud department is investigating and has suspended service to all three phone lines (I tried to call each of them from my work VPN - so they didn't scam my number).

Next we are going to check both of our credit reports and see what shows up there.

What a mess!

she put me on hold for quite awhile and

LOL I never seem to win any argument.

DH would say that sounds familiar. He spent his childhood vacations in a pop-up tent trailer with his parents & two siblings. He’s tried several times to sway me to try it but camping’s not for me. It’s not an argument he’s going to win.
We do love a road trip so I can see the appeal, but any vacation for me means hotels and no cooking or cleaning.  And cruising of course!

Had the fun of putting this itinerary and pricing together for someone today. thought i'd share https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s3ZN9T45fQVzwzNVdPwY2JbjWzlolCYBps8fPmlVZsA/edit?usp=sharing

Looks fabulous. Great pictures.  The "Glenfinnan Viaduct"  looks familiar, like I've seen it in a movie recently (Harry Potter? Jame Bond?) . And at first glance, I thought the sign said the Winterfell castle was for sale. 🙃

Sorry to hear this.

We seem to have had a lot of phone and text scams recently in the UK.

Scary.

Even crazier we received a phone call this afternoon from TD bank fraud prevention dept asking if we applied for Samsung financing program.     Immediately told them NO!    we do not have any accounts with TD Bank nor are we financing anything with Samsung.      the rep at TD said they had Eric's full name, address, SSN and DOB, the only thing that triggered possible fraud was the ship to address for the samsung products (they didn't expand on what was ordered but hinted towards some appliances).   So we just spent the last hour freezing our credit with all 3 bureaus and found 2 other inquiries made by other lenders were made last week.     On the list to call them next.

No idea where his info leaked from but hopefully the credit freeze will put a stop to it.

and we use a VPN whenever online.

This is worrying but fortunately you have been made aware and can take steps to stop it.

I would change all your passwords too and do not save any on your phone or laptop.

So, a couple of exciting announcement today regarding the imminent return to cruising an our little part of the world. What I thought would have been a lot of joyful postings quickly devolved into the usual silliness re: masks, vaccines, CDC, etc, etc, blah, blah, yada, yada.

I know things here won't change overnight and it'll take awhile to readjust their thinking  but I'm really hoping this is not what the post-pandemic CC will look like.

yes, you are absolutely right, time to change all passwords next.    We do that about every 30 or 60 days but definitely need to do it now.      I never save them on phone or laptop

Yes, the news of RCL Adventure OTS sailing of Nassau Bahamas starting June 12 and Celebrity sailing out of St Maarten is Great News!

Like you said there are the ones that have to blast away everything and anything, no matter what it is.   I try my best to ignore them.

I think we are going to hear more announcements of them sailing out of other islands in the near future as well as some updates on Europe sailings for this summer/fall.

It’s been a day here.  Traded in DH’s truck for a new one. Sold his Audi. Sunday is my birthday, so kids sent us makings fir Cubano sandwiches from Versailles in Miami via Goldbelly, saying “ if you can’t travel right now, we thought we’d send you some of your favorite food”.

LOL...so much for state and national park sites!  😉

Big boy toy!!  😄   We have seen many of those...and indeed, like this one, you have to really plan your trip well.  Thing does not fit in just any gas station.  😮

You got that right. The one I showed was bought buy a guy near Tampa. Two fuel stops to get to Houston Texas. They can haul 4 cars in this, 2 on the bottom and 2 stacked on top. They said it was better than their old RV for towing with a smaller trailer which only stacked two cars in that trailer.

You definitely are not going to national parks with this outfit.

For a while I think, but hopefully not forever.  Our little quiet piece of the world right here will still exist.

Ahh...but it's easier to do smaller bathrooms by yourself.  Yours was a large job I wouldn't want to take on!  Indeed yours came out beautiful...even if it was contracted out.  🙂

One of the biggest reasons we try to do most remodel projects ourselves is Bucky the perfectionist.  OMG...he picks everything apart when someone else does the work.  And sadly he is right on most of it, as they say "You just can't get good help these days".  And I think it has gotten worse with so many people remodeling, versus traveling.  So many reasons materials are being held up, and taking so long to get to us.

But you are right, we do have more options when we do it ourselves.  Plus a great sense of accomplishment...but mostly...so I don't have to hear Bucky complain!!  Uggh! 😳

My pet peeve are things that aren't level and even. I know I drove every contractors crazy by constantly coming in with my own level and then having them correct anything was uneven.

Gorgeous!    I love rain showers too!

Thanks. We had one on RC and I hated it because it felt like I was drowning. I was talked into this one so I hope that I like it. We get to use it tonight for the first time.

My rig 🙂

I like your set up. We never towed regularly enough to warrant diesel or a deulie.  We had a crew cab long box then.  We now have the crew cab and 6’ box.

When you had the aluminum 26’ cattle trailer we had lots of weight when full. When we pulled the triple axel 38’ deck over it got long but very manageable.  That trailer had a receiver in it and one day we hooked two 30’ 3 axel hay wagons to it and pulled it to the field to collect bales. It was like a Aussie land train. It was a straight run but hilarious hot see going down the road a few kms. We unhooked once we got to the field.

We only used the 5th wheel, a 21,000lb one. We had to CVOR (commercial vehicle operators registration) our truck every year for weight limitations and annually safety inspect all our trailers and truck. Our yearly plate sticker was almost $600 for our weight classification.  Also needed a certified license to drive it. Glad that part is now done with the operation.

We had a very busy work week and I couldn't get to it on St Patty's day but today I am going to make a 6 pound corned beef with cabbage and some mashed potatoes.  Yumm!

Bit windy and chilly in the 30s today so that should warm us up.

Dinner was delicious, just what we needed after spending the afternoon doing everything we could to prevent further fraud happening to Eric and making sure everything is protected as best as we could.

Decided it was time for something stronger than wine, made a pitcher of mojitos.  Happy I could fine fresh mint leaves at local produce store.

Any food porn? I’d also except a photo of Eric kicking butt of the offending people too.
