Thank you, aussie, for all those beautiful pictures, and for bringing back memories which seem from another life, with the museum on the left, which we visited....

This "lap swimmer" is sadly "beached" from the beginning of the war, since the swimming pool doesn't have a shelter...

Dani, My heart hurts for your people.🙏💞

Took dad out for lunch at Warriewood Beach.  DH had a swim and said the water temp was good.

Dad’s garden.  Been a very dry winter & Spring so far.2CC71002-C778-4026-90DB-504C0C2BEA66.thumb.jpeg.74a3f100df1da5d3ddf717189a6e775f.jpeg

These look nothing like the morning photos Graham posts.  It is nice to the differences to where people live, well except for my snow shots.

The house we rented, for our Christmas / New Year get away this year is up in Pompano Beach.   We will have now stayed several places between here and Hollywood, but this is the farthest north.   Do you have any restaurant recommendations up that way?   We are always looking for new places to try, but we still like them to be kid friendly, since our grandkids will be with us.

My husband and I like Houston's in Pompano Beach (on the intracoastal), however I am not sure how appealing it would be for kids. My parents had a condo in Pompano for many years, but I have forgotten most of the eateries at this point .... or in some cases, they no longer exist.

Enjoy your time there.

Reaching out to my fellow CC friends for some feedback:

We’re thinking of switching our April b2b Voyager with an 11 night November Jewel cruise out of Galveston.

Ports of call on Jewel:  Curacao, Aruba, Cozumel, Grand Cayman.

Ports of call on Voyager:  Usual W. Caribbean itinerary

6 sea days which is a lot but we love them..

11 nights will make us Diamond!

I always wanted to try a Radiance class ship.  Jack isn’t too keen since he likes the Promenade especially the café.

@Jimbo you were on Jewel recently.  How is her condition?  Any negatives?  We’ll be having dinner in the MDR.  Where can we go for a late night snack?

Thoughts anyone?

Thank you, Marietta.  With the Island being small when we were growing up, we more than likely were in the same place at one time or another;  High School basketball games, St. Patrick's Parades, Forest Avenue Bars, Demyans, and then there's the activities our kids may have been involved in.

I grew up in Tompkinsville, and after I got married, I lived in Tottenville for 42 years.

In the 70’s I knew many people living in New Springville SI.

All I will say is that I'm not a big Radiance class fan for the same reasons as your husband. Our cruise on Serenade was fine but several of us missed the Promenade including my mother who managed to mention it several times during the week. And when mama ain't happy....😉😄

Having done multiple 5-day B2B out of Galveston last year for ease after cruising resumed, i would go definitely go for Jewel. Change of ports and does away with wasted changeover day and cooler days leaving and returning to port.

I don’t remember if you are a big ship fan? We prefer smaller, love radiance ships and change of layout. Snacks at Cafe Latitudes and Solarium Cafe. If you don’t give it a try you will never know if you would like it but I would go for ports alone - rare to get some of these different itineraries out of Galveston. We love the repositioning in and out of Galveston for a change, and had a 10-night Radiance Panama Canal booked last year.  I think you have to take the opportunity when it presents itself.

Over all Jewel is in Good Condition. Overall the food wasn't the greatest in Windjammer. Lot's of repeats breakfast. lunch and dinner.

We probably only went to the MDR like 4 or 5 nights out of the 14 nights we were onboard. We had a table for 2 which was really close to other tables and overall it was just slow for dinner and this was for 2 person. Larger tables were there even longer.

Lot's of activities in the Centrum everyday which was nice. Shows in the main theatre  were your normal Royal shows.

They had football games on the outside screen by the pool, but since this was a northern cruise to Greenland hardly anyone could stay out there because it was to cool most nights.

They were showing sports at the Pit Stop Bar  which is kind of like behind the casino. Games were also on the Tv in your Cabin.

As far as finding food after hours, not a lot of options. Windjammer closes at 9pm. It was either Wings from Room Service that was really good. Cafe Lattitudes which had light sandwiches and pastries.

Solarium Cafe is where you can get slices of pizza or light sandwiches(They were open really late) saw lots of people getting Whole pizza's and taking them back to bars to eat while drinking.

We are bigger ship fans.  We just cruised Voyager out of Galveston and wished we were on a bigger ship due to the entertainment and food choices.   I don't think we would ever consider Radiance unless it was stopping at ports we wanted to go to.  We wouldn't cruise it for the ship experience.  With that said Aruba and Curacao are 2 favorites for us.  We enjoy cruising out of Galveston.  I wish they had a better choice of ports.

We love the larger ships also , will not cruise on anything smaller than voyager class, very happy Galveston now has oasis class will cruise on harmony next month. Agree ports are limited from Galveston.

Heading to bar since Bills are not on local tv this week and have a issue trying to buy nfl ticket.

Radiance class isn’t our favorite either but sometimes you take what is closest and easiest. Left house at 10:15. Got checked in at port and sat in chairs for a bit. On ship before 11. Jewel is also in port on a port of call. She is right behind us.

That would be nice to be able to leave the house and be on a cruise ship in less than an hour no matter the size.  Have a great time!

We were on Adventure in Feb. and Oasis in March.  If not for Bella 02 on Wonder, we would stick with Freedom or Voyager class ships.

We're considering Jewel based on its itinerary.  We'll miss the ice show, Cafe PR.

I'm anxious (not so much Jack) to experience a totally different ship than Voyager/Freedom class.

Goodness, I'm now veering toward keeping Voyager!  Jack is trying to put the guilt on me.  "Choose whichever you want", he says, which really means "don't consider what *I* really want".

I think someone here was recently on Eclipse.   How was it?   If I recall, I think that is the same class as Equinox, and I think Eclipse just got the revolution update.

I found a really good price for an 8 night Bermuda sailing from Cape Liberty, that includes drinks, WiFi, and still has tips included.  Now I just have to convince Susan.  She has been wanting to get back to Bermuda.   She is just gun shy to book another, since we already have 3 booked, and she remembers what happened the last time we had a bunch booked.

I saw go with Jewel, we did 2 cruises on her, Pacific Coastal and Southern Caribbean out of San Juan.  Does it have the same bells and whistles as the bigger ships, no but it is beautiful and reminds you more of old time sailing.  Jim is one that loves the promenade but he was fine with Jewel.  Both itineraries had mostly port days so not a lot of sea days so can't comment on those.  Another thing to think about is fellow passengers, you may have more of a party atmosphere on the 2 short sailings than on the longer one.  You will never know how you would like the ship without trying yourself.  Of course if Jack is opposed it may color his feelings.  Can't go wrong either way, tough choice.

When is the eight night from Cape Liberty?  Sounds good to me.  Charlie is trying to convince me he can handle a cruise!

It is May 11th, so it would depart Mother’s Day weekend.  It goes to Martha’s Vineyard, then sails to Bermuda for three full days there.
